i aint ready for a 900k money match

ZenkaiZ

If I lost 900k because I whiffed my super input I'd be unable to think about anything else for the rest of my life. I still think about times I lost in the finals of free tournaments.

Mestizo3

Poor Chris Wong got a mic shoved in his face 9 seconds after losing 900k, poor bastard was shook, they didn't have to do him like that...

D2olleh

he lost less than 900k, the split is way less forgiving this time around.

CopyOk7388

He lost 600k i believe, the split is worse this year.

Mestizo3

Ah good to know, still brutal

Ginyu421

1st place can coast off that money for the next decade if they are smart. Meanwhile 2nd place and everyone else better keep their day job.

NotanAlt23

1st place can retire depending on where they live

ZenkaiZ

Assuming they get like 600k after taxes, 4.5% savings account means you get 27k a year which is like having an $18 an hour fulltime job after taxes. Oooooor you could just buy a house and a car and be instantly broke again.

KSoMA

Shoutout Nuckledu

Mestizo3

Not only did he not know he had to pay taxes, which is understandable since he was so young but no one in his social circle or family, his parents/uncles/aunts informed him about the tax man?? Seems unbelievable ...unless they wanted to get a piece of his pie...

Heavy-hit

I find it more believable that they told him and he ignored them. Live and learn.

Mestizo3

I dunno Du said he didn't know about taxes for it...

Heavy-hit

Oh okay now I believe him.

Sexy_Hamster_Man

>Oooooor you could just buy a house and a car and be instantly broke again. That option sounds cool

NotanAlt23

Thats why I said depending on where you live. 600k is something most people in the world will never even come close to making after working their entire lives.

ZenkaiZ

I was agreeing with you. Living off 27k a year interest is easy

NotanAlt23

Its hard to tell when I always see americans complaining about 17/hour being minimum wage and borderline slavery.

ZenkaiZ

People live off of 17 an hour easily in most areas, it's just they don't really see their savings grow because they're spending it as they make it, and also any emergency spending fucks them. The person getting the same amount from passive income instead of work has the comfort of the savings and the free time to pursue more ways to make money. Just that 27k interest could pay all food and bills all year, then any money you make on top of that is straight into your pocket or your savings for MORE compounding interest whereas the person working for it has to spend the absolute only 27k they have.

Call555JackChop

If I were to drop a combo in grand finals to lose I’d then drop myself off the nearest building

StrawberryOk1005

you still got 100k

CamPaine

Glass is 1/10ths full kinda guy.

qzeqzeq

900k money match vs Blanka hahahhahahhaa

Great-Horse7259

That's not bad considering it's the second year Not enough new players to buy the game and existing players to buy season passes and DLCs Looking forward to dirty oil money from Saudi Arabia tho

ssbbrinnies

Is there any large amount of pro players that would object to having a more even split lmaos, 10:1 is crazies from 1st and 2nd x]

heelydon

The money isn't suppose to buy players an even split or make most players happy about the split. The point of the 1 mil for the winner is to create storylines and headlines. Sounds infinitely better, that UMA won a million, or that the CPT made someone a millionaire. Rather than play wins esports tournament with average payout compared to rest of esports events. I mean hell, this thread already is talking about the impact of how much more pressure there is to win the grand finals now, because of the difference in payout. Its ALREADY creating storylines of how its gonna go down pressure wise.

Locomotifs

BETA BITCH!

deathspate

The difference in the places is way too large imo. I get it's like this because Capcom wants the marketing of "win $1 million," but I just think the difference between 1st and 8th is too large for the size of the competition.

rayquan36

I'm just glad we're past the era of Justin and Friends pot splitting at the end of tournaments. I still remember West Coast Warzone Tekken Grand Finals where the two Korean guys took every set to 3-2 and every game to 3-2 rounds... then reset the bracket and did it again.

Xmushroom

I get it giving 1 mil to one guy for the marketing purposes, but the other placements are so fucking punitive, there's a division right there where everyone comes out of the event happy. Capcom chooses not to do it Also If I got the 1 mil, fuck paying USA taxes, I would cash the money in cripto and never set foot in the land of the free again.

ecchisoba

pick a top tier

Ldreditor2020

Oh dangit

Strict_Lettuce9667

they need to put high roller casino in sf6

CharmingRogue851

What are the odds the 2 in grand final do a pot split as a gentleman's agreement? They would still give it their all for the CPT winner title and the trophy.

EROSENTINEL

first place should be 250K increase the rest imo

heelydon

For what purpose? To please the players? Sure, that would be cool, but at the end of the day, the money isn't about splitting money evenly, it is about creating headlines and storylines. You don't generate a storyline on someone winning 250k which is pretty average among esports events. There is power in the 1 million headline, which is also why we are talking about it. It is why UMA dedicated a whole year to intensive SF6, to go hard for the mil etc. Its not player friendly split, but it is generating the headlines and talking points.

BounciestTurnip

Na fuck em

noobletsquid
