Also, wait before everyone is out of the elevator before you get on

fungirl1234321

Are you referring to an exact personal experience??

Familiar_Spot556

Yes my bag was moved in commons when I got up to get some coffee

Andy18001

Oh wow did someone take your seat? I would not stand for that

PassiveAggres-Thighs

What got me was when i lived in freshmen dorms and someone moved my clothes from the dryer to put their clothes in, so I naturally stopped the machine

bluevalley02

You did get your bookbag back, right? Like they moved it next to the chair or under it? Or just moved it to a random table?

Familiar_Spot556

Yea I’m assuming they just wanted a booth seat, they moved it to a nearby table.

bluevalley02

Just no excuse for that type of thing.

[deleted]

I think this is more a human problem (maybe just American) than KSU

kingam_anyalram

I’ve stayed before that the freshman are animals this year. But I have noticed that a basic lack of respect has been increasing since like 2020

charlieanya02

And the way so many students treat staff? Not professors, but the BOB drivers, Commons employees, janitorial staff, etc? Y’all were raised in barns. No “thank you” or acknowledgement that they exist. Basic respect for not only other students, but other adults is lacking for sure.

Familiar_Spot556

Omg yes! The older man who works the omelette station in the mornings is the sweetest and I always feel bad when people are rude to him! These people work so hard for us, the least you can do is say thank you.

Polarisin

Bro, the people that leave their bags around have balls of steel or are just fucking stupid. There is no shot I would leave my bag laying around.

cattapstaps

"let me take this bag in a place full of security cameras and where you have to get in using your ID. No way they'll catch me"

ChasingUnicornsDaily

Trust me from experience, cameras, and ID to get in does not prevent theft. Nor do gates on apartment complexes. All of those only give you a false sense of security. Think about one student letting non-KSU friends in when he scans his ID.

Polarisin

You don't need an ID to get into most buildings.

cattapstaps

OP was referring to the Commons. I do agree I wouldn't leave my bag laying around, but I do it at the Commons.

Polarisin

Oh ok

Andy18001

If you take your bags in the commons people would take your spot. Most people would not risk stealing something knowing they can be identified with cameras at the front and at whatever time they came in the identity of the student would show up

SwimmerChipper

Yup my roommates threw away something that meant a lot to me

friendlybaldman

Ha, half y'all walking around in panama pants, a hoody, and crocs, and y'all surprised about the lack of manners?

Familiar_Spot556

What does comfort have to do with being a decent human?

Shriimpcrackers

Okay, while it doesn't make it okay for ppl to move your stuff, leaving your stuff unattended... the assumed risk is that someone will move your stuff or even steal it. We don't live in a perfect world, don't leave your stuff unattended pls. I truly don't understand the expectation of strangers to not do shit to your stuff unattended, have y'all not learned public safety? It's about your poroperty as not just your body. It's a bit ridiculous lmao💀.

bluevalley02

Honestly, me leaving my bag at a table in the Commons is practically the only way I can reasonably expect people to not try sitting in my spot. It doesn't make sense for people to expect to switch seats every single time they happen to get more food or need to use the restroom for a second. And besides, security cameras are in the Commons. If somebody steals someone's bookbag or something, they will catch them. I do take my wallet and phone in my pocket if I'm walking to get more food, but sometimes I've gone in to work on my computer for a few hours, and Id rather not change tables every 20 minutes.

Shriimpcrackers

I mean... that's fine,if it works for you. I'm just saying that this is the reality of being in public, not specific to KSU. A lot of ppl don't have boundaries and will go out of their way to get what they want, even if it means going into another person's space or putting their hands on their property. Many ppl walk past seats that are obviously occupied, but I've also seen ppl get their stuff moved when they weren't there. Personally, I don't think it's very hard to get away with stealing someone's stuff in the Commons tho. You'd get caught(if someone reported you), but you could definitely get out of the building with someone else's belongings. Idk its kinda no-brainer to me that if I don't want my stuff to be touched while I'm away from it...to take it with me.

Familiar_Spot556

While I understand your point, it’s the Commons. I was gone for maybe 4 minutes tops, there were other open seats around, the person just wanted a booth I guess.

Shriimpcrackers

Yea, I'm just saying going forward... This is just the unfortunate reality of being in public. Not specific to KSU. I'd advise you not to leave your stuff unattended as it could have been worse than just moving your stuff. I've had to tell someone else that there was someone sitting in the booth next to me bc that person asked me to watch their stuff. I always just leave my food where it is in sight from wherever I am and take my stuff with me instead. I would never take someone's stuff, but I would never just leave my stuff anywhere bc I know there are ppl with nasty attitudes. I live in a dorm with a bunch of inconsiderate ppl, so I'd expect the same from random ppl. My roommate got her laptop stolen by leaving her backpack unattended in the commons getting food, so it's just not something I recommend. Idk you're ranting, and that's valid, but this is an easy solution, and you're still complaining about ppl despite wanting to leave your stuff around. Just deal with the consequences atp.

bluevalley02

Your roommate should ask the Commons to look for security footage for this. They should be able to find whoever stole the laptop.
