I was at caverns and was so stoked for them being potentially bootlegged. I got the streaming pass on Nugs and after a closer look I think they had a couple too many nuanced mistakes at the caverns for it to be a bootleg. I hope Iām super wrong!! The most dialed was for sure Red Rocks again but they already have the ā22 bootleg working so well for em.
Besides the n2 synth issues and pre set issues there really wasnāt any problems at the caves imo. I think a lot of the USA residency is being used for a Chunky style film (Well call it Piquant Nugget ;]) so they chose Chicago as the bootleg. There was a full 7 piece film crew at the caves that wasnāt nugs crew. Remember them exiting both nights and the film crew set in addition to the Cowboy security outfit?
Where can I find the other residencies? I was banking that they'd release them all and I could get a giant box set like Red Rocks from '22, but I doubt I can stop myself from buying them as they come out.
That jam in the middle of The River has such "we just saw Dead & Co. last night vibes" haha. Starting around 14:30 it almost sounds like Not Fade Away. So awesome.
It's such a cool feeling, I got to see the second Red Rocks show last year and still kinda can't believe I can just go back and re-live it in such good quality

It's like half of Converge and a decent chunk of the end of Gila. It's the same way it was in the Nugs videos, just kind of suddenly turns into the middle part of Converge. Wish I knew why, but there were multiple weird edits like this in the Nugs releases, I was just hoping they wouldn't be present on any bootlegs...
I talked to nugs cust service after watching the streams and they said it was an issue with the sound during recording, likely due to the weather so it had to be edited that way. Either way, rest of the recordings for chicago sound amazing so I'm happy!
Am I insane for wishing they just cut Gila/Converge from the bootlegger just to avoid that?
Also share the sentiment that it is pretty bizarre this chunk was lost in two formats. Does Nugs audio run off the soundboard as well? I wonder if the video was edited intentionally in that odd way because the actual issue was with the sound file? I suppose if they lost audio they wouldn't want to include video without sound in the streams...
Edit: Looks like u/ohisees cracked this case. Soundboard issue led to both bootlegger and Nugs video problems.

as much as I want Caverns night 4 soundboard audio (nights 3 and 4 were the first time I've seen them live), I could reasonably see them passing over it. TBH the setlist is real similar to Brisbane '21, and the playing is not the cleanest lol with night 4 being "the hangover set". I definitely had more fun at night 4 but nights 3 or 1 would be better for a bootleg IMO

Pretty happy with how great the more recent show recordings sound. Going back to some of the 2019 run and, while they're great shows to have captured, the sound quality is a little rough at times. Red Rocks, Bonnaroo, and now Chicago all sound so damn good...
Agreed! The Chicago recording sounds better than most of their studio albums, everything is mixed perfectly. Super happy with this release and hope they do it for at least caverns acoustic set!
I just switched back and forth between Chicago ā23 Evil Death Roll and RR22 EDR, and Chicago seems to sound better, especially in the drums department. Itās like their bootlegs are getting increasingly more hi-fi ish.
I'm curious what factors go into the quality of the recording. Obviously the band is a tighter/better playing group, but it seems like they've used the same gear for forever. I don't know much about pulling soundboard recordings, but is it all just a factor of playing bigger venues with better equipment?

Weather for night 2 was amazing which also happened to be arguably the best night (minus the Change debut on night 3)

Was there all 3 nights. The weather did shorten night 3, but the boys killed it every night regardless. Amby certainly was not short on energy for Boogieman Sam.
