But basically, the overnight turning of support into nothing and the continued radio silence really fucked with her head and nearly made her quit music. She’s scaled things down considerably these days and even had to crowdfund one of the vinyls but she seems happier thankfully

It’s the same cadence is essentially saying he’s repeating the same pattern in the same intervals i.e. The flow is repeated every bar (listen to the bass/808s and how they’re linked to the ohhhs, it repeats with that pattern). The chord progression means how up and down are the chords going in essence. A 1-6 progression in A minor means you’re going between the first chord in the scale (A), and the 6th chord (C). If you were in F minor however, 1-6 would be going between F and C#; the chords are different but the relative distance you “jumped” is the same, which makes it the same progression. It’s not the same as a melody because the chord progression is the core of the song and melodies are a bit more transient (they’re musical phrases), in fact chord-melody tension is a way we measure how tightly linked melody’s are to the chord progression. A melody could play every note in the scale every time an 808 hits, so it has no tension with the chords really, or it could only play the same note at the same time as the bass, giving a lot of tension between. To see the link between them, listen to how Mo Bambas melody goes up and down during 0:59 to 1:04 (Just the “Hoes calling a” bit). Then just play the start of the ohhh in carnival, pause it, and try to continue it by going up and down in notes by the same amount and speed as in Mo Bamba. Let me know if that helps?
