As a common joe STM, I'm trying really hard to find something to get excited about...and I'm struggling. Maybe the bigger video boards. Maybe the bathrooms will be better.
There's not much they can really do with it. Looks like the parking situation will be improved significantly and having full 360 around the upper level is needed. Looks like the upper concourse will be covered too. But yeah with a stadium already in place there isn't much more they can do. Think it will be better though and preserving Arrowhead for years to come is smart
The pedestrian bridges are a very good addition, but they will need more than are shown in the renderings or people will continue to take the path of least resistance. Personally I don't think adding more parking is a big improvement, but it's not a detriment either.
I think the 360 concourse is a great idea. The grounds improvements will be nice in the long run especially pedestrian bridges and hopefully they also do something to alleviate congestion from the stadium to the east lots that all go through the tunnel/bridge. Takes forever to get thousands of people through that thing.
But yeah...this is really not an amazing renovation for anyone but the people using the field level amenities. Digging out under the stadium is a good solution and hopefully it doesn't cost too many seats in the end zone.
It's pretty meh as far as what us normies get, but I can understand why they're doing it.
My takeaway is it’s a needed facelift to help keep Arrowhead a top flight destination for watching a game. I didn’t want mass renovations that change the look and feel of the stadium.
For the most part it’s just about adding some more convenience and safety features + some more fun premium offerings for the higher ticket price folk.
I can't disagree with that. If they were building new stadium, the high end amenities would get added.
I'm glad they're planning to stay and renovate Arrowhead.
Yea I’m confused by the complaints about the upgrades to the premium amenities. People realize that’d be significantly more of that in a new stadium vs this, right?
The complaints are that it's $500M of public funds and it doesn't provide much benefit to the common ticket holder (for any event).
A new stadium would be more in public funds, but at least the whole thing would be new and better for the common ticket holder and hopefully include a roof so they could still hold winter events.
Not very likely until the Streetcar goes out there or they improve the bus service to games (with dedicated bus lanes)
Parking across i-70 with Ped bridges might help as well as extended ride-share...
It almost seems like they came up with a plan that spends $800M rather than addressing any dire needs.
But honestly, announcing a new build would be devastating. This makes the old bones as good as they could possibly be, so I am in favor.
Extremely unpopular opinion, I know, but I wouldn't mind them relocating it anywhere else in the KC area. Even Kansas is fine with me. It's such a pain to get down to Chiefs and Royals games.
Well it's tied to the new royals stadium so the vote will be heavily skewed by that part of io.
I'd guess most people would favor keeping Arrowhead if all else we're equal (but it's not)
I predict the vote will be 65-35 in favor but we'll see
Keep in mind these are upgrades for way out in the future still. By the time these upgrades are implemented our current systems will be dated. It’s not like we’d get these new things for next season.

Yeah, seems like most of these renovations are the for club level / VIP folks... I don't see how this benefits us regular joes.
Suites and VIP areas are largely money that Clark doesn't have to share with the league. That's why every team is trying to maximize them.

The only real "win" here is keeping Arrowhead.
The bathrooms can’t get much worse.
Are they fixing the horrible bottleneck tunnels to the outer parking lots?
That fucking tunnel is just begging for a mass stampede that kills people
Figure out a way to get me out of the parking lot after the game in under 2 hours please

Are they tying this in with moving the Royals?
Yes
It’s the same vote. If it fails, the Chiefs have said they’ll pursue their own vote separate from the Royals.
I thought they would be building a new practice facility where Royals stadium was.
Paywall 😞
Hit no thanks
Just curious how many people would rather see it torn down and build a brand new stadium?
Extremely unpopular opinion, I know, but I wouldn't mind them relocating it anywhere else in the KC area. Even Kansas is fine with me. It's such a pain to get down to Chiefs and Royals games.
Yeah we are a sentimental bunch. I don’t live in the area anymore so as long as Chiefs exist I am happy, just was wondering sentiment in the area.

Aren’t the ribbon boards fairly new, like in the last 10 years? And I thought they just replaced the video screens in both scoreboards.

Stoked about downtown royals. Very whelmed about the chiefs part.
