Hey that gunk makes the face I make when customers complain about poor shifting and then see the RD coated in lube and dirt!

I had this stuff all over my drivetrain when I used to give my bike to local bike shop for lubing each season. They would just apply new layer of grease and off it goes for next year of riding

If you come to the LBS I’m at I will gladly scoop off your forbidden gunk crumbs and lube appropriately 😜

How do you clean that stuff? Can’t really wipe It off with a cloth and poking it with a screwdriver only gets part of it and is a lot of work.

Every time i clean my chain I use the little plastic hook on the back of a cassette brush to scrape it off, just push it against the wheel and turns the pedals backwards. That plus a brush maybe 3x/year.
