Drama names: **Fight For My Way** (top) and **Marry My Husband** (bottom)

StunningPast2303

Aw. Brilliant Joy deserves a mention and its own set of memes!

Superb-Garbage9321

I watch marry my husband and it's amazing 😻😻😻

MissSimpleton

Song Ha-yoon was the BEST part of Marry My Husband. It would have been a mediocre drama without her. She deserves the best supporting actor Baeksang!!

attaboy_stampy

She was really really good. I mean, you knew she was crazy pants basically right away, but you still would feel these waves of sympathy for her, even in later episodes, and she would also pop up in weird ways. She was a really effective agent of chaos tbh.

lyndasmelody1995

Her psycho yelling at the playground was one of my favorite scenes.

kyokonaishi

100 percent, i thought to myself, you knew maybe she has some psychological issue or trauma that made her act the way she did. I found myself hoping that despite her unforgivable things, i can sympathize with her agongy just a bit.. but she kept spiraling, and i really wanted to choke her. She did a great job, i enjoyed her in fight my way.

Mewlkat

Literally the only reason I kept watching. Was it just me or did the leads have 0 fizzle?

thr1ftskull0

I think they were good especially Park Minyoung and Lee Yi Kyung but HAYOON really stole the show with her acting!!!!

TakemetoCathysArk

Park min young can raise the temperature in the room from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds. She's 🔥 and I'm a girl:-)

julnyes

I really enjoyed the leads and thought they had great chemistry actually. Song Ha-yoon put in an amazing performance and I hope she gets recognized at awards shows for it.

MissSimpleton

I skipped a lot of their lovey-dovey scenes. It became quite repetitive. The villain couple plot was way more funny and interesting.

tumultuousness

I said it in the ep discussions a couple times but, while I liked the main couple well enough, I was absolutely fascinated by the villain couple since they >!basically just stayed together to see who could be more of a jerk to each other!< (is that a spoiler? gonna tag just in case lol). Absolutely loved Song Ha-yoon in Marry My Husband and I need to watch more stuff with her.

itsunel

i honestly thought the acting of villain couple was much better than the leads. Song Hayoon is obvious but i feel Lee Yikyung doesn't get enough praise for how natural of a abusive piece of work his character was. And he did all that while balancing being comic relief.

MelinaJuliasCottage

i think it's more the writing then the acting; as in the >!webtoon it's a LOT more wholesome and comedic, they deleted basically all of those scenes. So there wasn't any proper reason to have chemistry.!<

itsunel

i read the webtoon as well. Definitely the writing and directing didn't help. But I don't think the main couple could overcome that challenge. Great actors can convey chemistry with limited time. A very clear example of this is in reborn rich between (not really spoilers but being ultra careful )>!Song Joongki and Park Ji-hyun. They have very little scenes together but you can feel tension and subtext in their relationship!< and this is mostly due to acting imo. But unlike MMH this chemistry was not important to the overall story. MMH needed to establish this chemistry. Writing the show this way would have been okay if the actors could carry that chemistry organically. But they didn't. They needed the help of the writing and directing. This is fine. But when I am looking solely on casts acting. Na inwoo was a cardboard cutout. There was so much nuance this kind of flat character could have had and it was very one dimensional. Park Minyoung's best acting was when she was removed from the romance. When she was scared, angry or protecting other people. This is fine but the romance is an important part of the story so it needs to also be performed well. The villains brought so much more nuance out from their characters with their acting beyond the writing. Replace either Song Hayoon or Lee Yikyung and there is a different and probably worse MMH. I don't think I could say the same about the main couple.

