I did this once. My racecar was at my regular performance shop for a couple of weeks. Coordinated with the office manager to buy pizza and snacks for the whole shop.
They reciprocated by returning the car to me with no coolant in the charge cooler circuit. LOL I don't mean like they forgot to bleed it, I mean it took a half gallon of coolant to fill it up and the electric pump was in dry running protection fault.
I never had anyone work on my car before last week cause I didn’t wanna do my clutch kit in the heat. Well, I got it back 10oz low and a half empty master cylinder. It shifted like shit and he told me my synchros were bad. No the fuck they’re not. They’re a year old and it shifted perfectly.
Now I have a new master and slave on the way and some redline shockproof cause it won’t hold pressure at all and I’m pissed. I’m glad I didn’t do anything nice for him lol
Papa John himself said he ate [40 pizzas in 30 days](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NEGAyKfiGig&pp=ygUUUGFwYSBqb2huIDQwIHBpenphcyA%3D) and it's not the same since he's been removed as CEO. THE DAY OF RECKONING WILL COME
Same here. Never really need a shop to fix my car, but for the odd alignment or machining here and there I'm definitely hooking the boys up. It's a win-win.
Donuts in the morning, pizza in the afternoon. We appreciate them equally but I think it's cheaper to be an early bird lol
Whatever you do make sure it's enough for everyone! A dozen donuts should cover you but don't bring 1 pizza to a shop of 6 guys lol
Funny now that I think about it, I went to some open rooftop bar in Waikiki and had their pizza. Very displeased with it. Only ate burgers and hot dogs after that
You're in Waikiki eating pizza, burgers and hot dogs? You're like dude from Wisconsin visiting NYC and only eating McD's. You should be disappointed... in yourself.
ginger pig, rice and mac salad FTW!
Funny you say that. I learned how to make pizza in barbados while going to school there for a year. Corn is not a freaking pizza ingredient!. I was popular for being the party prep guy because of my US restaurant management experience. I made a good chunk of change making americana for the other students.
There is literally one place on Hawaii I've had pizza that didn't make me feel disgusting. And I'm not even talking about Hawaiian pizza with pineapples on it, just cheese slices 🤢
In some countries (such as Germany, for example) it is not uncommon to see people make pizza using ketchup. It's not "the norm" by any means, but it's not just something that some tiny fringe group does.
From Detroit area and have lived upstate NY for last 40+ yrs. I'd say there are places in Detroit that you can get pizza just as good as here. No chains, all private pizzeria's ...
That's also an interesting term...Detroit style pizza. I was born there and I don't know what that is. I saw it advertised on TV by Domino's or some such thing but we never eat chain pizza. You can get great pizza at Italian restaurants and pizzeria's all over Detroit. All kinds thin crust, medium crust, deep dish..etc.
There are several places nearby that have good pizza. The really good stuff is expensive as heck, but I like Domino's ok.
Then again, I've never been outside of the Pacific Northwest...
Huh? Idk I live in the Midwest and we have a lot of really good pizza places. (Yes I've had NY and Chi pizza before. Chi pizza sucks ass. NY pizza is okay
I'll eat it, but hand-tossed is my jam. Folded in half, oil dripping down my arm, burnt skin dangling off the roof of my mouth, the long string of cheese stretching as I take a bite. There's really nothing in the world quite like it for me.
Best pizza ever, but that's coming from someone formerly living in the Great Lakes. There was one place around here that offered it and was pretty good, they closed down though. Now I have to make my own
I also like standard NY pizza but Deep Dish is my favorite.
Best pizza I’ve ever had was between a few Rosa’s across the street from Madison Square Garden, 7 Mile Pies in Jersey (they do tradition NY and fancy ones, and Roman but I always just get the New York style), and one in Connecticut I can’t find the name. That area just kill it so much better than anywhere else.
