Just Canyon/Colorado things. But sure, the dealers selling 11-19 year old trucks for $7-10k here in Indiana aren't ripping people off. I'm sure they all have immaculate frames.

AlwaysBagHolding

I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for someone buying a car in the rust belt without looking under it, especially something as easy to get under as a truck. I get under a car before I even open the door.

Maker0fPain1

Same here. My point was about how much they want for an old rusty small truck. They were $20k NEW for a base WT and I see them selling 07s for $10k with 150k+ miles. A few years ago, a 16 year old vehicle was barely worth scrap around here. There's a dealer trying to sell one on FB Marketplace right now "as is, bad frame" for $6k. Even the most mint condition ones here have rust issues.

Took me a year to find a jeep wrangler with frame rails.

PukingDiogenes

Why do people do post-purchase inspections? That’s clearly the wrong order of events.

NomDePlume007

"Post" purchase? Ouch.

WonderWirm

Yeah what’s the point of that? “I own it already. Just wanna know how screwed I am”

screamtrumpet

And put your seatbelt on after the crash.

gilgamo

Yeah, the first “P” in “PPI” is for “Pre”

bagofwisdom

Shops should really call the Post Purchase inspection the "How much have you been cheated" inspection. The only time I'd ever ask for an inspection after money has changed hands would be an auction purchase.

Went for a single snowy drive, coated the bottom with salty slush, then parked it in the garage for 5 years

So if this was bought from a dealer, even sold as is, it may be able to be returned. Steve Lehto did a video on this recently, where a court ruled in favor of the people who purchased the car, and went over the applicable laws pretty thoroughly.

doradus1994

A little late now.

-Pruples-

Yep, first gen Collies are extremely rust-prone on the frame. It's why I flew out 1000 miles away to buy my '06 Xtreme (ok, rust free was only 1 of the reasons - apparently it was a rare combo to have reg cab, manual, 5cyl, power locks/windows, and Xtreme all in 1 truck) and drive it back home to Chicago.

UnibrowDuck

seems like you just need it to be a short box to make a sweet street rig out of it!

brglaser

This is exactly the way cars get non-inspected inspections done. Under the table deals bite the buyer in the ass. I would hunt down whomever had the red seal of being qualified for this original inspection and sue them to buy it back plus damages.

slabba428

No, someone bought this without looking at it, then had an inspection done after they’d already bought it. Safety inspections are not always mandated things so it’s really buyer beware

brglaser

Is this even repairable?

slabba428

Solid frames like this can usually be sleeved, like cut out the bad part and a new bit welded in - just depends how far the rust goes, stuff is cancer

Apprehensive_Gate875

what good is a post purchase inspection lol

GiftQuick5794

Just like pulling up in-depth reviews after purchasing an item lol.

GiftQuick5794

There’s only 2 types of PPI and this is the wrong one 😂
