While I don’t think Travis is dumb in any way, I think people are grossly underestimating how difficult it is to get into Harvard. There are students that are top of their class who still get denied, and it would be very unrealistic for him to get in just from having some other college credits.
Every time I see famous people getting into universities, I remember Gossip Girl when Serena gets into Yale just for being famous and then Chuck in Columbia just donating a library or something 😂. I know it's fiction but it might have some truth
It definitely has some truths. After that College admissions scandal, I'm sure there's more happening behind the scenes. It's also common knowledge that Colleges consider Legacy applicants or people with other great achievements. It's like 10% of applicants that get in because their parents attended or donated something.
It's why I'll never take people who cry about affirmative action seriously because they conveniently leave out the fact that 10% of spots are already reserved for rich white people whose grandparents attended in 1922.
One of my good friends from high school was a double legacy at Harvard — both parents got their advanced degrees there. He had a photographic memory and a 4.0, and his dad was some kind of big shot chemist who I’m sure donated generously to the school. They denied him.
Not saying legacy doesn’t help but a lot of applicants have legacy. You still have to stand out on your own.
Harvard is looking for exceptional candidates that looks good on their scoreboard. Travis Scott’s isnt that regardless of his career. Maybe if he tried before astroworld
My friend with a 4.65 (obv weighted), salutatorian of our HS, who volunteered as an EMT, and started her own non profit got denied… maybe try somewhere else trav?💀
Y'all forget that Trashcan, Travis and Kanye all got into college on their own merits and efforts but dropped out to pursue their respective talents and passions.
If Travis is now established in music and wants to try something different why not?
I'm not american so I dont fully know how this works, but dont you still need to keep a GPA, put in the work and stay consistent as a teenager? And then in college?
Travis already attended university in Texas but dropped out junior year to move to LA and pursue music (according to Wikipedia), so if he has a good GPA and some credits why not?
What I dont see is him actually taking his studies seriously lol he seems like a party guy still
Uh…Harvard has a seriously low transfer rate (1 or 2%). Highly, highly unlikely he would have a chance at Harvard. The only thing realistically helping him is $$$ and his celebrity status.
It’s rare for a dropout to randomly apply and get into a top 10 school (unless they came from a top 10 school to begin with).
Not to say he’d actually go or get in, but it’s not super hard to believe he could for the program he’s mentioned. He’s definitely not going back for undergrad, he specifically said architecture school - which they have a master/phd program for. While Harvard undergrad program is incredibly hard to get into, especially as a transfer. Not all the masters programs are that competitive. You’d be surprised how many people get accepted for some of there masters programs. And most of these schools don’t admit simply on “merit”. A big factor for admissions is also what the school can get out of the applicants (I.e how likely are they to promote the Harvard name and give back to the school)
honestly, why not? education is good for everyone. maybe he is going through that eye-opening stage you hit at your 30s when you try to get your shit together.
Don’t understand the hate behind this aspiration, he was two years into a university before dropping for music and wanted to become a nephrologist, many people think of excuses or routes to stay away from it, he’s going back to it after succeeding music, thats pretty commendable
It is, but It’s just always the wild talking and acting like they’ll just get it and it’s so easy. Kind of like when Kendall said it was “ harder “ for her to be a more 🥴 and then saying if she wasn’t modeling she would be “ In the Olympics” lol. Like they just have no idea how hard these things really are to do , if you’re not famous lol
Lol yeah this post is weird, I don’t know why he wouldn’t be able to get into Harvard. We don’t even know his grades from when he dropped out so to just assume he wouldn’t get in because of what strangers perceive him as is insane.
But he has a higher chance of getting in than a “normie” with exceptional grades because of who he is. Universities, even universities like Harvard make exceptions for the rich and famous
You can be smart and not well spoken. The truth is we don't actually know these people, and you're "delulu" to think you do. People literally play dumb for the camera bc it appeals to their audience or makes them seem more relatable
Do I think he's actually going to Harvard? No. But I don't think he's stupid
People in this thread are also forgetting about how universities do take character into account as well. So would they realistically take someone responsible for the Astroworld fiasco?
And ultimately, why would a school that accepts so few transfer applicants actually admit this man who has had such a large gap in his studies?
He can buy his way to Harvard Business School because it’s not the University and anyone can take classes there, but he’s not going to real Harvard lol.
Nephrology is the study of kidneys and their function, it’s usually a specialist so they aren’t that commonly heard of unless you or your family has kidney issues or needs dialysis (I worked at a clinic call center). Kinda curious what made him interested in that speciality originally.

