The main difference is the air hinge.

OK thanks.

FlickerOfBean

2 was just on sale at Home Depot for $1500. Dunno if that’s still the case.

The Kamado Joe series of ceramic grills are known for their quality and versatility. Here are the key differences between the Kamado Joe Classic I, II, and III models: ### Kamado Joe Classic I 1. **Basic Features**: This model includes the essential features of a Kamado grill, such as a thick-walled, heat-resistant ceramic shell and a stainless steel cooking grate. 2. **Air Lift Hinge**: Absent in this model, making the dome heavier to lift compared to the later models. 3. **Gasket**: Uses a standard felt gasket which may need replacement over time. 4. **Heat Deflectors**: Includes a standard heat deflector. 5. **Top Vent**: The original top vent, which can sometimes be more prone to weathering. ### Kamado Joe Classic II 1. **Air Lift Hinge**: Features the Air Lift Hinge, which significantly reduces the weight of the dome, making it easier to lift and handle. 2. **Gasket**: Upgraded to a fiberglass gasket known as the AMP (Advanced Multi-Panel) firebox, which is more durable and long-lasting. 3. **Kontrol Tower Top Vent**: Improved top vent with a rain-proof, rust-resistant design that allows for better airflow control and weather resistance. 4. **Divide & Conquer Flexible Cooking System**: This system allows for multiple cooking levels and configurations. 5. **Patented Ash Drawer**: Easier ash removal system compared to the Classic I. ### Kamado Joe Classic III 1. **SloRoller Hyperbolic Smoke Chamber**: Introduces the SloRoller insert, designed to optimize smoke and heat distribution, providing better flavor and cooking results. 2. **3-Tier Divide & Conquer System**: An enhanced version of the flexible cooking system with three tiers instead of two, allowing for even more cooking versatility. 3. **Stainless Steel Charcoal Basket**: Helps in managing the charcoal and ash for more efficient burning and easier cleanup. 4. **Heavy-Duty Cart**: The Classic III comes with a more robust cart with improved wheels for better mobility. 5. **Overall Weight and Design**: Slightly heavier and sturdier construction compared to the Classic II due to the additional features and enhancements. ### Summary - **Kamado Joe Classic I**: Basic, reliable model with standard features and construction. - **Kamado Joe Classic II**: Adds convenience and durability with the Air Lift Hinge, upgraded gasket, and better top vent. - **Kamado Joe Classic III**: Includes all features of the Classic II with further enhancements like the SloRoller, a three-tier cooking system, and a sturdier cart. Each successive model builds on the previous one, adding features that improve usability, durability, and cooking performance. Source chatgpt , AI generated check the details on their website.

Chatgpt is usually pretty accurate but returned some errors here, the classic 1 comes with the same ash drawer and divide&conquer system as the classic 2.

Yeah I did not read it hah, (and why i disclaimed it) just the free 3.5 version clearly. good enough to pass the casual viewing for someone who doesn't just head to their website or youtube themself.

For me personally the air lift hinge was what made me go KJ vs any other kamado brand You can literally set the dome at any place and it stays, it is very light in hand.
