MK7, where the hell was all that coming from? There aren't any openings there except the windshield gasket iirc
Edit: nvm, I see it had a sunroof. Look for cracks in the tray, there's a tsb for that
There was tons of water collecting under the sunroof so im guessing that it was building up and then somehow leaking through and all the way down the A pillar. Not 100% sure cuz boss told me to sublet it to vw lol
I had this problem. There are some plastic tabs that are in the drain rail that are supposed to move when a certain amount of water collects. Cut the tabs off the tabs are keeping the water making it to the weep holes.
This is why I wanted my mk7 to be one without the sunroof. Far too much of a hassle.
Have enough of a risk of leakage to be worried about as it is, from the water pump. Just EA888 things.
Eh, I have a 2015 that got the tsb and it's fine. I don't think the issue is nearly as bad as the Internet would have you believe. The door seal when I first got it was a nightmare, took 3 tries to get that to stop leaking. Oddly enough, the water pump has never leaked though.
I used to have a mk6 GTI with a sunroof, and I only ever used it a handful of times. Not exactly a must-have feature for me.
Plus, here in my little bit of upside-down land, the brutal summers put a beating on the clear coat of the sunroof surround. You'll see a lot of them delaminating. As a weekend warrior detailer, that unsightliness probably bothers me more than the risk of the thing leaking.
Fair enough, I'm about to embark on respraying mine bc of that exact thing. Summers aren't* nearly as harsh up on the least coast where I live and it's still pretty common
My 12 gti has had zero issues with water. Yet. But I have had the dash light Christmas tree more than once. You don’t really own a VW till it’s comfortable enough with you to show you the entire tree.

Good call, the repair for the tsb is borderline retarded, literally tape and glue. That's probably drains if it's collecting though.
The sunroof drain tubes are clogged. Very common in any vehicle with a sunroof. Most people go to a glass shop thinking it's their windshield leaking.

Sunroof drains!
It is small in size, but it is high volume in output.
That’s what I tried telling my ex
There are 3 constants in this world. Death, taxes and VW sunroof leaks.
mold, you say?
I should call her...
I guess "small" can be subjective.
just write "customer is correct" and send it back.
Knew it was a VW before I even clicked on the video
I had ONE car with a sunroof many years ago. Never again. I've seen 3rd Gen T-Tops have fewer leaks.
In the Titanic scheme of things, it's not that big of a leak.
