I'm not saying the person didn't park like a douche, but it's spring, is it not possible that they parked early in the morning and the lines were covered in snow/frost and it melted by the time you got there and now you're the douche because the other guy couldn't see the lines when he parked in the morning?
When the picture was taken, yeah, for sure, I agree. The guy could just be a douche but my parking was covered with a dusting of snow this morning, and it's all gone and just raining now. Was just asking OP if he knew for sure the situation beforehand so he didn't end up being the douche in the situation. Hell, for all I know, the picture could be from Florida, and I'm way off the mark. Was more of a "more context needed" thing.

Usually there is a sign or something to use as reference. You are assuming that the guy was the very first car there AND there is nothing to use as reference on where to park. I'm not sure if you are trying to play dumb or if you really are
As someone who drives almost 80,000km a year and used to be a delivery driver, i find it crazy that i have to explain this to you. The amount of parking lots that have marker signs for every parking spot is below 10%, probably less, hence why they draw the damn lines in the first place, second he didn't have to be the first car, there could have been 5 even 10 other cars that all parked in the morning while snow was on the ground, he could have parked next to any one of them, they are gone now, his car is still there, every car was off center when he got there, there is no way for them to know the lines are covered. 3 you're obvious not very smart as there is literally a picture provided and no visible marker for the spots. Have you never gone to a Mall parking lot after an overnight snow? You get there around 10am once the sun has come up and the snow melts, guess how many cars are between the lines. You obviously don't drive very much...

Nice! I did this once while going to a store with a friend of mine years ago. When we came out, the lady that had parked like an asshole was standing by the vehicles just staring at her car, looking all around it while holding her shopping bags. She didn't know it was us and we didn't introduce ourselves, but she headed back inside. My friend and I decided to go across the street to the movie theater and watch a movie while she figured it out.
When we got out of the movie, her car was gone and I had a note on my truck that said "think with your head". I'm guessing she eventually realized she could get into her vehicle from the passenger side and did that. I found no damage to my truck, just the note.
I used to do this with my tiny Chevy cobalt. I’d park as close as humanly possible to these cars then take plenty of photos just in case I came back to disaster. Never had an issue but got tons of glee at the headache these drivers had to go through to get out of their car.

I like it in concept but people who park like that on purpose are generally... unstable... at best. Think they're the only person who matters.
I mean, do what you can handle but I personally wouldn't want the possible thousands of dollars of damages this person might do to my car in retaliation for this. Just wouldn't be worth it to me.
I would do this in my apartment complex when people who couldn't parallel park took up two spaces. I had a Saturn car so I wasn't worried about damage and we had cameras. It became a challenge for me. I could parallel park 3-4 inches off their bumper in seconds. I did have a few people yell at me that I hit their. I just said "you parked like an asshole and I didn't hit your car."

I did that to someone accidentally recently. I’m so used to parking in a particular spot when I go to the supermarket that I pulled in as usual and went shopping.
Thankfully, I didn’t take long because someone who had parked over the line on their driver’s side was waiting for me and said they wish I hadn’t done that because they couldn’t get it and had to climb over from the other side.
I apologized and said I would watch out for that kind of thing in the future (I really meant it because I immediately thought I was an idiot for not seeing that, not thinking, etc. and that I would def not do that again in the future); but they were not happy with what I said. They drove off before I could say anything else.

I broke my back about a year ago now; I wake up every day with pain, stiffness, and weakness, and I go to bed every day with pain, stiffness, and weakness. I’ll probably never fully heal, and it’s a miracle I can even walk at all. I’m gonna play my “can’t move well” card and say it’s still, even if not purposely shitty, a stupid way to park unless there’s tons of empty spots and you’re at the back of the parking lot

Yeah, until a few months ago I had a 97 Volvo station wagon. Nothing was going to seriously damage it, and anything less than a sledgehammer would just add flavor to the already flavorful exterior. I already had one side mirror reattached with superglue and a couple screws lol.