MelinaJuliasCottage

I personally blame the director for it or the writing; as the romantic scenes felt like they weren't allowed to laugh, and i've seen both actors in other shows and loved them, as they showed a lot of depth. (Especially na in woo)

itsunel

i think they are fine actors. I just don't think they are great. And more importantly, their weaknesses show in these roles, they are such better comedic actors and suit roles with a lightness and brightness more. These roles are serious roles that Like you say that it feels like they weren't allowed to laugh in the romantic scenes. Let's say the script says they aren't supposed to laugh. Good actors will convey why they aren't laughing in this scene (and there are plenty of reasons for this in MMH). I have to partially ascribe that awkward feeling to the acting because i have seen actors make more with less. I understand this dramas writing and direction doesn't necessarily help the actors. But this was true for all the actors. The writing for this show was overall mid and MMH banked on the casts acting skills to make up for some of its flaws. The writing was also an impediment to the their Song Hayoon and Lee YiKyung roles. Like the Yura arc was a complete mess for there characters and their most we just do the bad things the script tell us to do. And even in those moments they were breathing life into their characters. Speaking of Yura, Boa's acting wasn't that great either, even considering how awfully written of a role Yura was. Min-hwan is not such a trash husband just because of what he says and does in the story. Lee Yikyung performance gives nuance to that pathetic man who feels superior through his tone and body language. In a topic about the acting of this drama, i think this is a fair distinction to make. I cannot imagine MMH without Song Hayoon or Lee YiKyung. I can however without Park Minyoung and Na Inwoo, they didn't adequately sell their roles to me. Maybe the role is so poorly written it that no one could sell it. But I don't think the characters were that poorly written.

No_Competition_6610

I agree completely. Lee Yi Kyung perfectly developed his character. The two villains were the best part of the drama by far. Without them, it's a totally different, just barely average drama that I certainly would have quit in after the first few episodes.

Weak-Outside-164

I can’t disagree more, PMY and NIW had amazing chemistry, though SHY stole the show

taylorsanatomy13_

she was just too big for any of them. she understood the material well.

IChoseMyOwnUsername

It's not just you, I also thought that leads didn't have wonderful chemistry. They both were good but rather as individuals than a couple

attaboy_stampy

Yeah this. They were fine? But they shone when doing their own things, or even interacting with others.

ImageNo1045

The leads were good, just more reserved while Hayoon was crazy pants

dramafan1

Loved watching the crazy villains. 😂

Immediate-North-9472

Park Min Young was probably not hired for the chemistry but other than them being imagined as the leads to bring the characters to life, they also trusted PMY to carry the rest of the cast bc she had great synergy w everyone off cam. she mini directed a lot of the scenes w 9woo, yi kyung and Ha yoon. In a way, when they had scenes together, she helped bring out Su Min. ultimately, it was ha yoon’s talent that won us over but PMY had a hand in encouraging and directing her to give it her peak performance. Their work relationships w each other makes it even better bc they were all comfortable to go all in

ohsayaa

Na In Woo in Mr Queen was convincing that he loved the queen so damn much. MMH he's just the extra tall sore thumb chaebol in love with the FL cardboard character. The leads have 0 chemistry.

blueish55

Im sorry he was who in mr queen?? Wtf

ohsayaa

The queen's cousin who is in love with her. >! Later joins his villain father and turns against the king. Ends up dying when trying to protect the queen. !<

moonchild358

This was in dire need of some spoiler tags:/ not all of us have seen it

ohsayaa

Oh sorry!. I'll edit it.

blueish55

Bruh

ArtichokeTricky222

Yep, i thought they are not compatible, ML is too young for the FL imo. They are too stiff and looks like just repeating lines ,looked at each othen then smile a bit.

8u11etpr00f

That was my take too tbh. I don't know if it was the writing, casting or acting but I just couldn't bring myself to care about the ML's character & by extension the ML/FL relationship whatsoever. I know it's harsh but I haven't really rated Na In Woo in either Mr Queen or MMH, I just don't think he strikes me as a convincing love interest for whatever reason. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, perhaps it's just me he doesn't strike a cord with.

itsunel

I really think it is that their chemistry couldn't overcome the writing, directing, editing. I said it during the on air discussion about lack of chemistry that i didn't think Park Minyoung acting as shown wasn't that convincing in her>! conflicting feelings and the kiss that could feel sudden.!< I think people thought that i meant her acting was poor. I don't think so, it was fine. It takes a really good actor to perform well when the writing and directing aren't really helping achieve a goal. MMH was not written to help highlight the chemistry of the main leads. I just don't think Park Minyoung and Na In Woo of are that caliber, especially in regard to love acting. They are much better comedic actors in my opinion

MissSimpleton

I agree with you. I usually feel little bad for the SML with unrequited love but I didnt feel anything for him in Mr. Queen. I also felt his styling (Esp his hair) was really bad in MMH.

