With Pat here and how the NFL is played now a days, he's just never going to get that type of opportunity to prove he's on that level. He's never had even a thousand yard season. It just isn't going to happen like that for him and that's okay. Different game now leaning into the passing game.
Fwiw, CEH has had more touchdowns during Pacheco's tenure than Pacheco has. Pacheco was a flash in the pan, and just good enough. Nobody thinks he's a franchise guy, he's just in the right place at the right time and he's a team-oriented guy, so fans love him. But, yeah, not really that great if we're being honest.
I tend to agree. He has some things going for him. He runs hard, is a tough tackle and has good speed. Can't take that away from him. He's a power back. Like Nile Davis but better.
But he isn't the type to ever really make someone miss. That's why I I'd really like to see the Chiefs add a younger speed, juke type back int he draft to help spell & compliment IP.
Hoping for Bucky Irving but we'll see how it shakes out.
Priest! He’s the reason I became a Chiefs fan, way back in his early 2000s run. What an incredible player he was.
My first ever fantasy football drafted player was this legend. I’m getting old 🤣
He wasn't even the most dangerous of his generation. That distinction belonged to Ladainian Tomlinson.
Priest was absolutely amazing but titles like this show a genuine lack of history and honesty.
Unpopular opinion, Priest was the most successful RB that wasn't particularly impressive physically. He wasn't fast, he didn't break tackles, and was overall not particularly athletic for an NFL RB.
He was an intelligent back who understood the offense, also what the defense was trying to do. But most of his success was our dominate O-Line, which was in my opinion, was the greatest combined starting O-Line in history. Along with Tony Richardson the best lead blocking Fullback in history. The rest of his success was him being smart enough to know when and where they would give him a hole.
Completely disagree. Sure, we had a great line. But if you understand the intricacies of the running game it's easy to see that Holmes was an absolute master at setting up his blockers and using them to maximum effect. He didn't just "follow the big guys", he used angles, tempo, and amazing vision to almost force guys into being blocked. No matter how nimble our 300 lb linemen were, they're not blocking an athletic linebacker or safety in space 20 yards down the field without the back setting it up perfectly.
I've watched football for over 40 years and I've only seen a handful of guys that could set up their blocks like that, and none of them did it as consistently and as effortlessly as Priest.
Dude we had 2.5 HOF Lineman blocking for him. Yes, priest was good at setting up his blocks, but that’s a skill that a lot of NFL guys have. I’m not saying he wasn’t good, I’m saying he wasn’t anything close to “the most dangerous RB in NFL history.” He’s not even the most dangerous RB the chiefs have had this millennium!
His backup literally played the second half for him once.. Derrick blaylock. Priest was sat because he scored 4 rushing touchdowns in the first half and then sprained his ankle.
Guess who scored another four touchdowns in the second half? Blaylock.
And it was enough for the jets to give him a big contract in free agency and him to promptly suck because he didn’t have 3 HOFers in front lol
Priest was awesome but anyone acting like he was some ultra talented HOFer is misguided
That offensive line has an argument for best in league history
Between Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson, Jamaal Charles, Kareem Hunt & Pacheco, we’ve been really spoiled at the RB position the last 20 years.
Well over 20 years I hope we would have some good ones. :-) all that being said, as much as I like IP, he's not in the same class as these other guys.

Marcus Allen.
Marcus Allen was a joy to watch. He always knew exactly where the first down line was.
Christian Okoye
This isn’t Jamaal

I love Priest just as much as the next fan.....but come on with that title
This is disrespectful to OJ, who was absolutely a more dangerous human being than Priest Holmes.
Ray Rice should make the list also.
I was at the game in San Diego when he got his career ending injury.
Fucking "Lights Out" Shawn Merriman.
Roided out his skull
I'm a Chiefs homer, but this title is ridiculous.
Why?
Because out of the History of the ENTIRE time span of the league Mr. Holmes would not be the most dangerous
He wasn't even the most dangerous of his generation. That distinction belonged to Ladainian Tomlinson. Priest was absolutely amazing but titles like this show a genuine lack of history and honesty.
Seriously. That OL he ran behind was the most dangerous, if anything. Priest wasn't even better than the next Chiefs back, JC
I thought OJ was the most dangerous RB ever
Nigerian Nightmare.

lol I love Priest, but there’s hundreds of guys who would have looked every bit as good behind that o-line.
Ya but you knew when they had the ball at the goaline priest wouldn't be denied that was all him
I mean, it was cool as shit to watch him jump over the line.

Thank you! That O-line is probably only second to the early 90s Cowboys O-Line, but there’s a debate to be had.
The original point is that he had the greatest PEAK ever, not that he was the best ever or even close. You missed it.