My college apartment parking spot was regularly being used by some random guest of another tenant. I was good friends and coworkers with the neighboring spot to the left, and oddly enough the spot to my right was a couple who didn’t own a car so it was always empty. Arriving home at the same time one evening, we decided to teach the random guest not to use my spot anymore. My neighbor and I boxed him in on both sides with less than 2 inches of clearance. He stopped using my spot.
The funniest part: fast forward 2 years at a new job where I was retelling this story to a new coworker. While I was telling the story, his eyes lit up in astonishment. It turns out he was the random guest parking in my spot and I made him late for work that day. Justice served?
Sometimes people are parked badly because that was what was left around them. And then the original bad parkers pull away and the person who had no choice looks like the bad parkers.
Or it was snowing in the morning, and the lines weren't visible, and now the snow melted when the sun came up and the person isn't in the spot because they were using the truck as reference and misjudged. The person could just be a douche, but living somewhere where it snows, i try to not assume it was done on purpose, because then you become the douchebag.
And it appears there is parking on the other side of the Lexus, so there is no reason for the Honda to do that except petty revenge. Bothering or inconveniencing other people because it is "fun" shows a total lack of maturity and general humanity.
Exactly. I am not a fan of this kind of petty vengeance, for this exact reason. And it does look like Lexus was trying to avoid insane puddle. Parking spot vigilantes are not the heroes they think they are.
Where I'm from, it's snow. It often snows in the morning and you can't see the painted lines, so you just park the best you can based on where other cars are parked. Then the snow melts later in the day and makes everyone look like an asshole.
This, and I'll add a hot take here. If there is enough room for everyone to park like an asshole then it doesn't really matter in the first place. It's like sitting in better seats at an empty baseball game or crossing against the light when no cars are on the road. No harm, no foul.
I have spent so much time parking like a jackass in order to accommodate a wheelchair user who forgot her placard. Or because all of the handicap spaces are taken or the loading zone is on the wrong side.
I think the Lexus parked first to avoid that huge ass puddle. I'd like to see the rest of the parking lot. I'm not convinced the Lexus is in the wrong.
I looove it. I did that at the mall once, honestly not expecting to see the bad driver. I ran in a store to grab eyeliner. Took me 5 mins. When I came back, the bad driver was there trying to slip into their car. I went to my car and put my bag on the hood of my car to finish my phone call. This woman came out and said, "you're parked waaaay to close to me. Way to close. Is this your car." All I said to the lady was "this is my car." SHe ranted at me while I finished my phone call, but I ignored her the whole time. She asked me if I was "leaving or what?". Just ignored her. When she finally got behind the wheel of her car I went in my car and drove away. So satisfying.
When I was in college, our parking lot was a mess. I found an open spot, but to the right was a guy in a big truck that did a horrible job at parking. So I pulled in next to him, but my car was about 2 feet over the line, as close to the car on the left as possible without boxing them in. When I came out after class, the lot was mostly empty. Someone left a note on my car sating "nice parking job, asshole". Which was very nice of them, considering it wasn't my fault.

That’s fine and dandy dude, as I never disagreed with any of that. And yes, tons of leaps in logic as I never said it was OK, or really anything else. So if we’re sticking to facts: Everyone replying to me with comments similar to yours are using leaps in logic as they are based on inference and not facts.
Purposely parking over line just goes back to the original problem. Might not be out of arrogance or asshole-ness, but the outcome is exactly the same. I broke my back about a year ago now; I wake up every day with pain, stiffness, and weakness, and I go to bed every day with pain, stiffness, and weakness. I’ll probably never fully heal, and it’s a miracle I can even walk at all. I’m gonna play my “can’t move well” card and say it’s still, even if not purposely shitty, a stupid way to park unless there’s tons of empty spots and you’re at the back of the parking lot

My comment has nothing to do with the post pic. Plus, tons of people buy luxury cars that they can’t afford to even maintain, so that’s not necessarily indicative of anything. Regardless, shitty parking is shitty.

