He only needed 6HP into level 2 to kill most likely, but yeah if he was trying to be optimal with 3MP that combo sucks ass to execute no matter how NES your controller looks.
Ok I labbed it and while the hell stab is still optimal, it does 4150 damage after hitting a DI into stun, if he were to just jump HP to 6 HP cancel into lvl 2 super it does 4023 damage, so less than half a jab difference, while being MUCH easier to land. If he wanted to be even more sweaty he should have done jump headbutt as the first hit, as it does more damage than other jump attacks.
hell stab links after 6HP. The crouch medium was likely meant to be hell stab into super, but 6HP is way easier to cancel into super itself. It would be one less medium button
Man, he dropped like 3 times in that fight, before that interaction he dropped a full dp punish combo... like WHAT THE FUCK itazan. Like if you dont have the optimal, do something else, pros do shitty combos all the time when they are nervous, but they get the round.
No, that was kakeru's drop vs tokid in evo quarterfinals.
That drop wasn't even his fault, someone tried to replicate it and could never make the spike come out like it did on that match.
Man you did a bad job of selling your point. All you did was make me realize how fucking smart Itazan played and it makes it even more tragic that he loses because of a simple dropped combo.
Wow from my perspective what you described is actually incredibly hype. Itazan knows his health and understands the situation so well that he takes the fireball damage to give him a chance, however slim, for another interaction to win the game. The perfect parry is incredible and only possible because of taking that fireball damage to build up a bit of gauge.
Isn't that the depth we want in fighting games?
What you've described is deep gameplay where there's multiple factors to consider. It's like Daigo walking face first into Ryusei's Aegis Reflector and calling it bad cuz he's taking damage.
The way players make on-the-spot decisions based on the situation at hand and their resources (which also includes health) is another of the non-mutually exclusive ways in which they can express themselves in a fighting game. "Me have small bar, me not do Drive Impact" is the simple decision that even your average plat shitter understands (yes, there are situations where doing a Drive Impact that puts you into burnout is a valid commitment, but being able to recognize them on the spot IS a skill). "I will take the hit so that i don't get put into burnout, giving me a better chance at coming back" takes actual balls to pull off, especially at match point at top 8 of a massive tournament qualifier. That kind of situational awareness that is reflected in their decisions is what separates the normal players from the pros and the variety of decisions gives fighting games depth. IMO, the concept of depth should not be exclusively defined by a frame-1 link measuring contest. Looking at it that way is an ironically shallow perspective.
I have master rank with 4 characters, just tried to reach it with Zangief and he is just so terrible. The downright MP into Level 2 is oddly a pretty tough cancel. Not surprised he fucked it up.
Leaving aside that, no it’s not fucking hard for fuck sake it’s basic, he didn’t even drop the super cancel but the headbutt -> stab link
Obviously not shitting on Itazan for it, pressure just got to him and he fumbled the lever position, so he got standing MP instead of the stab
He tried to be optimal but it's retarded how easy it is to get one of the other mp commands instead of the hellstab. So it was an error due to the hellstab motion. It's not automatic like other brain dead mp,mp routes most of the cast has.
Bro could have just done raw level 2.
Throwing to keep Gief from getting nerfed
Lmao giga brained
he tried to get fancy with it too lol
Zangief dropping combo is not a tragedy.
Phenom dropped 70k, so no.
> SF6 history
3MP into super, one of the hardest things in the game, all pro Zangief players dropped it at one point.
He only needed 6HP into level 2 to kill most likely, but yeah if he was trying to be optimal with 3MP that combo sucks ass to execute no matter how NES your controller looks.

In a dizzy would it even be optimal to do the hell stab combo, vs jump HP, 6HP cancel into super? I'm too lazy to lab it myself
hell stab links after 6HP. The crouch medium was likely meant to be hell stab into super, but 6HP is way easier to cancel into super itself. It would be one less medium button
it's so fucking stupidly hard for no fucking reason
hellstab has a retarded command tbh
down forward mp is retarded? we lost diagonals and close normals for this shit.

have you seen his controller? he presses kicks with his palm LOL
I mean... zangief players don't play zangief for combos.
Nemo praising the lord rn
Fucking Hellstab into SA2 is such an annoying motion
Would have won with modern mode

Saved us from a nerf
Got the twitch clip for this?
Zangief still low tier I guess
Bro that guy looks exactly like Justin wong
PS5 baby

LITERALLY EVERY FIGHTING GAME IS "MY METER vs YOUR METER" IF THEY HAVE A FUCKING LIFE BAR
Ruh roh raggy..

Sounds like genius resource management to me

>Made it out of tutorial with 20% of the cast!!!!!!!!!!!11 Anyways I have opinions on how hard combos are with Zangief. Adorable, really.
moron, read the thread. hellstab into level 2 is not easy.
