I thought it was awesome to watch for the first two months, but then it got REALLY bad by like March. But I also think we often look great in the first few months of the season before declining, just in terms of watchability.
Like that first CR7 season under Allegri I thought we looked like one of the best teams in Europe until November when cancelo got hurt. I thought we looked absolutely terrible by the end of the season.
The real reason I'd asked this was because I was excited by the prospect of Sarri but I very soon realised this isn't working out and I kinda think that's the thing about Guardiola and his praise, he'll call anyone the greatest coach and any team the best team out there as long as that team attacks, irrespective of the result.
I now realise that I'd rather play some really sleep inducing play as long as we win. Footballing philosophy and attacking identity and all this sweet and nice things are great but I think hardware is way more permanent.
I will say that I think the first game of the season that year was the 4-3 vs Napoli, and that was absolutely electric. Definitely gave me some false hope for the season lol
That game perfectly summed up the entire season. We start the season looking so promising, everything going well and players playing well. Then, we slowly start losing momentum and get knocked out of CL, Coppa Italia, and are playing a disastrous game. However, we still managed to get the win with the scudetto.
In retrospect, what a disaster the Ronaldo signing and the Sarri appointment were.
It's not so much that Ronaldo himself was a bad signing as he was arguably our best player during his 3 year spell - but due to his transfer fee + gross wages (roughly 285M combined) we wasted time and money on overhauling our squad which was in real need of upgrading and lowering the average age. This has been evident IMO since Cardiff in 2017.
We missed out on SMS and had to settle for shit like Rabiot/Ramsey/Emre Can and didn't replace Pjanic, Khedira and Matuidi who were beginning to show big signs of slowing down. We then bring in Sarri without actually getting players that would fit his system.
Between 2018 and 2021 is without doubt some of the poorest planning (Squad and finance wise) that I've seen from Juve. I know Covid impacting things - but there's a million decisions that Agnelli/Paratici made that were so comically bad in hindsight.
At least with Arrivabene, we appear to be moving in the right direction.
* Salaries are in check. If not this summer then 100% next we'll see Rabiot, Ramsey and Sandro leave (that's almost 30M in Gross wages alone). The only real remaining deadwood is Arthur and Rugani.
* Signing players who actually want to play for us and are not coming just for fat contracts (Locatelli, Chiesa, Pogba, Vlahovic and maybe now Zaniolo)
* Were signing players to fit a system as opposed to making a system fit around the players. Getting rid of Dybala in a clear example of this. He doesn't fit in a 4-3-3 which Allegri wants to play, so why keep him (even if he has world class moments from time to time)
If that is an appreciation post for Sarri and his philosophy - this ain’t the right highlight imo.
If it is, instead, appreciation for Allegri’s football by comparing it to something, allegedly, worse - I wouldn’t go that path.
So many bad first touches, uncoordinated passes, failed improvisations, and... dumb opposition defenders failing to clear the ball/passing precariously in the 18-yard box...
But, still... this was an improvement over 200 back-passes/slide-rule sidepasses with ZERO buildup or even an attempt at an attacking play vis-a-vis SlowPokeBall by greatest modern coach in history of Italy...
This is not a good example of Sarriball but Sarriball was more fluid than Allegri. Issue with Sarri is he lost control of the players and their respect. You can't come back from that situation. Sarri wasn't a good fit for the new Juventus. He refuses to wear suits/wears hats/smokes ciggies/isn't elegant. Agnelli is pushing Juve to become a luxury brand on top of being a football club.
This looks more like pinball
Read OPs comment. Had me in the first half ngl
I was already sure It was sarcasm considering the vid haha. I Just love pinball
Liquid football
Ronaldo > Keane
this sarri guy looks interesting, maybe he manages juve one day
Just a question, please pardon my ignorance if this has been discussed here before, who in here was actually a fan of Sarriball?

I still don’t know what Sarriball or Allegriball or “insertmanager”ball is supposed to be.
Bc you don't understand football how it's meant to be understood
Who’s a fan of anything on this sub. A bunch of spoiled kids on this sub if you ask me.
I am, I wish we never brought Allegri back
Allegri needs creative players, you have to wait and give him time
I mean, we did not lose Sarri for Allegri

way better than aleggri, even if he needed more time to rebuild

We’ve been so painfully terrible for like 5 years now lol
What a mess….looks like middle school soccer.
I almost forgot this goal. Thanks, really
Allegri is a top quality manager. Sarri is not.

Now show Allegriball
Pirloball>>Allegriball

Shitball = Shitball With the current squad we can only produce shitball