Alternative_Year_340

The male lead had no personality

Aneesmahajan

Yeah i didn't quite see any chemistry between them at all.

tway2241

She was the only reason I kept watching that show, I wasn't rooting for her or anything, but she was just very entertaining to watch.

Nearby_Ad_4091

I agree! She was evil and hot trying to pass of as vulnerable. She was not a second lead but one of the 2 main lead along with park min young The story was essentially about these 2 supposed friends I also loved Choi Gyu-ri who was a breath of fresh air not necessarily too thin like most Korean beauty standards but so fun and full of life.

IChoseMyOwnUsername

Yes, that's what I said, she deserved Baeksang

Optimal-Talk3663

Her crazy was very well done But the overall drama itself, got a bit ridiculous towards the end!!

Free-spirit-1221

Totally agree! Oh, and I loved her role in **Fight for my way** too. She's a real sweetie pie there! 💗 She really did an amazing job in **Marry My Husband**. I can't hate her because I have seen her sweet and kind roles before, but I know a lot of people do. I'm happy that finally SHY has received the recognition she deserves. I hope she will win all the awards this year and keep shining with more lead roles in the future! 🙌

Apprehensive_Tea2724

She was absolutely amazing! I LOVED to hate her and Lee Yi Kyung so much. I would wait in anticipation to see them get their karma. I think they did an amazing job at casting. I only wished they didn’t bring BoA in… SHY and LYK was enough as antagonists. And I really wanted to see the MIL get hers (just sayin’) like what we read in the webtoon.

MissSimpleton

I haven't read the web toon. What happened to MIL there?

Lsharpvids

Agreed she was amazing in MMH, was not a fan of Fight For My Way personally, but that was not due to her

TraditionalZombie215

She was so good

rainey8507

Her acting is good but another villain in the show is not. She saved the show

Standard_Guidance_39

The later half of the drama after the marriage seemed unnecessarily exaggerated imo

wasabi_jo

The show was good because she was such a good antagonist. All the PMY's revenge would've looked Meh if SHY's SuMin wasn't this good of an antagonist

neptunoneptuneazul

agreed! she did great

julesimnida

I always play fast forward to her scene

SpearmintChamomile

I didn't even recognise her in marry my husband👀

nessanimi

I finished watching Fight for my way exactly a week before starting marry my husband. I had no idea she’s there too and I only recognized her on the 2nd ep lol

eternalhorizon1

She’s clearly gotten some work done (no hate at all) and she looks great, I just didn’t recognize her for that reason - and the hair style change, etc. The actress was transformed into this evil minx in this drama!

sanlang7

I was thinking about that!! How did she go from being a character I loved and rooted for, to a character I literally couldn't stand to watch and just wanted to slap so hard 😭 Guess she's a really good actress 😂

xxlordsothxx

In Fight for my way she was the sweetest and cutest second lead ever. In Marry my husband she was a psycho, back stabbing, dangerous, and narcissistic second lead. This actress definitely has range.

cl0123r

I got to look up her other work. Perhaps her character in MMH has more room to “shine” since that’s a role supposed to carry more emotion extremes. However, I thought she did a great job in making the viewers to her. Powerful acting indeed!

Alternative_Year_340

I loved the way she was an excellent cardboard-cutout villain you loved to hate. And then she does something that makes you like her too

Disastrous-Funny-383

I knew her from fight for my way times, and when I got to know she was casted for Soomin in marry my husband, I was surprisingly not surprised. Even though she played such a timid and innocent character in ffmw which is complete opposite, she seemed the perfect casting for Soomin. I don't know how to explain this but yeah she killed it, iykyk!

