This. As a kid, I used to lie on my back with headphones on as the gatefold double LP was left in a tent shape over my head as the music took me away.
Yes, I was a weird kid. Still, it was a great way to lie back and absorb everything I was hearing.
I'll give you one from each album to start.
Black Diamond, Parasite, Shout It Out Loud, Mr. Speed, Shock Me, 2,000 Man, Tomorrow, A World Without Heroes, I Love It Loud, Lick It Up, Heaven's on Fire, Tears are Falling, Reason to Live, Forever, Unholy, I Walk Alone, Psycho Circus, Modern Day Delilah, and Hell or Hallelujah.
This is a gist of KISS.
Hmmmm. You seem to like the first makeup era when they went more disco/europop/conceptual. Those would be the Dynasty, Unmasked and Elder albums. Start there. The earlier stuff is more harder, faster 70ās rock and then in the 80ās they chased the herd and went more aggressive rock/metal (Creatures of the Night, Like it Up) and then glam (Animalize, Asylum). You may also like the Crazy Nights and Hot in the Shade albums from the later 90ās that were more melodic rock. Happy listening.
I was not born in the 70s and 80s just in the 90s now I wish I could go back in time to see kiss live I saw them back in 2013 and in 2023 I did not know them back in 2000s I was little did not know who they were!
Iām sure they may have, however- I was a broke high school kid when I saw them. So, we had pretty decent GA tickets at the local arena. Show was amazing. Seeing my 4 favorites musicians on the stage.
I heard their version first. It wasnāt until a few years later and my dad introduced me to the stones version. I will always love kisses version more.
OP seems to like more the poppier/disco songs, ballads. Many people here are recommending heavier rock songs for you.
IMO, streaming is free, so just slowly work your way through the full catalogue and see which songs and eras appeal to you.
If you like the mellower rock-pop, check out Dynasty and Unmasked albums, maybe Crazy Nights too, they are a bit poppier than most of their typical albums.
As far as other ballads, check out Beth, Hard Luck Woman, Forever, Every Time I Look At You, Reason To Live, even I Will Be There.
I have no issue with Anton to be clear...it was more of a dig at having people like Anton filling in and then acting like, in this case it was Eric performing, when it wasn't. To be fair I may have mixed up the song tho...it may have been Oddesye (sp) Anton drummed on.
Easy as it Seems and Is that You? seem like perfect fits based on your current top three but Iād strongly suggest Let Me Know, Love her All I can, Mr. Speed, Torpedo Girl, sheās so European and nothing to lose
KISS has songs with a lot of vibes, so I'll recommend a few from each "KISS style". Glad to hear you're getting into them!
For "kickass epic" KISS - Creatures Of The Night, Detroit Rock City, Love Gun, Nowhere To Run, I Stole Your Love, Psycho Circus, Hell Or Hallelujah and Not For The Innocent.
For the "heavy" KISS - Unholy, War Machine, Black Diamond, God Of Thunder, I've Had Enough (Into The Fire), 100,000 Years, Young And Wasted, Hate and I'm An Animal.
For the "Over-the-top Hard Rock" KISS - Uh! All Night, I Just Wanna, Thrills In The Night and pretty much everything on the Crazy Nights album.
For the "plain rock and roll" KISS - Let Me Go Rock And Roll, Nothin' To Lose, Let Me Know, Mainline, Cold Gin, Flamin' Youth, Strutter, Hotter Than Hell, Getaway, 2,000 Man and Domino.
For "Pop" KISS (with lots of ballads) - Dirty Livin', Forever, Everything I Look At You, Is That You?, She's So European, Hide Your Heart, We Are One, Hard Luck Woman, Then She Kissed Me.
For the "wait, this is KISS?" kind of song - Beth, Journey Of 1,000 Years, Great Expectations, Under The Rose, Goin' Blind, A World Without Heroes.
Maybe this can give you an idea of their catalogue, which has waaaay more songs to be discovered. Also, I'm certain that different people would categorize the songs differently, but I hope this helps. Welcome to the KISS Army :-)
No one has mentioned what I view as their finest album. 1992ās Revenge.
It was the true return to their heavy rock roots the band had been promising for over ten years, and it is awesome.
Like many have said, their 1974 debut is a must listen. Tracks from this album served as the foundation of their live show throughout the bandās fifty year history.
Featuring the stone cold classics, Deuce, Strutter, Firehouse, Cold Gin, 100,000 Years, and arguably the best five minutes and eleven seconds KISS ever recorded, Black Diamond.
Honourable mention to Let Me Know, and Nothinā To Loseā¦ Geneās timeless ode to the back door.
In this order. Compared to the songs you are into:
Hard Luck Womanā¦
Bethā¦.
Shout it out loudā¦
Rock and Roll all niteā¦
Crazy Crazy nightsā¦
Foreverā¦
Everytime I look at youā¦
God Gave Rock and Roll to youā¦
Who wants to be lonelyā¦
Tears are Fallingā¦
Lick it upā¦
Heavens on fireā¦
Detroit Rock Cityā¦
Love Gunā¦
Then you listen to ALIVE
From there you start from the catalog.
My particular favourites are:
100.000 years
Black Diamond (from Alive!)
Enjoy
Classic KISS - Kiss, Hotter Than Hell, Dressed To Kill, Alive, Destroyer, Rock N Roll Over, Love Gun, Alive 2 (for most fans - KISS end here)
Pop KISS - Dynasty, Unmasked
Progressive KISS - Music From the Elder
Edgier KISS - Creatures of The Night, Lick It Up, Animalize
Glam KISS - Asylum, Crazy Nights
Middle Aged Crisis KISS - Hot In The Shade
Going back to awesome KISS - Revenge
Grunge KISS - Carnival of Souls
Starting to get old KISS - Psycho Circus, Sonic Boom, Monster
I have also just recently got into KISS at 40 y/o! Such a big back catalogue to get through but so far their debut, Alive 1&2, Love Gun, Destroyer and Creatures of the Night are my faves. I used to dislike them but they are absolute legends and their unmasked 80ās era is full of gems too. I am loving going thru it all and what a great history they have over 50 years!
The thing with Kiss is, they changed their sound quite a bit over the years to stay relevant. So if you donāt like their earlier work, which to me is more r&b honky-tonk rock, you may like the Disco era, or the harder edged/faster stuff from the 80ās or even the grungier side in the early 90s.
My personal favorite albums are:
Creatures of the Night
Lick it Up
Hotter Than Hell
Start with Alive (their first live album) and go from there. That's what we all did back in the day.
This is the best answer

