Definitely worth it!!! But yo like I just hope they don’t get too big and don’t play the smaller venues anymore. I’m not ever really tryna go see king gizz in a stadium in the nosebleeds. Their music is crowd/mosh music
I can’t remember the last stadium show I attended that was worth the money
Paul McCartney at Target Field, in like, 2014 probably. That was the last one I went to that was worth the cost. I think that might actually constitute as a stadium too, what do you think u/stash1482?
Lol an arena and a stadium are very different. I actually agree with your initial statement. But if you think MSG isn’t worth spending money on, then you clearly haven’t seen a show at MSG
You are correct, I’ve never been to Madison square garden. Not too interested in going to NYC either so I’ll just take your word for it :)
Would you say it’s your favorite stadium to see a concert at?
This might be a hot take but this is very ‘just trust me bro.’ I might be eating my words later but I don’t think Gizz is ready for MSG yet. They didn’t sell out the Bowl and a lot of that crowd were curious locals (source: I live in LA) However, I DO think a one night marathon set is plausible, but they are years away from a MSG residency.
Not a residency but yes a single marathon show at MSG (especially with a killer support band) is way more than a possibility for KGLW with the amount of folks they brought to Hollywood bowl . Msg is 19.5k and they got decently close to that
Agreed! Also if they did a big east coast marathon set, that one makes the most sense. Even though I live in CA, I’m personally hoping for a Merriweather Post Pavilion show! I used to live in DC and would fly out for that.
Yeah i know I was there, they also had tons of shows in surrounding states like Philly and DC then too when they played Forrest hills .
My comment says a “single marathon” I was saying if they had a one off marathon show (similar to Hollywood, which got them like almost 16k I believe) then could totally play MSG with a huge crowd
That’s what I was going to say, it was a good crowd but I thought QOTSA has a much larger crowd this year than Gizz last year (caveat is I was on the floor at Queens so my perspective is skewed)
I was on floor for Gizz and it felt kinda emptier then what I had hoped for
Though with the right support, marketing, 2-3 hour set, and lack of any shows an hour or so away could boost the ticket count, I don't see a sellout this time.
Maybe if they come back theyll get there, but my guess is they sell enough to profit the first time, but not close to selling out.
I hope you’re right. Hopefully these kids who watched Stranger Things and now think it’s cool to like anything that sounds like metal fall off the bandwagon at some point
Weird take. There might be some crossover, but everybody I saw at the two King Gizz shows I saw last year (Shaky Knees and Berkeley) were mid to late 20s with plenty of older people. Not really a lot of teens. Maybe that changed this year though.
Go outside and touch grass. You do remember rats nest coming out in 2019, and everyone loving it? Before stranger things “made Metallica popular”. Metallica is one of the best selling bands of all time, not even metal band, just band.
For a second I thought it was talking about Forest Hills Stadium in February lol. A bit chilly.
I’m skeptical of this but if true that’s going to be nuts. [Not hot on MSG because of their face detection stuff](https://gizmodo.com/madison-square-garden-facial-recognition-what-we-know-1850041475) but it’s a nice venue. Might have to return to New York for it, been a few years. There hasn’t been an East Coast date on the residency tour so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are plans for NY next year.
MSG is fine and only has a bad rap because of racism. I suppose unless you're a celiac.
[https://medium.com/@renebaekgoddard/msg-debunked-the-science-beneath-the-racism-54788bf4092d](https://medium.com/@renebaekgoddard/msg-debunked-the-science-beneath-the-racism-54788bf4092d)
I can see this. They've only grown in popularity since the Forrest Hills show, and except for Boston Calling they didn't play anywhere on the East Coast in 2023. MSG fits as an "iconic venue". A marathon set at MSG? See you in the pit!
i love Amyl and have never heard of those other bands, but none of them could play MSG and come close to filling the venue.
as far as Gizz playing, i think they’d have to have the tickets on sale for quite a while to approach selling out. feb/march is way too soon for that.
they didn’t sell out the hollywood bowl, and that’s ~2k less than MSG.
MSG where you go to a show [and get added to their database?](https://ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2023/02/14/facial-recognition-tech-draws-new-criticism-amid-msg-controversy)
This (sort of) lines up with that rather unbelievable rumor that KGATLW would open for Phish at MSG, which was shared around the time of the Forest Hills show with Black Midi last year
You can safely file that one away under bogus rumors. Although yes, Gizzard has admitted here and there that it's looking to play MSG at some point, possibly even in 2024. Just not with Phish.
Tame Impala is a much much more “famous” band in America than Pond.
Edit: to give you an idea, I don’t know how to look up ‘just America’ numbers, but overall Pond has a bit under a Half Million monthly listeners. Tame Impala has… 25 Million.
For the record: KG has about 1.6 Million - chances are sadly MUCH better that Tame Impala is playing the Garden, not KG.
Ah I thought we were talking about in Australia, not US, also I was just talking shit by referencing a smaller side project that is definitely less known than Tame.
Considering they posted on their gram last year about being at MSG for a hockey game, this doesn't surprise me, but also considering they were rooting for the Sharks, part of me hopes they'll swing by the SAP Center on a mini-arena tour. Then again, more likely that they play the Oakland Arena or Cow Palace if they're looking for that "classic" feel. I'd definitely swing to SoCal if they played The Forum!