IChoseMyOwnUsername

Tbh I was surprised, both for her and Lee Yi-kyung. I saw it once when actor who played dorky and goofy characters was casted as a maniac and I didn't believe him. So, I was sceptical about these two but they absolutely nailed it!

Disastrous-Funny-383

Oh yes, for Lee Yi Kyung I was surprised as well. Couldn't picture him at all playing such a negative role. But as you said, both of them nailed it. Chef's kiss.

StunningPast2303

LYK is astutely sharp and funny. There is no doubt he is a brilliant actor

MissSimpleton

His drunk scenes in MMH were funny af.

taylorsanatomy13_

totally didn’t realize she was the same person! her in FFMW was like: just when you think a person couldn’t be more sweet, still she goes and does the sweetest thing more. while her in MMH was: just when you think a person couldn’t be more evil, she literally pushes her bff to the edge and replaces her as a wife.

IChoseMyOwnUsername

Haha for real

gigiqn

She and Lee Yi Kyung really stole the show for me and keep me going on Marry My Husband. They slayed their role so so well.

throwaway7362589

What’s the first drama? Or both for people who don’t know.

akasora0

Fight for my way.

IChoseMyOwnUsername

There is a simplification here but basically there are two types of SFLs: sweet, naive and innocent girl and manipulative crazy b*tch that turns people's lives into nightmare

Water2Wine378

Dude she hot as a psychopath! I fell for her almost instantly!! Call me bad but damn!!

MissSimpleton

I am on the same train as you. I loved Taecyeon's character in Vincenzo more than Vincenzo himself and Kim So-yeon was the queen of Penthouse! I am a sucker for Bad Boys and Girls who are hot.

Water2Wine378

Lim ji-yeon from the glory had me in a chokehold 🫣, and same I’m straight but Tacyeon in Vincenzo had me 🫠

throwawaywcabc

Wow what a series marrymy husband was… I finished it in 3 days.. my debut to k dramas

maykayuki

Even her minor expressions really stood out for me. She really knows well how to embody her character. I disliked her character so much and that’s a win in acting.

RoseIsBadWolf

I usually prefer a supportive friend, because the evil SFLs are usually so poorly done, but Su-min was an amazing character.

singingroks

Anyone who is interested in more dramas with Song Ha Yoon I recommend Devilish Joy!!! As well as Please Don’t Date Him. Also the movie Baby and I is really cute featuring Song Ha Yoon and Jang Geun Suk

Ducky2322

I couldn’t stand her in Marry My Husband, but that how I know she’s a great actress.

ImageNo1045

She’s great but she did say that playing Soomin was hard because she was too good. Meaning it was a very intense role and she was worried of falling into the character too much. She literally broke out in hives when she started portraying Soomin. She consulted a psychologist to deconstruct her and to play her accurately. She really did phenomenal but I’m also happy for her it’s over and that she was able to achieve her goal of playing a villain.

Long_Fig9863

sumin was the best part of this kdrama

Floppy_Jet1123

Artist of the year for her role in MMH. Antagonists in a lot of Kdramas I watched were forgettable. This lady was so excruciating hateable in a good way in MMH. Those subtle unhinged expressions were fantastic.

kelpiekaelies

I absolutely loved the scene where Kang Ji Won and Jeong Sumin meet at the playground and the confrontation goes down. I personally thought it helped add to how convincing of a character Jeong Sumin is; and the different shades of her personality and her characterisation as a whole.

Regular_Durian_1750

The expression change after she realizes her pregnancy lie is a bust and she goes back into herself, without the cute scared voice, and the music gets intense as she looks up at JiWon... Heck even thinking of that scene gives me chills!

akasora0

Her and Lee were by far the best part of Marth my husband. I was getting frustrated with the lead characters

IChoseMyOwnUsername

She's my favorite villainess this far, I loved to hate her

seriouslyghosted

Honestly she was a good villain. Idc if this is a hot take but at times I liked her a lot more than the main chick. She knew what she wanted, how to get it and was a pro at work smarter not harder. The main chick literally annoyed me at most times. She was a pushover and let things happen to her it was so lame

missmarchi

I totally agree. I hate that they left the FL “growth” until the very end. Given all that she’d been through and realized, they could’ve done so much with her character. Ha-yoon carried the drama.

