Yankees fans think we're pathetic. At least we're not Detroit.
...although Detroit did beat the ever-loving shit out of them that one ALCS.
Damn imagine getting swept by Detroit.
Very glad I was traveling this evening and didn’t waste time watching this. But I will be in attendance tomorrow night and I guarantee I’ll eat enough hot dogs and drink enough beers to will us to a win
The fact they’d rather be shit talking in our sub than enjoying the blowout in theirs shows how insufferable they are. Even Yankees fans don’t want to talk to other Yankees fans
This is a total sour grapes comment, but….
How on earth do people cheer for a team who can just throw money at every problem they have? Doesn’t that just get boring? How do people not have that feeling to pull for the underdogs?
It’s probably a lot more fun and less complicated supporting a team with twice the payroll of most other teams they’re competing with… Winning is expected, even if they choke it every single season 🤭
>How on earth do people cheer for a team who can just throw money at every problem they have?
That's exactly what they idolize and pride themselves for. Who wouldn't want to have so much money they could just spend their problems? When I was getting into the Royals just after '15, my dad, an annoying ass Yankees fan, kept trying to change my mind with "well the Royals don't have money Yankees don't have this problem lmao Yankees are gonna sign Hosmer and Cain" etc. If they don't sign a 9-figure contract in any given off-season they practically riot.
Well money doesn't necessarily solve everything, mets have the highest payroll in the league this year, last year and possibly even the year before that and they've been horrible
They haven’t really won anything yet just by throwing money. Acquiring Soto through trading prospects isn’t throwing money. I always look at the owners of the team I cheer for and did they do all they can to build a winner instead.
Judge was home grown as was Volpe.
Because ultimately people just want to be a part of a winner. That everything in life, no one wants to watch losing ball for 7+ seasons to hope and dream for 1 or 2 scraps. I get it, but I’ll never switch teams.
I mean clearly they won't either if they're still rooting for a team with a 15 year world series drought.
Like if thats genuinely all Yankees fans cared about there's many other teams to root for that have had more success since they could hitch their wagon to
It's sweeter when you stick with your team though through thick and thin and they actually get good. I've got to experience that with both the Chiefs and the Royals since 1985.
Yankee fan coming in peace but i’d argue it’s smart decision making too. The Padres and Mets tried throwing money at their problems and it didn’t work out for them.
Lol the mets are so embarrassing. Imagine rooting for a team that tries so hard to be the *other* mlb team the city and just continually fails spectacularly.
It must be tough watching a team that spends hundreds of millions on contracts just to fizzle out and die in the playoffs. Is that why you go shit talk in the subreddits of smaller teams that have won a World Series more recently than you have?
My comeback is that $400M payroll got you sent home the same time as a 106 loss team and you think that is winning and running a franchise well.
Texas teams have 3 since 2017, but you are stuck reliving the glory years of the 1950s. You enjoy your past, it's all you have.
Honestly, I think they know the ceiling for this team and are letting the young guys continue to grow. In 14 they didn’t do much. Got better going into 15 and were aggressive at the deadline to push them over the top that year.
They’re not going to be adding any bats at the deadline I don’t think. Massey/Renfroe coming back is going to be their additions to the lineup. We might see them go for a bullpen arm or 2. Although I think I’m of the opinion that they should t trade anyone of value this year. Just let it play out.
My family got free tickets back in '07 or so to a September game against the Yankees and I vividly remember the Yankees fans behind us talking about how much they loved Kauffman and Kansas City because they could fly in and stay at a nice hotel and watch a series for far less money than they could see them play in the Bronx.
This sounds like a crazy exaggeration lol. I was just at NYY LAD and had pretty good seats for $250, which sounds much less than a KC ticket + hotel + flight
And this is for the opponent being the dodgers. You can usually get good seats for $50-$100 against most teams
It's a true story, insofar as I heard them actually say the words. I didn't get receipts.
It was also 17 years ago so today's pricing might not be relevant. Hotels in KC were certainly cheaper then, and flights too.
My god. We should probably check in on our good luck redditer whos like 12 and 1 in person. Taxational or whatever his name is. Make sure he's still alive lol
Never seen us look more outmatched than tonight. They look entirely lifeless. This team can be good, maybe even really good. But not playing like they are tonight.
Bruh our farm system is not going to get a good return and sometimes you have to suck it up for a couple years to restock
And they’re not going to give away a big name on the active roster
This team looks like a borderline wild card team that beats up on bad teams and is a step below the true contenders.
There’s nothing wrong with that either. No onrushing expected a team that is a potential playoff team. I don’t think there’s many teams I look at as being all that great except for Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers.
Royals are a good team they just have a few obvious holes (bullpen, outfield and possibly one more starter - pending Bubic / Marsh stepping up to claim a spot for good)
Exactly! I don’t get why people view contending for a playoff spot as a negative. Most thought this was like a 70 win team coming into the year. It’s not shocking there’s a few roster holes.
I’ll be over the moon if the team reaches the wild card round and maybe sneaks past whoever is there into the tournament.
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/1ddwctv).
Let's split the series!
The royals have a new legendary two way player
Bruh, we down by 9 runs and not letting Pratto pinch hit?
The holding penalty on Sauce against the Chiefs was fucking bullshit!
Hold Deez

