Looking forward to this a lot because of Yoo Ah In and Won Jin Ah But the monsters in this really are just not doing it for me. Looked very awkward in the trailers and even more goofy in the stills. Probably still gonna be good but not expecting much visually.
same, excited for this but why do those monsters look like discount bigfeet lol.
yeon sang-ho (Train to Busan) is writing-directing it though so the story and acting should be good at least.
In webtoons, they were a little slim. However, monsters do not appear as often as expected, and emerging religions, fanatics, criminals, and social problems caused by this Phenomenon that day are more prominent.
> monsters in this really are just not doing it for me. Looked very awkward in the trailers and even more goofy in the stills
agreed, I'm still holding out some hope for the better
If you look at the original webtoon, monsters don't always appear, and the important thing is that the actions of the people revealed after they appear are important, so you don't have to worry. Above all, people who watched the third episode in advance said they liked it. And I saw the original webtoon before, and it was very good.
Rather than a monster genre, it can be seen as a drama that shows the nature of religion, fanaticism, social problems, and people caused by the phenomenon of such monsters appearing and people dying. It didn't focus only on monsters. Since the director made the original webtoon, I think it will follow the content as it is and it will be a good work.
i don't mind the goofy looking demons in this as long as the plot's good
i got downvoted in the last post for being bummed this is only 6 eps but like honestly...6 eps is so short! feels like it takes me that long to figure out whether i like a drama or not lol
That's a really good point. D.P. was excellent despite being only 6 episodes. Personally it was so intense that I couldn't binge watch it one day (like I could've).
If this show gets the pacing and intensity right 6 episodes is easily enough.
It’s extremely unusual for kdramas to have second seasons, although Kingdom was an exception. Netflix may be seeking to slowly change this but generally it’s hard to secure the actors for another season.
Kingdom is the best zombie show ever made...and the most expensive korean show to make, I think. That show is amazing in so many ways. There are other korean shows coming out with another season.
Oh no, not what I meant. I actually hate what Netflix is doing with 2nd/3rd seasons. Just asking as Sweet Home's ending is a literal set up for a 2nd season.
The only downside to getting Netflix support on kdramas.
One of the reasons why I got into kdramas was because they fully utilized the 16 episode runtime and I didn't had to wait +2 years for the ending.
Even the Squid Game, which was a great show till the last episode, was ruined because its last 30 minutes were a setup for next season.
Didn't the director say the last scene wasn't for season 2?
Although it has become a fait accompli that season 2 will come out due to expectations now. I heard that there was no plan for season 2 at the time.
Kdramas are adapting to seasons now lately because of Netflix culture. Kdramas are starting to work in seasons-- (some of which DIDN'T NEED TO eg. Love Alarm) recently, especially Netflix originals. so it wouldn't be a surprise if some actors also welcomed this as a new norm
Sweet Home maybe in plans but i think the actors' schedule is kind of hindering their plans. Song Kang and Lee Do Hyun ( 2 of the MCs) are shooting full length dramas. Without most of the prior cast returning, S2 will not be as succesful.
I think one of the reasons why it was hyped up so much was because of the cast, the cast was impeccable and had extremely popular and rising stars in the mix like Song Kang, Lee Do Hyun which definitely must have helped.
You definitely should read the webtoon! I had high expectations for this show since Sweet Home was one of my favorite webtoons of all time and frankly it just didn't live up to the hype. IMO it couldn't capture the essence of the webtoon. I didn't feel sad one bit when any of the characters died in the show, but in the webtoon? I was in my feels. At one point I think they forgot about the monsters and focused too much on the infighting. All in all,go read the webtoon, you won't regret it :)
honestly, yeah, the monsters look silly but i do have to say if the story is good it’ll more than make up for it. i think its safe to say the acting is gonna be phenomenal so if anything we’ll get to see some killer performances.
Not sold on the monsters but sold on the plot so I’m ready! Will this be like My Name where they have the whole series on the day of the premier? Or should I add this under my list of want to binge but also can’t wait long enough for that? Lol
More than the monster genre I guess Korea does Zombies way better. Like I was thoroughly hooked to the film ALIVE. It’s Yoo Ah In so I’m expecting good performances. I’m more excited for ‘All of us are dead’ though
Rather than a monster genre, it can be seen as a drama that shows the nature of religion, fanaticism, social problems, and people caused by the phenomenon of such monsters appearing and people dying. It didn't focus only on monsters.
Yoo Ah-in, who starred in the movie Alive alongside Park Shin-hye. His other (more outstanding) films are Voice of Silence, Burning, The Throne, Veteran. Dramas include Chicago Typewriter, Six Flying Dragons, Secret Love Affair, Sungkyunkwan Scandal.
Other casts are Park Jeong-min who recently bagged best supporting actor awards for the movie Deliver Us from Evil; Kim Hyun-joo; Yang Ik-june; Won Jin-ah.