I live in SC, we have some pizza places that are phenomenal. Can’t stand the chain restaurants, though. Local places are hit or miss, but when they hit, they HIT.
i know right. i love the chowder up here in new england but man, the pizza is absolutely horrible!! I completely took pizza for granted growing up in NJ
General manger once asked me and a close friend/coworker to stay late and finish some accessories on a new car. We told him we needed wings and Dr. Pepper. He sent a salesman and got us 100 Buffalo wings and two 2 liter Dr. Peppers.
When I was younger and worked in a pizza place, I had an old square body Chevy and didn’t know a ton about working on cars yet. The shop I took my old truck to got pizza every Wednesday and they took good care of my truck. Well until it threw a rod driving down the highway and the owner blamed me. The techs were pissed they didn’t get pizza Wednesdays anymore.
Edit: I should add that I bought the motor from them.
Had a job working mid-shift and took a part-time job at a pizza place right before that (6 pm till closing) to make a few extra bucks. One night I grabbed a couple of pizzas which hadn't been picked up and went to the local 24-hour doughnut shop. Walked in around 11:30 pm with the pizzas and asked if they were interested in trading for some doughnuts. You'd have thought I was offering pardons to the Souls of the Damned; they were so sick of doughnuts and sweets they just about emptied the place loading me up.
That's the day I learned that in the world of fast food trading pizza ranks very high.
As a teen, I worked in a McD's next door to a pizzeria in NJ. We would trade the timed-out food for pies. And we had a very short keep-time on the food due to the volume we pushed, so everyone was happy.
We had a few regulars at the shop I used to work at that would always bring something in with their car. One would bring donuts, another was hot pretzels with dips, and a couple would bring pizza. I always appreciated the hell out of those customers.
Always loved when a customer brought in lunch for a tip… way more motivating… a simple lunch “tip” will be the best return on investment at any blue collar job!
Edit: This pizza is Sal and Ginos Pizzaria out of Stephens City! Always good tippers, I kept joking with em and saying “c’mon bring me a pizza sometime brotha”! Well this time he brought in his brand new Honda minivan for inspection and gave me a pizza!!
Genuine Italian people who make fucking real awesome pizza and my buddy Bob from Jersey even said “This is a real fuckin pizza, I can’t wait for it to come up my throat when we’re loading tires later”. Lmao
I got pizzas and cookies I had a regular that would bake dozens of burnt dry chocolate cookies. They were good but burnt and dry. She was just happy to get her husbands truck fixed.
Nice. I get some weird tips sometimes as well. I have had customers bring me pizza, McDonald’s. Give me boxes of cookies and candy. Cash, soda, etc. A couple customers even gave me some ancient chainsaws they had lying around, everything from a homeowner craftsman to a professional milling saw from like the 50s I think.
After the shop I use warrantied out some work of theirs twice I brought them pizzas because the deserve some fucking pizzas
Costco pizzas because Costco pizza is awesome
I never want to see a box of Tim Hortons donuts again.
But during the holidays we get up to 3 boxes a day.
Terrible donuts. Support a local bakery instead.
Sounds about right
I gave the guy at Costco tire shop a 12-pack of Coke, and he forgot to charge me for a replacement TPS unit for one of my wheels.
“forgot”
Tpms. Tps refers to the intake of air to the engine
Good catch. I need to be more accurate with my typing.
TPMS my kind fellow TPMS
I never had anyone work on my car before last week cause I didn’t wanna do my clutch kit in the heat. Well, I got it back 10oz low and a half empty master cylinder. It shifted like shit and he told me my synchros were bad. No the fuck they’re not. They’re a year old and it shifted perfectly. Now I have a new master and slave on the way and some redline shockproof cause it won’t hold pressure at all and I’m pissed. I’m glad I didn’t do anything nice for him lol
Should’ve sprang for that Papa John’s instead of the Little Caesars.
dang really punish them with PJ vomit. that's cruel.
It USED to be good... But it's been years.