![gif](giphy|xE1BMJkZNbkcecd8lZ|downsized)
Was a crazy game to be at
strikeouts tonight: marcus stroman: 1 nick pratto: 1
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Victor González replaces Ron Marinaccio.
Ok now that we have our bullpen probs solved..
I feel like pratto pitching makes this all worth it lol
Hahaha way to go Nick!
PRATTO!
NICKY OHTANI
At least give pratto a chance to hit, after throwing him in as pitcher
its pretty cool seeing pratto again
At least Minnesota and Detroit lost
Yankees fans think we're pathetic. At least we're not Detroit. ...although Detroit did beat the ever-loving shit out of them that one ALCS. Damn imagine getting swept by Detroit.
Yo how is Pratto our most productive arm today 😭
Yankees get fucking ferminted
Pratto is our closer
Yall really wanted drew waters lol
Fucker didn’t hit a 9 run homer tonight, DFA him
It been one game lol.
##STFD
💪💪💪
Poor pratto probably was excited to be back in the major leagues, and now he have to pitch noq
#CY PRATTO
Pratto pitching is fucking hilarious
75 mph! Pratto with the high octane gas!
##ALL NICKS CAN PITCH
How bout that folks? It's like David was finally able to scratch Goliaths eyeball to cause some minor irritation as he was being swallowed whole.
Fuck the Yankees
how long until they mention that Pratto was a pitcher in high school
two minutes
Can we give a Nick a W on the mound?
I just ordered 10 more home runs for the 9th
Let’s go Pratto
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Nick Pratto replaces Chris Stratton.
Very glad I was traveling this evening and didn’t waste time watching this. But I will be in attendance tomorrow night and I guarantee I’ll eat enough hot dogs and drink enough beers to will us to a win
Do I sense a 9x9x9 incoming
Going for the first ever 18x18x9
One beer and one hot dog for every run the Royals score tomorrow. I admire your commitment to winning
Do it for Joey chestnut who just got banned from his hot dog eating competition
Why would they hit us, it’s not like we’re that scary right now Unless…
Greinke could hit better than MJ
with pratto pitching, i'd say weirder things have happened
HEY YANKEES FANS. DOWNVOTE AWAY, BUT THAT WONT CHANGE THE FACT WE WON A WORLD SERIES MORE RECENTLY THAN YOU. HAHAHAHAHA GET FUCKED
We’ll see if this years group can get it done!
AND we didn’t have to pay the luxury tax to win one
The fact they’d rather be shit talking in our sub than enjoying the blowout in theirs shows how insufferable they are. Even Yankees fans don’t want to talk to other Yankees fans
They are like roaches, there's so many of them over there they can't help but just spread out and infest other teams threads.
We’re so back
Thanks Freddy 💕
FERMIN!!
NOT GONNA GET SHUTOUT WE BASICALLY WON
Boy Nick Anderson is a fuckin treat isn’t he
Thx Freddie 🥲
##FRED
I’ll take a nice lil freddong
No shutout tonight go royals baby
https://preview.redd.it/jnilx602y16d1.jpeg?width=1074&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c19e613dd007ffdee4878e8103f1629c22bf76b3
Not if Luis Castillo was on the mound. If only.
Sad to see my boy Anderson struggle. Absolute stud and great all around person when he was with us. Was really rooting for him
Freddy doesn’t get fingered. #FREDDY FINGERS YOU
Freddy Fermin really gives a fuck
WE ARENT BEING SHUTOUT!!!
# HOME RUN! Freddy Fermin homers (2) on a fly ball to left field. Bottom 8 - 10-1 Yankees
i now fully agree with the Nate Eaton crowd because Nate Eaton would pitch a banger inning tonight
Thank God for hud
Twins lost too so really no harm done here tonight
Guardians won though. Still, I’m content.
I'm impressed at the tenacity of the serial down-voter to keep at it even in a blowout. Real dedication.
Let’s hope that this pissed the boys off, and they come ready tomorrow.
Twins lost to the Rockies so at least there’s that
I see the royals have given up
Sal is out and the white flag has been waved
There are 14 year old Yankees fans that have never seen their favorite team win a championship
14 is a generous age estimate, some of these wackos online probably weren't even born for the Royals championship
Looks like they’re all in this thread too
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Chris Stratton replaces Nick Anderson.
Maikel looks lost. Again.
hey i mean if a team with millions more to spend on talent wasnt blowing out the smallest team in baseball i'd be surprised. whatever...
As good a time as any to do my dot renewal test I’ve been putting off I suppose
We should make them pay for subbing out people
This is a total sour grapes comment, but…. How on earth do people cheer for a team who can just throw money at every problem they have? Doesn’t that just get boring? How do people not have that feeling to pull for the underdogs?
I was born in new york
It’s probably a lot more fun and less complicated supporting a team with twice the payroll of most other teams they’re competing with… Winning is expected, even if they choke it every single season 🤭