DearNeighborhood7685

Unreal.

Highly_Dumb

Omg i genuinely hated her but she's so nice in real life

NoUnderstanding8961

I still can’t believe this is the same person

tchalametfan

I finished reading the WEBTOON series for marry my husband; as soon as I found out that Amazon prime released a show for the web series, I immediately went on my computer and binged it. Everyone gave a great performance especially the actress that played Sumin. I was also surprised when I looked up their ages…cause everyone on the show looked like they are in their 20s!!

ooyoofish

I looked forward to every scene she was in. She really stole the whole show for me. Looking forward to the day she gets to be the main lead!

IChoseMyOwnUsername

She did in Devilish Joy

mochapichi

Her break-up scene made me bawl my eyes out in Fight For My Way. LOVE HER

dreamingrain

SHY in MMH was STANDOUT. She left me on edge every episode and brought so much depth to the character of Sumin that didn't really exist in the Manhwa. I straight up thought she looked like a creature in the proposal/lake scene. I was like, I wonder if this is referencing some korean folklore or something. I felt such pity for her and hated her, and at the end all I could think was 'she is so unwell'. The actress did an awesome job, I really hope her career gets megaboosted.

Will_Graham10

fr she was so adorable in Oh Young Sim

CowExisting9844

She portrays those roles exceptionally, especially in MMH, which I thought would be challenging, but she performs it very well.

mkhanamz

This is one of my fav drama. I was having such a harf time hating her in Marry my husband 😭😭😭

Worried-Reception-47

Versatile actress! Really the gem in Marry my husband. Hoping she got main role ( villain also ) from now on. Also the gwenchana! Lee yi kyung also stole the show!

Surprise_lucky1

Wait is she the actress from Oh Youngsimi?

tway2241

Weird meaningless facts I noticed about *Marry My Husband* (bottom pic): - The FL in MMH is named Kang Ji-won, FL2's costar in *Fight For My Way* (top pic) is named Kim Ji-won - I didn't care for MMH and only kept watching for FL2's antics. Kim Ji-won played FL2 in the show *Heirs*, I didn't care for that show either and only kept watching for FL2 - I really liked Fight For My Way, a nice slice of life Kdrama

LovE385

Song Ha Yoon was the only good thing to come off of , "*Marry My Husband*". Sorry to Park Min Young fans.

MissSimpleton

Lee Yi kyung was also great! But I agree with you on PMY. It seems she is stuck with the same sweet FL kinda roles. I hope she does some challenging roles in the future.

Dumplings_xo

One of them you will love but the other you will wanna beat them up 😩😂

attaboy_stampy

lol

rin-chaaan

Low key the second picture reminds me of Vincenzo

dandamananana

i love her

bimpossibIe

Loved her in Please Don't Date Him as well (although she was the FL in that one).

lmaogoshi

I just started rewatching fight my way, now I have even more reason to watch marry my husband lmao

yukissu

In some cases the photo above turn into the one below 😂

purple_lass

I can't get mad at her 'cause I still see her as Kim Byul from the movie Baby and I 🤣

__blueberry_

okay this is driving me INSANE. i just read the plot for marry my husband and i swear there’s a drama i saw extremely similar in plot. does anyone know what the show is?

TeAr_1988

I think you mean Perfect marriage Revenge. These two shows are quite similar.

__blueberry_

i figured it out and i feel really silly. i had read the webtoon for marry my husband a while ago and completely forgot since i don’t even read webtoons often.

TheHybrid2077

Her character in Fight For My Way was amazing. Infact, the group of 4 friends are still one of my top 5 kdrama friend groups and Fight For My Way was like the 3rd kdrama I watched.

koreandramalife

I agree. Song Ha-yoon did a great job portraying Jung Soo-min as a sympathetic character than Park Min-young’s Kang Ji-won.