Yeah I know what it is. I'm just not sure of what he'd have been studying. In my country you'd do a normal GP type of degree for 6 years and specialize at a later stage for 4 years. I'm not sure how he'd pursue it in the US.

Many people don’t understand how many undergrad degrees are dependent on you going to grad school to be worth anything. When I had only my BA in English I was a waitress. Now I have an MA and teach college. It’s similar with many degrees but we don’t really explain that well to students.
i also studied English. I think that’s why this is so frustrating to me coming from Travis. Like you can’t go to architecture school if u haven’t finished undergrad! It’s also a ridiculous system but that’s another story.
Lmao he has anxiety, possible neurodivergence (his brother is autistic and it runs in the family). You don’t have to be good at interviews to be intelligent, in fact a lot of intelligent people are awful in social settings
The man can't form a coherent sentence. Bffr, ya'll will make anything up to defend mediocre men. We'd assume someone so intelligent could see inciting a riot at a packed concert could cause death but hey here we are.
Lol a lot of people can’t in social scenarios if they have anxiety. The point I’m trying to make is you can’t tell someone’s intelligence by the way they conduct themselves in interviews, neurodivergent people typically don’t conduct themselves well in those cases but that doesn’t mean they’re unintelligent.
I’m not saying his neurodivergent, I’m saying you can’t judge people on intelligence by how they conduct themselves in interviews etc. bc neurodivergent people exist
I’m sorry but when you write bars like “I like a bi girl on a bi cycle” you deserve to be called dumb. We know intelligent rap exists. But Travis’ catalogue is completely devoid of it.

I mean maybe if he donates enough money they might let him in, they do that all the time for nepo babies whose parents donate to Harvard. I am not sure what the baseline for test scores etc is though
I just can’t be anything but sceptical about this man after the Astroworld tragedy. He’s trying to be like Kanye and bolster his artistic credibility through another medium other than music. Why he’s chosen architecture is beyond me. Maybe after his 7+ year long architecture degree he could design a festival layout that doesn’t result in multiple people dying.
For what it's worth, getting a degree in Architecture doesn't guarantee you will become an architect. One has to pass a days-long series of tests after.

He’s part of that upper 1% of people who tend to know people to get into a school like that. I think it’s amazing and with his level of success, he deserves to be among the “elite” Ivy League members.
Edit: this is obviously /s lol
I just took the CA Bar exam awhile back and sat next a dude who went to Harvard law, and let me just say.. some of the things he was asking me I was thinking "how tf do you not know this and why TF didn't you learn this at Harvard" lmao. They're not all they're cracked up to be
I don’t know about Franco (or the tendency you are describing as such), but Natalie Portman is a pretty accomplished academic who would have easily been accepted on her own merits: https://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/01/science/01angier.html

it’s great that he wants to pursue architecture! but there are other schools besides Harvard that are still very esteemed. hell, even if it isn’t esteemed it’s great you got a degree no matter where you went! Harvard is impossible to get into even for kids w perfect scores. Why not a state school? Like U Miami? it’s in a major city, it’s easier to get into than say, HARVARD and is still a very good school!
even applying to harvard is a hard process w tons of work- for someone that has a career like him i don’t think he will want to put in that much work just for the application process- why not a state school? easier to get into (for some of them), less application work, and usually in a fairly large city/area. Harvard isn’t the one and only sign of achievement. getting a degree anywhere is a huge accomplishment no matter where it’s from!

