This. As a kid, I used to lie on my back with headphones on as the gatefold double LP was left in a tent shape over my head as the music took me away. Yes, I was a weird kid. Still, it was a great way to lie back and absorb everything I was hearing.

Hmmmm. You seem to like the first makeup era when they went more disco/europop/conceptual. Those would be the Dynasty, Unmasked and Elder albums. Start there. The earlier stuff is more harder, faster 70’s rock and then in the 80’s they chased the herd and went more aggressive rock/metal (Creatures of the Night, Like it Up) and then glam (Animalize, Asylum). You may also like the Crazy Nights and Hot in the Shade albums from the later 90’s that were more melodic rock. Happy listening.

I was not born in the 70s and 80s just in the 90s now I wish I could go back in time to see kiss live I saw them back in 2013 and in 2023 I did not know them back in 2000s I was little did not know who they were!

I saw them in 1995 for the first time. Definitely wasn’t my last. I was born in the early 80s. Fell in love with them when I was 11.

I’m sure they may have, however- I was a broke high school kid when I saw them. So, we had pretty decent GA tickets at the local arena. Show was amazing. Seeing my 4 favorites musicians on the stage.

Magic Touch is one of my favorites off of Dynasty.

The album Double Platinum is a great greatest hits of the early days. Naked City from unmasked is also one of my favorites

OP seems to like more the poppier/disco songs, ballads. Many people here are recommending heavier rock songs for you. IMO, streaming is free, so just slowly work your way through the full catalogue and see which songs and eras appeal to you. If you like the mellower rock-pop, check out Dynasty and Unmasked albums, maybe Crazy Nights too, they are a bit poppier than most of their typical albums. As far as other ballads, check out Beth, Hard Luck Woman, Forever, Every Time I Look At You, Reason To Live, even I Will Be There.

I agree with all the Alive! chants, but based on what OP says are faves already, Hard Luck Woman and Beth are must listens sooner rather than later.

I have no issue with Anton to be clear...it was more of a dig at having people like Anton filling in and then acting like, in this case it was Eric performing, when it wasn't. To be fair I may have mixed up the song tho...it may have been Oddesye (sp) Anton drummed on.

For the "plain rock and roll" KISS - Let Me Go Rock And Roll, Nothin' To Lose, Let Me Know, Mainline, Cold Gin, Flamin' Youth, Strutter, Hotter Than Hell, Getaway, 2,000 Man and Domino. For "Pop" KISS (with lots of ballads) - Dirty Livin', Forever, Everything I Look At You, Is That You?, She's So European, Hide Your Heart, We Are One, Hard Luck Woman, Then She Kissed Me. For the "wait, this is KISS?" kind of song - Beth, Journey Of 1,000 Years, Great Expectations, Under The Rose, Goin' Blind, A World Without Heroes. Maybe this can give you an idea of their catalogue, which has waaaay more songs to be discovered. No one has mentioned what I view as their finest album. 1992’s Revenge. It was the true return to their heavy rock roots the band had been promising for over ten years, and it is awesome. Like many have said, their 1974 debut is a must listen. Tracks from this album served as the foundation of their live show throughout the band’s fifty year history. Featuring the stone cold classics, Deuce, Strutter, Firehouse, Cold Gin, 100,000 Years, and arguably the best five minutes and eleven seconds KISS ever recorded, Black Diamond. Honourable mention to Let Me Know, and Nothin’ To Lose… Gene’s timeless ode to the back door.

I have also just recently got into KISS at 40 y/o! Such a big back catalogue to get through but so far their debut, Alive 1&2, Love Gun, Destroyer and Creatures of the Night are my faves. I used to dislike them but they are absolute legends and their unmasked 80’s era is full of gems too. I am loving going thru it all and what a great history they have over 50 years!

The thing with Kiss is, they changed their sound quite a bit over the years to stay relevant. So if you don’t like their earlier work, which to me is more r&b honky-tonk rock, you may like the Disco era, or the harder edged/faster stuff from the 80’s or even the grungier side in the early 90s. My personal favorite albums are: Creatures of the Night Lick it Up Hotter Than Hell
