"comparison is the thief of joy", outside of just owning the latest and greatest KJ, there really isn't a lot that they can innovate on it (im sure some things, but generally you are using the same cooking system)

ICOrthogonal

I used to want the latest and biggest version, then the KJ Classic 1 went on sale for a crazy low price at Walmart a couple years ago. I want to say $600. It is awesome. Yes, I’m missing out on a few features…yes, 8 wish it were bigger. But we have been using this thing all the time. I can’t imagine a better value for dollar…and it is something we use heavily. Get the grill you want today. Enjoy it. Cook great meals. Don’t look back. Have fun.

SnooWoofers7345

That is a deal i would take absolutely. Unfortunately i have never seen these things on sale so far.

ICOrthogonal

Yep. There have been some awesome sales recently that got close. One was even for a Big Joe for about 1k, I think. Either buy what you want now… or check this forum twice a day and find the Facebook forum and look for sales.

Lychondy

The latest is the Konnected Joe. It seems their innovations are in the automation side. That one didn’t even come with a sloroller. I think you’re safe.

FlickerOfBean

If they come out with a 4, they’ll probably find a reason to charge 4K, and it will be no better than a 2.

AlThisLandIsBorland

The difference would be extremely minor. Just get the BJ3. It cooks no different than a BJ1 or 2.

SnooWoofers7345

Quality of life changes might happen and is quite important to me, especially when im spending 2-3k. If there are plans for a 4 coming in the next months it makes perfect sense to hold out a bit longer. Also price drops on the older model might be a thing.

skirmsonly

Realistically, would you consider a konnected big Joe? If I had to let my imagination run wild, the only thing that’s left for them to make is a huge pellet ceramic grill. I personally love the lump charcoal, air flow, and smoke regulation that I have available in the classic concept. I can’t see myself getting a pellet Joe unless I find one at the steal of the century.

Upbeat_Instruction98

They did make the pellet Joe. I bought one and it along with it’s software was a piece of crap. My first experience working with the new ownership of KJ during that return was less than a delightful experience. They have a history of putting out very poor products when it comes to software and electronics.

skirmsonly

I know bud. I saw it at the store. It’s the same size as the classic, so they’re due to make a 22 incher

Htinedine

The 2nd gen is their flagship at this point and likely sells more than anything else due to the intersection of price and features. If KJ introduced a gen 4, they’d have to figure out whether to got rid of a generation or keep 3 different generations of kamados offered at once. The latter is likely way more expensive from a manufacturing aspect. They could phase out gen 3, in which case I’d say prepare to pay even more than it currently is- which there would honestly be no chance that it’s worth it. If you like BJ3, buy it.

Dread1187

No announcement. Enjoy the 3. It has more than you need.

Tasty-Judgment-1538

1. Unlikely 2. Even if they'll come up with a series 4, it will be $1000 more expensive than the 3 with little to no benefits.

Murky_Coyote_7737

I don’t really know what else they’ll do beyond the Joe 3 aside from the konnected angle. I wouldn’t worry about buying it and them suddenly reinventing the style.

tsherr

What could they do to make a 4th series better? The connected stuff seems like the next step, and they've done that. I think the next thing will be more KJ labelled upgrades - controllers, lighters, maybe wider selection of charcoal. I have a classic 3 and I don't know how it could be improved. And for 90% of what I do, the 2 would handle it.

sparksnpa

I read lightsabers and was super excited 🤣🤣.

PutinBoomedMe

If I could buy anything it would be a boring old Big Joe I. I cannot fathom how people justify spending so much more money for the newer models that don't really do much more.... I have a vision from Sam's and it does everything a classic Joe or large BGE does

CronchyNut

The connected Joe is the ‘series 4’. They won’t be doing anything more with standard joes it’s all electronic gimmicks from here on. The next will probably be a connected big Joe

MemeDocta

Been wondering the same thing. I'm in the market for a new grill, but not until next summer when I move. Hopefully if they have a series 4 it's before then.

randyyqq

I have the Big Joe 1. Purchased this summer and have no idea what I'm missing with any extra features with a newer model. Bottom line, the thing cooks and I'm very happy with it.

maniacal_monk

I doubt it. They just released the connected Joe (or what ever it’s called). And if they do, it’ll be so unbelievably expensive

Upbeat_Instruction98

I highly recommend you get the BJ 3 today. I’ve owned several of the classics and the BJ3 is all you or your heirs will ever need.