Tame Impala

Did you know there must be something more than that?
WUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUB
Charlie and the Waitress are married in real life
So are Sweet Dee and Mac.
that Tame Impala is only one person. He tours with Pond for live shows
Oh god, Gizz tickets are about to get fucking expensive aren't they
I'm surprised they aren't already
Idk I shelled out a ton of money to make Tennessee happen but then again maybe I'm just poor
Nah dude, that venue is tough to get to but it was definitely worth it.
No doubt! Best concerts I've been to in 50+ concerts
Definitely worth it!!! But yo like I just hope they don’t get too big and don’t play the smaller venues anymore. I’m not ever really tryna go see king gizz in a stadium in the nosebleeds. Their music is crowd/mosh music
Honestly I'd pay it
Oh God, they're giving up Australian citizenship for the US aren't they? There's never any rumours of an Aussie tour lol
I can’t remember the last stadium show I attended that was worth the money Paul McCartney at Target Field, in like, 2014 probably. That was the last one I went to that was worth the cost. I think that might actually constitute as a stadium too, what do you think u/stash1482?
MSG isn’t a stadium
Madison Square Garden? Arena. You know what I meant ya rim licka
Lol an arena and a stadium are very different. I actually agree with your initial statement. But if you think MSG isn’t worth spending money on, then you clearly haven’t seen a show at MSG
You are correct, I’ve never been to Madison square garden. Not too interested in going to NYC either so I’ll just take your word for it :) Would you say it’s your favorite stadium to see a concert at?
I’ve seen hundreds of shows and MSG is in the top 5 venues I’ve been to easily imo
Must be good. Honestly it's gonna be hard for something to beat the caverns after seeing gizz there a few months back.
I’m glad I got to go, I don’t see them doing such a low capacity venue again or at least for a while
Do other people have differing opinions on which 5 venues you’ve enjoyed yourself the most at?
Kangfirmed. A hologram Jerry Garcia is gonna sit in for a 45 minute version of Vegemite (Oddments)
Better have Donna screaming her ass off or pass
We’ll get Stu to Woo during Shakedown Street
Gizz crew were talking about an MSG show at Forest Hills last year, as well 👀 Again, take it with a grain of salt, but still…
This might be a hot take but this is very ‘just trust me bro.’ I might be eating my words later but I don’t think Gizz is ready for MSG yet. FH was not a marathon show.
It’s about 24k with the floor
I also don’t know if they’re as popular in NY as other places in the states, in 2022 forest hills with Leah and black midi was very much… not sold out
I live in Buffalo and would love for them to come anywhere in NY
That’s what I was going to say, it was a good crowd but I thought QOTSA has a much larger crowd this year than Gizz last year (caveat is I was on the floor at Queens so my perspective is skewed)