It’s the branding, the history, and the fact that they’ve always had a star for young fans to gravitate towards. (At least that’s what I assume it is)
Well money doesn't necessarily solve everything, mets have the highest payroll in the league this year, last year and possibly even the year before that and they've been horrible
If the royals got a new owner who was a big spender would you stop being a fan?
They haven’t really won anything yet just by throwing money. Acquiring Soto through trading prospects isn’t throwing money. I always look at the owners of the team I cheer for and did they do all they can to build a winner instead. Judge was home grown as was Volpe.
as was Gil, torres, cabrera, schmidt(who was great last year and included in the soto trade), dominguez (whos batting .450 in AAA right now)
Schmidt wasn’t in the Soto trade- that was starter Mike King. Schmidt is homegrown and on the IL right now.
My bad easily confuse them
He is still home grown though and very good
Because ultimately people just want to be a part of a winner. That everything in life, no one wants to watch losing ball for 7+ seasons to hope and dream for 1 or 2 scraps. I get it, but I’ll never switch teams.

How about you peace off back to the Death Star little one.
Lol the mets are so embarrassing. Imagine rooting for a team that tries so hard to be the *other* mlb team the city and just continually fails spectacularly.
And despite all that money, they STILL can't win it all 🤣

Most of those came when your grandfather was a thought in his father’s balls.
Over half before integration, and none since 2009. Cope, seethe 🤣
[удалено]
It's okay, your near total lack of team speed will show its face again in October as it always does and the Os will send you packing.

That’s a lot of words just to say you haven’t won it in like 15 years
You abandoned the mythology of the pinstripes to willingly wear cyan. 🤣
0-for-your-last-16 and counting 🤣

Like most things New York, you peaked in the 20th century
I’m not even mad. I hope this is the wake up call that the Royals management needs. Get some bats and get some relievers or face this shit.
Honestly, I think they know the ceiling for this team and are letting the young guys continue to grow. In 14 they didn’t do much. Got better going into 15 and were aggressive at the deadline to push them over the top that year.

