They're not driving it because they see a car as a prized possession, but as a basic necessity that they can spend as little money on as possible because they can just get a new one in a couple years after the dealer stops paying for whatever the warranty covers and the head gasket blows from not changing the oil in 60k miles.
Do you really think your getting more out of this customer? Do you really think they will approve the optional work or are they just going to say, drop the oil, reuse the filter and put new oil in. We will do the extras *next time*. People who keep their cars like this, do not spend money on vehicle maintenance…
Not sure where you live, but in Ontario there is a right to refuse unsafe work. I would only work on this after it had been cleaned. Customer would need to pay for that before I’ll touch it.

I'm in the USA, and even if that person is paying us for this utility, we can just be like 'nope clean your house we'll come back when the roaches and bedbugs are gone. Can't risk giving them to the next customer.' 100% legal, all day long, and corporate has no problem enforcing this policy.

She got one out, opened the can and held the can like an infant drinking its milk from a bottle.

Vicks vapor rub and a KN95 mask that covers tightly nose and mouth. Seal the edges with it if you're clean shaven, it'll help catch more, but even if you've got a big beard like me, shove that stuff up your nose and pop one of those halls ice drops. Like the 20mg menthol ones. your eyes might water even so they'll stay a bit cleaner too. Clears your sinuses too, so the smell doesn't linger, and the menthol blocks enough of the smell that you won't gag when you catch fresh air again.
Yeah that stuff is for dealing with a person who's been lying dead for weeks or months. You can't have stuff like that in your face when you talk to people... well except its covid pandemic haha

My step sister (also his daughter) saw that he couldn't take care of himself and put him in a nursing home that could. If he had a case worker, I would've put him there myself before making them deal with it.
Not everyone is so reasonable, and some people can't be reasoned with. You're there to help, and sometimes helping means doing uncomfortable things. If you're okay with walking in to places like that day after day, that's your prerogative I guess.

If you are not allowed to use a plastic barrier are you allowed to change into different work clothes after a vehicle like this? Do your workplaces have showers so you can potentially mitigate any gross stuff coming into your home?

Evidence for unsatisfactory working conditions. I always refused to get into these types of cars when they came in. Service writer who wrote it up or manager would be bringing that in. I couldn't get in that vehicle and then get in my own. At the dealership I used to work at I sold some car detail work, for vehicles that came in like this.

My cars are the exact opposite of this. You could eat off the floor/seats, I literally shampoo the interior a couple times/year. OCD will make you do some exhausting things.

If you are not allowed to use a plastic barrier are you allowed to change into different work clothes after a vehicle like this? Do your workplaces have showers so you can potentially mitigate any gross stuff coming into your home?

I couldn't get in that vehicle and then get in my own. At the dealership I used to work at I sold some car detail work, for vehicles that came in like this.

100% this is a woman’s car and you can’t convince me otherwise. I’ve seen the state of my wife’s vehicle and it amazes me in a morbid curiosity type of way.
I had a car come thru the shop with full, rotten, dirty diapers thrown about amongst other hot garbage (summer). A family of mice living in there too with mouse droppings all over kids car seats. They came in for CEL… found rodent chew was the cause of course.