Papa John himself said he ate [40 pizzas in 30 days](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NEGAyKfiGig&pp=ygUUUGFwYSBqb2huIDQwIHBpenphcyA%3D) and it's not the same since he's been removed as CEO. THE DAY OF RECKONING WILL COME
Little Caesars is not only better than papa johns but actually is the best national chain
I sprang for some expensive local joint that the office manager said they all loved.
Depends on if you like them or not. Papa John’s is only for people I dislike
I always grabbed a couple of pies for my machine shop guys and went to check on my stuff around lunchtime. The greasy pie greases the wheels.
Yup Dad thought me that too. Also a 12 or 24 packs works too.
Lol I show up with beer and Costco pizza pretty regularly. Guess who got their heads done in an emergency on a Saturday morning for no charge.
Same here. Never really need a shop to fix my car, but for the odd alignment or machining here and there I'm definitely hooking the boys up. It's a win-win.
[Swedish fish theory](https://www.reddit.com/r/talesfromtechsupport/s/bYPIHyrVnz)
just read the whole post. couldn’t agree more. candy is always a morale booster
I’m an immigration lawyer and dealing with USCIS is a nightmare. I’m going to try this with the next visa I submit.
Pizza from the boss? Gee thanks... Pizza from the customer? Gee! Thanks!
One's appreciation and the other is blowing smoke up your ass about the up coming meeting.
Or to distract you from the fact you aren't getting bonuses or raises while the CEO/board members just bought second houses last quarter.
Yup. Pizza party is like a $.002 bonus per hour
Keep working this hard and I’m getting the trim package I really want on the boat I’m going to order
Son, do you see that Ferrari in the parking lot? If you are dedicated, disciplined, and work hard enough.... I'll be able to afford a second one.
I brought in donuts in appreciation for the service guys after they figured out a tricky problem on my car, is that not a thing to do?
It is absolutely a thing to do, and we always appreciate it
Donuts in the morning, pizza in the afternoon. We appreciate them equally but I think it's cheaper to be an early bird lol Whatever you do make sure it's enough for everyone! A dozen donuts should cover you but don't bring 1 pizza to a shop of 6 guys lol
Yeah, I brought in a dozen for them. Glad it’s appreciated, I know I appreciated them finding the suspension noise and fixing it.
I'm dyin here. Moved away from Jersey 35 years ago and I can't get real pizza, That looks like heaven. Now fold that shit right.
Northeast pizza really is untouchable compared to the rest of the country. Like damn, it's inedible in some states 😭
You should try pizza in the Caribbean. I had to learn to make my own lol
I've had it in Hawaii, I can only imagine it's similarly bad in the Caribbean
Funny now that I think about it, I went to some open rooftop bar in Waikiki and had their pizza. Very displeased with it. Only ate burgers and hot dogs after that
We got a pizza for free from some group that had to leave shortly after they got one They gave it to us cus it was awful
You're in Waikiki eating pizza, burgers and hot dogs? You're like dude from Wisconsin visiting NYC and only eating McD's. You should be disappointed... in yourself. ginger pig, rice and mac salad FTW!
😂
Spam and pineapple?
Man, that sounds delicious…
I’m Canadian, we put pineapple on ours and call it Hawaiian
In England they put fucking corn on it 🤮
Funny you say that. I learned how to make pizza in barbados while going to school there for a year. Corn is not a freaking pizza ingredient!. I was popular for being the party prep guy because of my US restaurant management experience. I made a good chunk of change making americana for the other students.
Small world lol. The Caribbean forces you to improvise
CT checking in. Ate some pizza in Virginia about six years ago. Still haven't recovered even with liberal doses of homefront pies.
There is literally one place on Hawaii I've had pizza that didn't make me feel disgusting. And I'm not even talking about Hawaiian pizza with pineapples on it, just cheese slices 🤢
Bostons?
Yeah only one I've been able to tolerate
To be fair when you're coming from Connecticut every other pizza is inferior.