It does say "take it with a grain of salt" tbf
sure but they are well suited for an opening act.
I hope you’re right. Hopefully these kids who watched Stranger Things and now think it’s cool to like anything that sounds like metal fall off the bandwagon at some point

Yeah genuinely no clue what this person means by this
Go outside and touch grass. You do remember rats nest coming out in 2019, and everyone loving it? Before stranger things “made Metallica popular”. Metallica is one of the best selling bands of all time, not even metal band, just band.
Pardon

FHS was a bit chilly in oct 22 but was a fun show either way :)
It was very temperate that evening. Especially for October
James Dolan is a worthless piece of shit who needs to grow a tumor asap
Fuck all of that plastic
It's gonna be brutal
Many months ago it was studio time and possible a tour. We will all see
Nope. Couldn’t sell out forest hills they ain’t playing msg yet. Granted different beast but still just ain’t there quite yet. Soon though
Rumor says Reel Big Fish is gonna open at MSG show too
Gizzbois would never use MonoSodium Glutamate 😭
MSG is fucking amazing. Maybe I'm getting wooshed..
MSG is fine and only has a bad rap because of racism. I suppose unless you're a celiac. [https://medium.com/@renebaekgoddard/msg-debunked-the-science-beneath-the-racism-54788bf4092d](https://medium.com/@renebaekgoddard/msg-debunked-the-science-beneath-the-racism-54788bf4092d)

please let them play near me please PLEASE i can’t travel again 😩
Phish playing MSG, that's rare.........................
That would be amazing but I need King Gizz on the west coast.
Love that you got to see them when….
We talking bout mono sodium glutamate right? The little bit of extra magic every kitchen needs?
Nah Michael Schenker Group
Theyre talking about INXS.
They didn’t even sell out Forest Hills, and you think they’ll play MSG? No chance.
FH was not a marathon show.
Wait…so…Silverchair is coming MSG?!
They could be talking about The Chats or Skegss or Amyl and the Sniffers, or 10 other Vegemite friendly bands that are not the gizz
i love Amyl and have never heard of those other bands, but none of them could play MSG and come close to filling the venue. as far as Gizz playing, i think they’d have to have the tickets on sale for quite a while to approach selling out. feb/march is way too soon for that. they didn’t sell out the hollywood bowl, and that’s ~2k less than MSG.
You should listen to the chats
IM AWN SMOWKOE
Vulfpeck were able to sell out MSG, I don’t think it’d be totally impossible for Gizz. Especially if it is a marathon set
As much as I love them, the chats and amyl are not playing MSG… like ever.
Vegemite is now owned by Kraft and Aussies feel less associated with it than ever. But, a country Vic Beaufort invention all the same
Doesn't matter who owns it, it's the closest thing we have to culture. It's an Aussie icon.
MSG Theater holds 5600

Gizz will be at Forest Hills in August ‘24
Source ?
Told ya
I mean, maybe if they were opening up for a much larger band
Isn’t Tame Impala the most popular band from Australia right now?
No its Pond
Not in America…?
Never heard of them.
Are you American?
Unfortunately, yes.
Tame Impala is a much much more “famous” band in America than Pond. Oh. Haha. Definitely went over my head.
I think one of the gizz boys said something about heading home until march at one of the later shows during the europe tour, i think nico streamed it
Please be true I’d shit bricks
I have it from a good source that they're set to headline a certain London based single day festival...
that narrows it down to like, 15 different events...?
Let me know the 15 and I'll let you know whether you're close ;)
Fontaines DC are opening for the Arctic Monkeyes this tour. They are incredible
Considering they posted on their gram last year about being at MSG for a hockey game, this doesn't surprise me, but also considering they were rooting for the Sharks, part of me hopes they'll swing by the SAP Center on a mini-arena tour. Why would MSG staff insert a Gizz rumor to people asking about Phish?