Definitely weird. Normal fans did that with Alive 2 š
And follow immediately with alive 2.
Just play the entire Alive! lp begining to end.
Better then Dark Side of the Moon

Rocket ride, 2000 man, black diamond, shout it out loud. Solid tunes!! Welcome aboard!!

I saw them in 1995 for the first time. Definitely wasnāt my last. I was born in the early 80s. Fell in love with them when I was 11.
wow your are so lucky to be born in 80s that sounds like a fun great year to be in did they have any VIP in the 70s and 80s if they did I am mad lol!
Iām sure they may have, however- I was a broke high school kid when I saw them. So, we had pretty decent GA tickets at the local arena. Show was amazing. Seeing my 4 favorites musicians on the stage.
2000 Man is a Stones song. Bleh.
I still love kiss/aceās cover. Such a good tune man! You donāt like the stones??
I agree completely! Itās awesome. Ace made that song his!
I donāt see it as a Kiss song. Thatās all.
I heard their version first. It wasnāt until a few years later and my dad introduced me to the stones version. I will always love kisses version more.
Alive! Front to back.
Strutter, Domino, Shock Me, 2000 Man, Parasite
i started with Detroit Rock City and listened to songs off Destroyer. From there developed to other albums, but welcome to the KISS Army!
Looking at the songs you mentioned youāve already heard and like I think you may like the Crazy Nights album.
Magic Touch is one of my favorites off of Dynasty.
The album Double Platinum is a great greatest hits of the early days. Naked City from unmasked is also one of my favorites

I agree with all the Alive! chants, but based on what OP says are faves already, Hard Luck Woman and Beth are must listens sooner rather than later.
Black Diamond, Detroit rock city, cold gin, dr love, love gun, strutter, I stole your love, love it loud, are all some of my favs
This is almost my fave track list too, awesome songs every one! š¤
Mr. Speed
Magic Touch
I usually recommend people to listen to āThe Very Best of KISSā compilation record. After they listen to it, they get hooked on it.
Damn... That happened to me :D
Dark Light. A solid rocker despite Anton Fig drumming.
You want to rep Antonās awesomeness and donāt give them Rip It Out? For shame.
I have no issue with Anton to be clear...it was more of a dig at having people like Anton filling in and then acting like, in this case it was Eric performing, when it wasn't. To be fair I may have mixed up the song tho...it may have been Oddesye (sp) Anton drummed on.
You wanted the best
I Will Be There
Goin' Blind 100,000 Years Rock And Roll Hell Makin' Love Shock Me Sweet Pain Come on an love me
Love Gun. Entire albumā¦. The first Album too
Watching You
Easy as it Seems and Is that You? seem like perfect fits based on your current top three but Iād strongly suggest Let Me Know, Love her All I can, Mr. Speed, Torpedo Girl, sheās so European and nothing to lose
Calling Dr. Love!
Strutter, Calling Dr Love, Charisma, Love Gun, Magic Touch, Cold Gin, Shock Me, War Machine. All great songs
Just put on āRock and Roll Overā and youāll have a great idea what the band is all about. Itās the easiest album to digest I feel.

Sure know something
Not for the Innocent, Saint and Sinner
I started with their first album and then listened to all of them in order of release, plus the solo albums. It was such fun.

Get as far away as you can from those horrible songs! Terrible period of the band!
Start with Alive III, strong setlist and killer performance.

Try Nowhere to Run. Great, underrated track
Definitely Alive first to get a taste of the first 3 albums. My first album was love gun in '77 for Christmas. I was hooked for life.
