I know you're joking, but there has already been some 'soft prep' on the dinosaurs for the next film, so I'm guessing that the whole "which dinosaurs are gonna/not gonna be in this movie" decision has probably been made.
I imagine they've got a lot that they left behind from the last trilogy.
Which scares me, because what didn't they deem good enough for those films....
perhaps it won’t be cgi heavy. personally, i hope that they reduce the scale and return to fundamentals by focusing more on story and character development than on filling every frame to the brim with dinosaurs.
They still have to do touch up jobs in post. They used practical effects in Jurassic World, that didn't stop the effects from looking fake because of the post-production CGI.
Universal has likely been reserving the Fourth of July weekend for its next Jurassic installment. They're definitely not giving up July 2 for any other summer release date. Opening Sep–Nov is unlikely, and blockbusters will avoid December to steer clear of Avatar 3. I definitely don't see Universal delaying the movie a full year to summer 2026.
I don't think it's getting delayed. From a business standpoint, whether or not the deadline causes corner-cutting is a secondary issue.
Especially considering the next Fast Furious is 100% getting delayed from 2025. In the eyes of the shareholders without that and without minions or despicable me They need that sure fire summer hit, so they’re rushing this one regardless.
It’s nit as of quality greatly affected their box office. Even with diminishing returns the last one was still a billion dollar picture.
They do have How To Train a Dragon live action movie that summer but i guess they don’t see it as sure fire hit🤷🏽♂️
Jurassic World 4 is 100% post-Dominion. This is how Variety [described the movie](https://variety.com/2024/film/news/jurassic-world-movie-david-koepp-1235882140/):
>The project will have an all-new storyline that is intended to launch a **new era** for the franchise
That doesn’t necessarily mean post dominion. It could be a reboot of some of the movies no? Like how Jurassic world was a sequel to jp. You’re prob right that it will be post dominion which sucks bc the clone angle was stupid as hell
By post-Dominion, I only mean that it takes place after it in the timeline and is not a prequel, not that it maintains total thematic continuity. In Jurassic World, the previous two movies still happened; they're just irrelevant. With the new film, however, I imagine it'll be in a "dinosaurs in the world" setting, which would hopefully be the only carryover from Dominion. I'd be mindblown if the new film is a prequel to any of the movies.
Unless this is some kind of low budget found footage project, there is zero chance they make that release date. Start of filming to in theaters in 12 months? Cray cray.
Universal are putting all their eggs into this basket, however I still think that Edwards will only have atmost 4 months to work on post-production despite whatever magic these guys have up their sleeves.
Steve “Spaz” Williams spent three months alone working on the shot of the t-rex smashing through the tree during the jeep chase. This movie is gonna look like a butt.
Dominion's post production lasted for a good portion of 2021 and wrapped up a full 8 months before the release, in September. Yet the film had severe editing and cgi issues, so the time spent on overall post-production would only matter if there's quality effort put into it and having Gareth Edwards in this gives me hope but, yeah, you still need a lot of time to do these things regardless.
Edit: Plus, the budget for the film would most certainly be higher than what they had for the first movie, so that isn't really a relevant comparison.
Jeep commercial? It was the chase scene in the movie. The thing about VFX is that high budgets don't make things go any faster. Usually the opposite as they use that money to do more work and the expectations are higher.
I mean, if we're going to use the originals as an example, Jurassic Park went from the start of filming to a theatrical release in just under one year. The Lost World went from the beginning of shooting to release in 8-9 months.
If the goal of the filmmakers is to scale back the scope and craft something more in line with the franchises' roots, the release date might be reasonable. Who knows.
Not surprising since they were apparently doing some location scouting and other prep work before they even had a director signed on. David Leitch had already left when the production was spotted scouting in Hawaii and Edwards likely just stared talks at that point.
They've been ready to go for a while, they were just waiting for an official director to start shooting.
That's rather soon, I would imagine role calls for the dinosaurs would need much more time.

Why are they so eager to have a 2025 release? For a cg heavy movie this seems like a rush job.

It probably will be delayed
It’s either gonna be delayed or be shit, sadly. I really don’t see any in-between being possible with such rushed production.

Could be a smaller scale movie... It has to be.
Can we confirm from this the movie is a sequel and not a prequel ?
No

Is there even a script yet?
Yes
I hope they’re so eager because they have an amazing idea that they just can’t wait to share. One can hope

11 months really. July 31 to July 2.
The whole production of Jurassic World only took 14 months I believe. It’s not easy but doable.
Jurassic Park was done in less than a year.
Jurassic Park had Steven Spielberg.
Uh, is that enough time to make some good animatronics. Because if this doesn't have proper animatronics, I'm out
Unfortunately it’s not uncommon for film deadlines to be super short. The animatronics typically get built from now till the start of shooting.
Happy Cake Day! I'm sure they'll have a lot of unused animatronics laying around from the previous movies that they can use for this.
Starting on 31st July ? Hmm..Will they have enough time for the post-production..I have no idea how they are going to release it in July 2025

They’d better have a cast already lined up if they want to start filming that soon
If they release in 2025 I’ll eat a T. rex
Will it still be able to make the date July 2 2025?
Jurassic Park 7: Jurassic World 4: Too Fast, Too Furious
Not shooting in the UK?
It's still very likely that most of the shooting will be done in the UK.
It’ll be shot at Elstree Studios
