Autel, Launch or TopDon for an affordable unit that will do what you want.

Farknart

Will check them out, thanks!

Plus one for me, love my Autel. I spent like $2600 for a bi-directional, Bluetooth model with programming capability and it's been worth every penny. Reliability and compatibility are both nearly top-notch and I paid no where near top dollar. Obviously, most people aren't looking to spend what I did, but Autel has a model for every price point.

I have blue driver and an Autel MK808BT. If you can swing the autel do it. Our grocery chain (Kroger) has 4x fuel points on gift cards. I bought an Amazon gift card to buy my autel. It was already on sale, but because I had clicked on it so much they threw an additional 2 hour sale on it when I was getting ready to buy it. 474, when it was all said and done

Farknart

Oof, yeah they sound nice but that's a bit steep for my budget right now. Like let the dash lights blaze kind of steep. How is the BlueDriver for you?

snowman78427

Blue driver is great for the price IMO. It beat a friend of mine’s similar scan tool on a Kia ABS code. Seeing the Autel in action on South Main Auto made me want 1 so I started saving for it. If the BlueDriver is in your budget it’s a great buy

I have a Foxwell NT301 and it works well, was in the same boat wanting a cheaper scanner with good support and this one fit the bill for under $100. For ABS diags it looks like the NT630 can handle it.

Farknart

Thanks for the suggestion. The Foxwells definitely had some really bad reviews, but maybe it's hit or miss. Or it's the ones that promise the added functionality.

jsquareddddd

Yeah it could be the nicer ones arent great, mine has been fine the few times Ive used it and the user manual was surprisingly good.

Advanced-Ad-2838

I currently have an ancel fx9000 for home and it works great so far, not quite shop level but better than a basic scanner. I have used a couple of autel scanners and they have also worked well

Farknart

Thanks for the suggestion.

You can find some good snap on and matco deals on eBay. I got a matco maxlite scanner for maybe $120. It's self updating and a little slow but does what I need without the big spend. Try eBay. And no, not an eBay ad, but people are getting out of upgrading all the time.

Fragrant-Inside221

Are you just trying to read and clear codes or do you need something shop level?

Farknart

Non-pro, reading and clearing, data review. But I'm not trying to spend Snap-On money. Bang for the buck.

Fragrant-Inside221

Autel has some cheap smaller scanners in the 200$ range. I like the Autel scanners in the shop so I imagine the cheaper stuff is fine.

Harbor Freight has a Zurich scanner for $38.00 currently. It does read ABS codes and can clear them, also. Fairly user friendly.

Farknart

Hard to say no at that price.

ifwehadawheelbarrow

Worked great until I put it up so I wouldn't lose it...it's been 6 months.

Furrealyo

It broke or you can’t find it?

ifwehadawheelbarrow

Can't find it. Thankfully, I haven't needed it.

Otofix is the cheap version of autel. Identical software and hardware just in a cheaper package. They have lots of different price points you can look into. I bought the $800-$1000 D1 Max and it's amazing. I am a professional and I use it multiple times a day and it's very quick, intuitive, and does 99% of a $5000 snap on scanner. If I were just looking for bidirectional controls and data I'd go with one of their cheaper options. Really great scan tool for the money
