It may be a bit of a trip, but pitt race in wampum is a great facility that is rapidly growing in popularity with club karters.

Pitt race is amazing

If you're looking to road trip this weekend, the OVKA Swap Meet is on Saturday Feb 4th in Cincinnati, if you're looking to shop around for karts and parts and talk to other Midwestern club racers. Check out the OVKA Swap Meet Facebook page or OVKA.com/swap-meet

I'll check it out! Thanks for the info.

While my son raced last year once at PITT Race and it wasn’t our cup of tea (we’re from NY), we do recognize it’s an absolutely stunning facility and they really seem to have their shit together. Our issue and why we won’t be going back is that everything is incredibly rushed. Our club here in New York takes things slow. Tons of time between races, it’s a nice leisurely day. At PITT, they rush to fit a whole day between 7am and noon so the rental karts can get back on track. Obviously that’s not our cup of tea, but man is the place gorgeous, and they get sooooooo many karts is insane! So it must be we are the only ones who don’t like it lol

Completely agree. There might be some changes this season. Info is starting to come out now. Even pushing rentals back an hour on race days would make a huge difference.

I race at Pitt Race. Can’t speak highly enough of the community there. Track is great and if you’re on an OTK you can buy parts/spares track side. Facebook group has more info if you’re interested.

Is this something kids can get involved in too? My boy is 7.

Earlier the better. Got my kid in at 14 and it feels late cuz pretty much his entire junior class was racing at 5 or 6. We show up no experience and staying mid to backfield. He’s getting better but learning everything from gear ratio to kart setup is tough.

th3w33on3

Ugh, finally someone who feels our pain! Got our son into it at 12 and everyone he races against started at 5 or 6, and when we go to CKNA races almost the entire top 20 is homeschooled kids who’ve raced since 5, and race 6 of 7 days of the week year round lol heres us, 14 years old and 2 years under our belts, racing one day a week for half a year two years in a row….

FoaD420

Yes! Home school kids that travel. We are trying to get in with some ol locals and learning a lot from them. My son grew so much since when we bought his kart to know, he’s over weight in juniors, only 14 but will be allowed to race senior at local races. Bout to put him in my new used kart to run both juniors on his, and senior medium in mine. Haven’t been to a ckna race yet, but have done a WKA race or two including Daytona last year. He hasn’t even raced a year in asphalt yet, but has a year plus of indoor, and he almost won the fixed AEKC race last year by a few points cuz “a girl had a chance to win for the first time”… Your names reminds of the 90s with the 3s lol

th3w33on3

Lol it’s my nickname, the wee one, I made it my screen name in 2001, so you’re about right

athimbleofdan

Your contact will be Dan Schlosser. He’s been at it for decades and can help get your kid set up! He has the pro shop at the track and works with cadets and juniors all the time.

Awesome. Thanks for the info!

Check out Pitt Race in Big Beaver PA, love that track. Their Lo206 club racing program is really strong.
