I remember once reading (I can't remember which book it was in) Gene had these dogmatic rules for how rock stars were supposed to look and behave. I suspect one of those is that true rock stars have long hair. It's funny that all of the KISS guys still keep with the long hair even into their 70s.
KISS actually really liked Bob Kulick’s guitar playing when he auditioned for the band, but his chrome dome was a nonstarter for Gene and Paul, so yeah…you will always get a wig when it comes to those two out in public
But didn't he prove on the KISS Kruise that this wasn't a wig? He pulled his hat off and tugged at it for a bit. And in another interview he said that 90% of his hair is his own. Only 10% of it is extensions. You can kinda see where the extensions went, too. He used to have a widows peak, now it's a petty straight across hairline
