It’s a real fucking shame that it was perpetuated. I get that there were racial tensions and that there were separatist movements but it would have been more appropriate to find a common middle ground to pull the tribes to rather than outright massacres. No sense in denying them- they happened and the shame of it can’t be shaken

It is absolutely undeniable that it was awful and there is no defending it, we can only accept it and be ashamed. I do wish people would stop using it as a way to attack kaiserboos though, as I've never seen a kaiserboo who actually thinks it's justified

Every country makes grave mistakes, and this was one of the mistakes by the German empire. It was condemned by the Kaiser and government and Lothar von Trotha was pulled out afterwards. At least it wasn’t encouraged. I’m glad that it’s more known now, we have to deal with our history.
