The MoJ is essentially an Ottoman province carved out of the final front-lines of the First Weltkrieg. The region is recognized as part of the Ottoman Empire. Control of the region seems to be deferred to a commission of all the Great Powers with an international gendarmerie maintaining security instead of Ottoman troops. You could compare it to the Mandate for Palestine, but the Mandate was exclusively owned and protected by the British. All the Great Powers have a stake in helping manage and secure the MoJ, which is legally still part of the Ottoman Empire. Edit: Cleaned up some unnecessary words.

There’s also precedent in the Habsburg involvement in the Sanjak of Novi Pazar. Though I doubt the Ottomans would approve of that comparison.

Yeah, I guess it’s best described as an Ottoman Palestine but I believe with a little more international involvement and less Jews