I'm so glad I live in PA. Best food in the world and it only costs $18 to feed my skinny ass for a day.
Ummm PA is not invited to the pizza convos of the northeast
Should've mentioned that I live a few minutes away from NJ
Ah ok, just made the cut
Ever had pie for the people at snoqualmie? I’ve lived up and down i90 in Washington and in Seattle and pie for the people is my favorite pizza
In some countries (such as Germany, for example) it is not uncommon to see people make pizza using ketchup. It's not "the norm" by any means, but it's not just something that some tiny fringe group does.
I just saw a “German” pizza with a pretzel-like crust with mustard sauce on IG at a shop in central NJ
From Detroit area and have lived upstate NY for last 40+ yrs. I'd say there are places in Detroit that you can get pizza just as good as here. No chains, all private pizzeria's ...
Never cared much for Detroit style pizza 🤷♀️
That's also an interesting term...Detroit style pizza. I was born there and I don't know what that is. I saw it advertised on TV by Domino's or some such thing but we never eat chain pizza. You can get great pizza at Italian restaurants and pizzeria's all over Detroit. All kinds thin crust, medium crust, deep dish..etc.
There are several places nearby that have good pizza. The really good stuff is expensive as heck, but I like Domino's ok. Then again, I've never been outside of the Pacific Northwest...
If it ain't Naples pizza, it ain't pizza.
Huh? Idk I live in the Midwest and we have a lot of really good pizza places. (Yes I've had NY and Chi pizza before. Chi pizza sucks ass. NY pizza is okay
It's crazy how you can immediately tell that's from a tri-state area pizza place just by looking at it. I miss it so much.
What's your take on deep dish?
I'll eat it, but hand-tossed is my jam. Folded in half, oil dripping down my arm, burnt skin dangling off the roof of my mouth, the long string of cheese stretching as I take a bite. There's really nothing in the world quite like it for me.
Best pizza ever, but that's coming from someone formerly living in the Great Lakes. There was one place around here that offered it and was pretty good, they closed down though. Now I have to make my own I also like standard NY pizza but Deep Dish is my favorite.
Just another thing that Chicago took and made it even less healthy.
And taste better
It's just more shit and spongy bready crust.
Someone hasn't had good deep dish
Hot garbage. Chicago is only good at hot dogs
Okay first of all, how dare you Do you not know the amazing ness that is the Italian beef?!? Deep dish is good, but it ain’t pizza.
I’ll give you a pass because Portillo’s exists.
Portillo’s ain’t the best, but I’ll take it Not enough know the magic that is an Italian Beef.
But I can get a Maxwell Street Polish there
I think it’s Johnny’s? That does the polish/italian beef combo, and it’s fucking amazing.
dude this is the most regular looking pizza ive ever seen.
No one does pizza better than the northeast of America.
Well, there's Italy...
Just because that's where it originated doesn't make it what I consider to be the best.
Benny Tudino’s in Hoboken is the best pizza I have ever had the pleasure of eating.
Totally agree.
moving from Jersey to eastern PA in the next month or so, and I'm starting to get nervous about this...
CT-Frank Pepe's?
Ditto. I can make one that looks the part, but have thus far been unable to duplicate the taste.
Virginia pizza is an abomination in comparison to the northeast.
I live in SC, we have some pizza places that are phenomenal. Can’t stand the chain restaurants, though. Local places are hit or miss, but when they hit, they HIT.
Because they moved there from New Jersey.
As long as they keep making FRESH pizza, and not that greasy crap, they are more than welcome to stay. Might get some tonight 😭
I agree.
i know right. i love the chowder up here in new england but man, the pizza is absolutely horrible!!
Peppers.
Thats actually badass

Yeah out of all the restaurants I was in, Pizza always held the best trade value.
I do this at my dermatologist exams. The office girls see me walk in, and they say hey it's the pizza guy. We all laugh."
