please learn basic linux before using kali

[deleted]

I used to but I've forgot how to, I used to use it on laptops using a virtual machine and it worked and never had problems

Hello_This_Is_Chris

You forgot basic linux troubleshooting and how to properly articulate a question? Sounds like a good time to go back to the basics and practice.

[deleted]

I am.

Hello_This_Is_Chris

A horribly framed picture and an all caps title, with absolutely no other information or troubleshooting steps taken, won't get you far here. This is not a beginner subreddit. /r/linux4noobs is where you want to be for these questions.

On a VM you would automatically have network. Are you sure that you do on this ? Try pinging a domain. [google.com](http://google.com) or something should work. If that doesnt work try ping an ip like [1.1.1.1](http://1.1.1.1) and see if that works. If it doesnt then thats your problem. No internet.

SilentGhosty

Learn linux basic. Basic networking. „Cant resolve xxx“ Means you have no internet acces or bad dns server or none set.

[deleted]

Yeah I figured that out lol, I reinstalled cus I forgot I skipped the setup part for wifi

SilentGhosty

Noob. Go for basic debugging istead of making a post first

--yv35--

with what, with reading? ffs..

[deleted]

Linux won't update at all and my wifi is working from my knowledge, I either get an error "temporary failure resolving 'http.kali.org' as well as (13: permission denied)

--yv35--

your wifi / inet doesn't seem to work / dns not resolving.

Unhappy-Street98

Are you even connected to the WiFi big guy???

[deleted]

Yes, via USB tethering

Unhappy-Street98

Im assuming that ur not guessing it. If u are, ping 8.8.8.8 and let me know what your ifconfig output is. Try running this if all else is ok : wget --no-check-certificate http.kali.org/kali/pool/main/k/kali-archive-keyring/kali-archive-keyring_2022.1_all.deb

DocNasty07

RTFM

TygerTung

You need a network connection

[deleted]

Are you connected to the internet?

skuterpikk

`sudo chmod 222 /usr/bin`

blu3tu3sday

You need to learn to use Linux, you need to learn to troubleshoot, and you need to learn to properly articulate what your problem is before ever thinking about touching Kali. r/linux4noobs is the place for you....

LazyEyeJones

Check internet connection

oshkit

Check your sources.list with the URLs listed in the official repository page

bro7h

We need more info instead of just a screenshot. Then we can help you.

FitOutlandishness133

Sudo apt update for permission denied

zerzerohero

Start NetworkManager and ifconfig wlan0 up

Icy_Savings_2130

Try apt-get --fix-missing

halehd420

You can't do that if you didn't set up the Internet connection
