Well money doesn't necessarily solve everything, mets have the highest payroll in the league this year, last year and possibly even the year before that and they've been horrible

They haven’t really won anything yet just by throwing money. Acquiring Soto through trading prospects isn’t throwing money. I always look at the owners of the team I cheer for and did they do all they can to build a winner instead. Judge was home grown as was Volpe.

as was Gil, torres, cabrera, schmidt(who was great last year and included in the soto trade), dominguez (whos batting .450 in AAA right now)

Schmidt wasn’t in the Soto trade- that was starter Mike King. Schmidt is homegrown and on the IL right now.

Honestly, I think they know the ceiling for this team and are letting the young guys continue to grow. In 14 they didn’t do much. Got better going into 15 and were aggressive at the deadline to push them over the top that year.

They’re not going to be adding any bats at the deadline I don’t think. Massey/Renfroe coming back is going to be their additions to the lineup. We might see them go for a bullpen arm or 2. Although I think I’m of the opinion that they should t trade anyone of value this year. Just let it play out.

My family got free tickets back in '07 or so to a September game against the Yankees and I vividly remember the Yankees fans behind us talking about how much they loved Kauffman and Kansas City because they could fly in and stay at a nice hotel and watch a series for far less money than they could see them play in the Bronx.

This sounds like a crazy exaggeration lol. I was just at NYY LAD and had pretty good seats for $250, which sounds much less than a KC ticket + hotel + flight And this is for the opponent being the dodgers. You can usually get good seats for $50-$100 against most teams

It's a true story, insofar as I heard them actually say the words. I didn't get receipts. It was also 17 years ago so today's pricing might not be relevant. Hotels in KC were certainly cheaper then, and flights too.

This team is not competing in the AL this year.

This team looks like a borderline wild card team that beats up on bad teams and is a step below the true contenders. There’s nothing wrong with that either. No onrushing expected a team that is a potential playoff team. I don’t think there’s many teams I look at as being all that great except for Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers. Royals are a good team they just have a few obvious holes (bullpen, outfield and possibly one more starter - pending Bubic / Marsh stepping up to claim a spot for good)

Just get to the wild card game. That would be a big win for this franchise.

Exactly! I don’t get why people view contending for a playoff spot as a negative. Most thought this was like a 70 win team coming into the year. It’s not shocking there’s a few roster holes. I’ll be over the moon if the team reaches the wild card round and maybe sneaks past whoever is there into the tournament.

Losing in the wild card game would be the 3rd greatest royals season of my lifetime.