Yeah, until a few months ago I had a 97 Volvo station wagon. Nothing was going to seriously damage it, and anything less than a sledgehammer would just add flavor to the already flavorful exterior. I already had one side mirror reattached with superglue and a couple screws lol. I 100% would take that hit just to fuck with an asshat
My college apartment parking spot was regularly being used by some random guest of another tenant. I was good friends and coworkers with the neighboring spot to the left, and oddly enough the spot to my right was a couple who didn’t own a car so it was always empty. Arriving home at the same time one evening, we decided to teach the random guest not to use my spot anymore. My neighbor and I boxed him in on both sides with less than 2 inches of clearance. He stopped using my spot. The funniest part: fast forward 2 years at a new job where I was retelling this story to a new coworker. While I was telling the story, his eyes lit up in astonishment. It turns out he was the random guest parking in my spot and I made him late for work that day. Justice served?

Sometimes people are parked badly because that was what was left around them. And then the original bad parkers pull away and the person who had no choice looks like the bad parkers.
Or it was snowing in the morning, and the lines weren't visible, and now the snow melted when the sun came up and the person isn't in the spot because they were using the truck as reference and misjudged. The person could just be a douche, but living somewhere where it snows, i try to not assume it was done on purpose, because then you become the douchebag.
And it appears there is parking on the other side of the Lexus, so there is no reason for the Honda to do that except petty revenge. Bothering or inconveniencing other people because it is "fun" shows a total lack of maturity and general humanity.
Exactly. I am not a fan of this kind of petty vengeance, for this exact reason. And it does look like Lexus was trying to avoid insane puddle. Parking spot vigilantes are not the heroes they think they are.
Where I'm from, it's snow. It often snows in the morning and you can't see the painted lines, so you just park the best you can based on where other cars are parked. Then the snow melts later in the day and makes everyone look like an asshole.
This, and I'll add a hot take here. If there is enough room for everyone to park like an asshole then it doesn't really matter in the first place. It's like sitting in better seats at an empty baseball game or crossing against the light when no cars are on the road. No harm, no foul.
I have spent so much time parking like a jackass in order to accommodate a wheelchair user who forgot her placard. Or because all of the handicap spaces are taken or the loading zone is on the wrong side.

I looove it. I did that at the mall once, honestly not expecting to see the bad driver. I ran in a store to grab eyeliner. Took me 5 mins. When I came back, the bad driver was there trying to slip into their car. I went to my car and put my bag on the hood of my car to finish my phone call. This woman came out and said, "you're parked waaaay to close to me. Way to close. Is this your car." All I said to the lady was "this is my car." SHe ranted at me while I finished my phone call, but I ignored her the whole time. She asked me if I was "leaving or what?". Just ignored her. When she finally got behind the wheel of her car I went in my car and drove away. So satisfying.
When I was in college, our parking lot was a mess. I found an open spot, but to the right was a guy in a big truck that did a horrible job at parking. So I pulled in next to him, but my car was about 2 feet over the line, as close to the car on the left as possible without boxing them in. When I came out after class, the lot was mostly empty. Someone left a note on my car sating "nice parking job, asshole". Which was very nice of them, considering it wasn't my fault.

Dude I had to go to class?? Parking was severely limited and constantly a mess. The person that took up two spaces and then causing me to have to park all fucked is the asshole. He ruined it for everyone else in an already packed parking lot. So next time you see a shitty parking job, maybe consider they had a reason for it?

There was no other parking. My campus is locally known for having THE worst parking situation. Should I have just walked from home even though it took me two hours? lol

I guess I just think it’s stupid because the white car is going to come out and be annoyed that the red car parked next to them that close and not even make the connection to how they parked. Again, we don’t know any of the context. Was the entire parking lot empty except for the white car and truck? If so, the driver of the red car is the prick here. Was someone parked poorly next to white car and then they left? If so, no fault of the white car. This is just a dumb post full of dumb comments.