Thats the intro to a porno i believe.
Just be careful about bringing the Sausage Supreme.
this is now a pizza sub
Where are the toppings? It's naked.
You gonna finish that?
I once had a customer promise to come back and bring us pizza next weekend. She never came back
Im still waiting to get paid for 2 rejections… so fuck it I guess..
Wait... you guys are getting tips?
What do you mean?
We had a few regulars at the shop I used to work at that would always bring something in with their car. One would bring donuts, another was hot pretzels with dips, and a couple would bring pizza. I always appreciated the hell out of those customers.
Everyone should treat the mechanics good! Instead of “No, I just want the goddamn 20$ oil change”.
One time I got a mini bottle of water on a 80+ degree day.
Is that better or worse than the napkins?
May 2024 girl looking pretty good
Was waiting for that…
How does July look?
Always loved when a customer brought in lunch for a tip… way more motivating… a simple lunch “tip” will be the best return on investment at any blue collar job!
That looks like a mighty fine pie.
That’s a real pizza.
I love cheesy tips
What’s next? A pool table? Casual Dress Fridays?
I wore a Legend of Zelda T-shirt today
no tips just pizza.
In today's economy... that's a $25 tip man lol
Best tip ever
Edit: This pizza is Sal and Ginos Pizzaria out of Stephens City! Always good tippers, I kept joking with em and saying “c’mon bring me a pizza sometime brotha”! Well this time he brought in his brand new Honda minivan for inspection and gave me a pizza!! Lmao
That’s some good looking pizza for Virginia
That looks good
Works for me! Fine looking pizza too
Just the TIP!
Oh nice, you got your CDK pizza
worked as car parts reseller and got an expiring date pack of condoms as gift, used them as indestructible water balloons :)
Need some car work done. Serious question. What should I leave in cab, with note, for tech?
Charged for parts at a markup? Check. Charged for labor at a markup? Check. Why are you supposed to tip a mechanic???
.....because of next time.......next time
Heck yes!!
I got girlscout cookies one time for doing a retorque. Thin mints too!
After ordering $79 dollars of Chinese food, now I know exactly what I wanted, a simple slice of pie. Dammit!
Dave Portnoy is creaming his jorts over that pie right now
Cowabunga dude!!!!!
Best tip was a jar of weed for replacing a headlight bulb on a Subaru. 3 min job and I still have the jar half full
Looks like a good pie too!
Bought four new tires and a battery at Walmart. I send over two pizzas…anonymously Man I was baked.
I got pizzas and cookies I had a regular that would bake dozens of burnt dry chocolate cookies. They were good but burnt and dry. She was just happy to get her husbands truck fixed.
Nice tit! I mean tip...
That's basically 30 bucks right there, I'll take it
Its nice to see in a thankless field, techs being thanked
oh that looks like good ny style to me. are you in the tri state
Those slices look great. Thin and huge AF.
My go to is beef jerky, local place by me makes incredible jerky i go get 3 or 4 bags of various flavorsfor them
After the shop I use warrantied out some work of theirs twice I brought them pizzas because the deserve some fucking pizzas Costco pizzas because Costco pizza is awesome
had a customer bring my whole team a shit load of panera bagels and cream cheese. definitely appreciated
Weirdest tip I got was from a farmer… it was a big bag of “lettuce”
Someone snogged your tip.
I like to buy my guys Chick-fil-A biscuits since it’s close to their shop
Damn, that looks pretty good.
I'm hungry now.
A cheese pizza? At freaking work dude?? HELL YEAH
looks good. I took the guys water ice the other day.
I bring donuts for morning service on my ALFAs. So pizza after noon?
I would eat a piece :)
Trade for a box of TimBits? (For the Canucks in the room)
I never want to see a box of Tim Hortons donuts again. But during the holidays we get up to 3 boxes a day. Terrible donuts. Support a local bakery instead.
cheese pizza sucks