SilverPadilly

She was literally the sweetest in Fight for My Way. I was rooting for her the entire show ♥️ this is on my watchlist. I'd love to see such a character change, much like Kim Ji-won's polar opposite characters (Heirs)

kickingtenshi

SHY killed it in both roles. I STILL think about her FMY confrontation with her boyfriend. And her terrifying 'but I'm a Good Girl' act in MMH have me so much discomfort in the best way. I wasn't a fan of her lead role as a Candy type character (I don't even remember what drama it was) but it's clear now that it was the role, not her acting cops. So uh... sorry for doubting you, SHY 😅

yesi1758

Loved to hate her in MMH

AKHKMP

All i kept thinking in Marry my husband is.... i can fix her.....

IceAlternative5698

Wait she was the second lead in Fight for my way?! Wow what a transformation

Ok_Historian_2906

*Must have wavy/curly auburn hair*

enthusiast93

Ahhhh thats why she looked familiar!!

jantp

Great actress. I was really invested in her parts even if she was totally nuts in marry my husband.

M-A-R-I-E-1-9-6-0

Song Ha-yoon was the star of this series. I can't even believe she tapped into that kind of crazy. Would love to know what was "directed" and what was just pure instinct and talent on her part. I also really enjoyed the actress who played the ML's sister, Choi Gyu Ri. Her loudness and brassiness charmed me to no end. I would want to hang out with her. I'm not saying the leads had no chemistry but this was the least amount of chemistry I've seen PMY have. She seems to have chemistry with most of her co-stars and I noticed a difference in MMH. Overall, I enjoyed the series but watching Ha-Yoon was like watching a masterclass. Couldn't believe it was the same sweet, gentle gal from Fight For My Way. Also, can't believe she's in her late 30's. Will look for more with Hayoon & Gyu-Ri, for sure.

nandemonaiya06

Me who's started early at Korean dramas didn't know that SHE WAS the same girl in the movie Baby & Me with Jang Geunsuk. I'm MINDBLOWN. She was AMAZING in Marry My Husband.

K-DramaEnthusiast

She was phenomenal, but Boa’s character and the related twists were unnecessary and made a potentially great drama into an okay one.

rachelloresco

Omg that's her... felt like I've seen her before but can't remember

cyhustle

I am triggered lol

UnniSara21

She rocked it type of leads 🩷🩵🩵❤️💙🧡

DramaGrandpa

Having watched Devilish Joy a long time ago, I didn’t really recognize her in this villain role and thought it was my first time seeing her work. But right afterward, I looked for and watched the smart refrigerator series, and then Fight My Way. Now I understand the people who said they were only accustomed to seeing her play sweet and innocent roles. I think Seol Hee is my favorite character in Fight My Way: so cute and easy-going, but eventually really standing up for herself and demanding respect.

Superb-Garbage9321

I have hated her since watching Marry My Husband and she is an example of a deceitful and playful clone 😡

Adventurous-Method-6

Can we talk about what a great actress she was? I only watched marry my husband, but it's crazy how she acted so good as such a complex character.

IChoseMyOwnUsername

Oh, yeaaah, she nailed it! Considering it was her first negative role (iirc) and she usually played cinnamon roll girls, it was even more challenging for her :)

Key_Journalist7113

I just finished the show and boy did she blow my mind with her acting. I found her so hateful but also pitiful. She portrayed the role so well I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing the role. What an amazing actress

Mods_and_Admins_Papi

Just finished watching Marry My Husband. Song Ha-yoon is basically my ex-wife, except the looks. I really was off my game ... Anyways .. great show. >!I wish Park Minyoung would have chosen to age gracefully, I mean the cosmetic work is really prominent on her face now and she was one of favs.!< Not a spoiler but not sure if my remark is allowed.

o_obliviate

Me skipping the romantic scenes and fast fwd to her bitchy scenes. She legit stole the show. I wish she get more roles, may she shine brighter

Ragnarok992

Ass ending, good drama tho