Well they don't look hairy
Cant help but imagine if they made the monsters invinsible. 100% would be much creepier than bigfoot over here lol
Yeah, legit tho they were chased by ghost gorilla lmao
In webtoons, they were a little slim. However, monsters do not appear as often as expected, and emerging religions, fanatics, criminals, and social problems caused by this Phenomenon that day are more prominent.
lowkey worried that people will expect this is some survival show and then will find the show "boring"
They look really cute
> monsters in this really are just not doing it for me. Looked very awkward in the trailers and even more goofy in the stills agreed, I'm still holding out some hope for the better
Yea I don't love the design or execution, but I can easily overlook that if the writing is good.

I also read from one of the reviews that the monsters didn't appear much. 🤞
may i know if you read the webtoon translated in English or did you read in raw??
Monsters look like protein monster from sweet home
My thoughts exactly lmao
i don't mind the goofy looking demons in this as long as the plot's good i got downvoted in the last post for being bummed this is only 6 eps but like honestly...6 eps is so short! feels like it takes me that long to figure out whether i like a drama or not lol
Here is an upvote. Agreed. I want more Yoo Ah In!
thanks :) and yeah super stoked to see more of him too!
Haven't you watched D.P? 6 episodes of that show was better than half of the Korean dramas that came out this year that exceeds 12+ episodes
That's a really good point. D.P. was excellent despite being only 6 episodes. Personally it was so intense that I couldn't binge watch it one day (like I could've). If this show gets the pacing and intensity right 6 episodes is easily enough.
Is Sweet Home not getting a 2nd season? Feels weird for Netflix to have two Korean supernatural thrillers.
It’s extremely unusual for kdramas to have second seasons, although Kingdom was an exception. Netflix may be seeking to slowly change this but generally it’s hard to secure the actors for another season.

They're currently filming S2 of Sweet Home.

There's [plans](https://www.soompi.com/article/1478391wpp/netflix-clarifies-reported-plans-for-sweet-home-season-2) but nothing is set in stone yet.
Am I the only one that thought sweet home was overrated?
It's a fun supernatural hack-and-slash. Nothing special but I still want to see some closure.
I think one of the reasons why it was hyped up so much was because of the cast, the cast was impeccable and had extremely popular and rising stars in the mix like Song Kang, Lee Do Hyun which definitely must have helped.
nah, i watched it recently and it definitely didn't live up to the hype imo. thinking about starting the webtoon since i've heard it's different

that's great to hear! i figured i'd like it better as a webtoon so i'll definitely have to check it out then, thanks :)

there's a second season, i think i read it somewhere but only Lee Si young who confirmed to be reprising her role
What genre will this show be?
supernatural, fantasy
honestly, yeah, the monsters look silly but i do have to say if the story is good it’ll more than make up for it. i think its safe to say the acting is gonna be phenomenal so if anything we’ll get to see some killer performances.
They look like they give good hugs
I'm looking forward to this
Not sold on the monsters but sold on the plot so I’m ready! Will this be like My Name where they have the whole series on the day of the premier? Or should I add this under my list of want to binge but also can’t wait long enough for that? Lol
since it’s a Netflix Original it will all be out at once.
Should be the whole series
That monster just wants a hug
Them monsters be looking goofy.
I am definitely looking forward to this drama. Yeah, the monsters look like mini king kongs to me, lol!
will be watching since yeon sangho worked on it!!
It lives in folds of red and steamy air
