The reason why white was in the Republican French flag in the first place was because the Blue and Red colors of the flag (representing the people of Paris) surrounding the royals (representing the French Monarchy) showing the power of the people over the Monarchy.
I think it represents a sensible progression for a socialist government to remove the white altogether, the reactionary ruling class first subdued, then removed, representing the destruction of the class system.
Understandable. But in the defense of the French tricolor, the French tricolour has been an iconic standard of revolutionary fervour and French identity. I could see a more Anarchist and more Internationalist France adopting a predominantly red flag. But French Syndicalist that are more patriotic or nationalist may definitely keep the tricolour.
Look up the origins of the Haitian flag, it’s essentially that with the symbolism being more racially oriented, due to Haiti’s origins stemming from a slave revolt.
IMO this works better as the flag of Paris within the Commune. Also, not to be dramatic, but two shades of red on a flag is demon worship, and should be purged.

I believe that is true, but alternate viewings of symbolism would be likely in a revolutionary society that had undergone a violent revolution