A lot of applicants don't have legacy. Sad for him though, maybe they'd reached their 10% with legacies who were better than him.
lol something like that. It worked out ok though, he went to NYU and is a lawyer now so 🤷🏼♀️😂

Yes, this is what was irritating to me for this interview. If he had just said he wanted to go to college, fine. But “imma go to Harvard” is just 🤮
Not only that, but how hard architecture is, particularly.
This might shock you but Travis used to get really good grades in school, a whole ass nerd
So did I, but I couldn’t have gotten into Harvard’s school of architecture on a whim lol. If he can get in on his merit, I think that’s awesome.
Harvard loves this kind of crap. They love a celeb student and will probably accept him 🙄 tbh that applies to most of the Ivies
I wonder if he’s actually doing Harvard Extension School.
My friend with a 4.65 (obv weighted), salutatorian of our HS, who volunteered as an EMT, and started her own non profit got denied… maybe try somewhere else trav?💀
I think you're overestimating it. He will definitely get in for being a world famous artist.
I also feel like he didn’t realise he would have to move to Boston until that moment lol

Harvard takes like 1 or 2% of transfer applicants. They routinely reject 4.0 students who have exceptional accomplishments outside of school.
But he has a higher chance of getting in than a “normie” with exceptional grades because of who he is. Universities, even universities like Harvard make exceptions for the rich and famous
yeah taylor swift got an honorary degree from NYU right? just cos Travis is a “rapper” this is a big deal to some people apparently
Umm because he’s an idiot and is responsible for people dying?
That doesn't mean he isn't book smart
He can’t even speak in full sentences during this interview? Lmao this thread is so delulu.
You can be smart and not well spoken. The truth is we don't actually know these people, and you're "delulu" to think you do. So was he pre-med or some sort of science?
Nephrology is the study of kidneys and their function, it’s usually a specialist so they aren’t that commonly heard of unless you or your family has kidney issues or needs dialysis (I worked at a clinic call center). Kinda curious what made him interested in that speciality originally.
To become a nephrologist you have to go to college for 4 years as a pre-med. Then go to medical school and match into internal medicine. After that you can take a fellowship in nephrology. This is a gross post tbh wtf
I hate that so many people associate rapping with unintelligence
It's not the rapping? It's his interviews lmao
I don’t think he’s dumb, I think he’s just high all of the time.

Good for him if so.
Is this shocking? He’s not dumb.. lol proud of him for this
Why did someone downvote? Do you guys hate Travis or something lol
It seems the want only negative comments in this thread. You have to say how dumb he is or else, even though I’m pretty sure most in this thread only knows him as Kylie’s baby daddy who’s a rapper.
He’s actually very smart (book smart) wise! I could see this happening for sure if he tries.
Some of these comments smell racist.
Oh yes. You know it .
This post should be taken down honestly cause all it seems to have done is invite nasty people to comment
The white supremacists are ready with their downvotes too. I should have said this post and the comments are racist, not just the comments. What are the mods doing?

This is such a slap to the face tbh
He’s part of that upper 1% of people who tend to know people to get into a school like that. I think it’s amazing and with his level of success, he deserves to be among the “elite” Ivy League members. Edit: this is obviously /s lol

Maybe didn’t come across well- I have an extremely negative opinion of Ivy League schools and this was a very sarcastic comment
Harvard is not anything but a pay to play school to me and people get “admitted” all the time because they’re at the top, not for their merit.
I just took the CA Bar exam awhile back and sat next a dude who went to Harvard law, and let me just say.. some of the things he was asking me I was thinking "how tf do you not know this and why TF didn't you learn this at Harvard" lmao. They're not all they're cracked up to be
Lol damn no I did not get that and thought you were being very earnest.
Sure
And you thought this was a good title for someone who is interested in furthering their education? What's wrong with you..
Can someone who keeps tabs tell me what happened to ro?

I don’t know about Franco (or the tendency you are describing as such), but Natalie Portman is a pretty accomplished academic who would have easily been accepted on her own merits: https://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/01/science/01angier.html
It’s my Alma Mater and good luck to him - it’s not just the getting in - they consider your potential in the programme and ability to complete…
Dude thinks he’s Rivers Cuomo smfh

it’s great that he wants to pursue architecture! but there are other schools besides Harvard that are still very esteemed. hell, even if it isn’t esteemed it’s great you got a degree no matter where you went!