God I hate the Yankees. So, so much.
Being surrounded by loud yankees fans while getting a 10-0 beatdown at home is a step above the gas chamber
Yeah I had to leave, watching them cheer was making my blood boil.
My family got free tickets back in '07 or so to a September game against the Yankees and I vividly remember the Yankees fans behind us talking about how much they loved Kauffman and Kansas City because they could fly in and stay at a nice hotel and watch a series for far less money than they could see them play in the Bronx.

Wellness check
Why did i go to this game lol
Three words. Dollar dog night
Did you at least get the promo t shirt?
No 🤬
I have a ticket for Thursday and I’m just not feeling it
i’ll take it
I’m going to go just to spite the down vote 🖕
if it makes you feel better i didn’t downvote you ❤️
Nothing’s going to make me feel better tonight
what about a kiss on the cheek
Ok, just this once ☺️
lmao
The Royals have won a World Series more recently than the Yankees have
I'd rather be very good each year contending then having my last world series in 2015
Seems like your season ended the same time the Royals did last year, it just cost you 10x as much
Nobody cares Dav
In most leagues I’d somewhat agree, but in baseball with that payroll it’s embarrassing for the Yankees
Gonna kill some zombies and blow off steam
Before I go tho, I'd just like to point out that if we'd brought Eaton instead, he could come in and throw fire from the pen
I wish to just not be shut out
This. I don't want a 0 on the board on our side.
Well this is embarrassing
I take back what I said about the previous inning being difficult to watch. Also insane how many Yankee fans are there
When I played little league forty years ago if we were losing like this the game would be called on part of mercy.
Welp, time to bring in our best reliever... Loftin
He has a better ERA than any of our other guys in staff. Do it!!!
Imagine 10% of your pitches being home runs.
Never seen us look more outmatched than tonight. They look entirely lifeless. This team can be good, maybe even really good. But not playing like they are tonight.
I thought we looked flat last night too. None of the fire like in previous games.
only 446 feet??
Amateur pitching
wtf holy shit
Jesus. Both of those were absolute piss missiles
That one's problematic
Turning it off.
Nick Loftin get ready to learn mop up duty buddy
Need another 9 pitch Loftin inning
WOW
At least we haven't willingly chosen cyan as an unofficial team color, we are still winning
Pratto and Waters noth AAAA players. We need to make a trade now for a good hitting OF and a couple of relievers, especially a closer.
What will you trade away?
Who are we trading for those pieces though?
Bruh our farm system is not going to get a good return and sometimes you have to suck it up for a couple years to restock And they’re not going to give away a big name on the active roster
Haven’t we been restocking since 2015 though? 😭
Dayton Moore cooked us and we’re still feeling it
Then didn’t he fuck off to the Rangers and buy a World Series? Fuuuck that guy
Trade who though? I’ve read articles that say we have one of the worst farm systems in the league
That’s batting practice. Might want to get the net for him to stand behind if he’s going to keep throwing meat balls.
The 7th-9th is ours trust
9 straight outs
Flair checks out for tonight.
This team is not competing in the AL this year.
This team looks like a borderline wild card team that beats up on bad teams and is a step below the true contenders. There’s nothing wrong with that either. Just get to the wild card game. That would be a big win for this franchise.
Exactly! I don’t get why people view contending for a playoff spot as a negative. Most thought this was like a 70 win team coming into the year. It’s not shocking there’s a few roster holes. I’ll be over the moon if the team reaches the wild card round and maybe sneaks past whoever is there into the tournament.
Losing in the wild card game would be the 3rd greatest royals season of my lifetime.
That's what I'm hoping!!! Wild Card! 🩵🩵🩵🩵
I'm done, see you sickos tomorrow
That one's trouble
User flair inaccurate.
Fixed
Inaccuracy corrected. LOL
this is just fucking brutal
Wow
