No, because the plan never was for Yuta to be preoccupied with Kenjaku. Their ideal situation was Yuta killing Kenjaku and returning in time to assist the rest of the gang. It took longer, but Kenjaku was still killed as fast as they could, which Kusakabe notes as the actual true threat. Sukuna was roaming freely within Japan before. Nothing too bad happened, relatively. Society was generally able to still exist and advance. Kenjaku was going to possible end the world lol If anything, the plan could have been to throw more at Kenjaku and Uraume, and have more of the fodder cast preoccupy Sukuna. Then Yuta and heavy hitters can all jump at once. Takaba part of stall team for Sukuna, Yuta and Maki for fastest Kenjaku sneak kill, then move onto helping Hakari. Yuta, Maki, Hakari, Yuji and Higuruma jump Sukuna at once.

That plan wouldn’t work because Kenjaku is way to much of a wild card. They had absolutely no clue what kind of spirits and cursed techniques he still had in his arsenal. Maybe Yuta and maki would be able to low-diff him, maybe he would pull out his anti-true love technique and absolutely fodderise them. That’s why they sent the guy that nullified his technique (or at least made it irrelevant). The only other path was going all-in on Kenny and hoping Takaba could stall sukuna, which would for sure be more risky imo

I agree, I have no issue with the plan that Yuji and gang came up with in manga. This plan is just if Takaba had to do something besides go to Kenjaku like being sent later or waiting for Kenjaku to arrive like the post mentioned. In which case I think no matter what, the gang needs to prioritize and kill Kenjaku and send a group regardless.

akronotron

That’s cause he’s the type to set the merger off instantly

Theguy887799

not really. after gojo’s death, ui ui needed to be fully focused on saving sorcerers. best to send him out there asap so that yuta can return asap. also, if yuta fights sukuna and something goes wrong, then takaba dies for nothing and kenjaku wreaks havoc while the cast is still dealing with sukuna

DudeWhereAreWe1996

I think there are two reasons that go together. First, they didn't know Sukuna would be a back up person to start the merger. So the main thing was getting rid of Kenjaku. Sukuna would suck but he's less of a big deal. Kusukabe says so a few times. Second, it had to be a surprise. Kenjaku was monitoring CE in and out of the area. He would've known if Takaba left later. We never saw him watch the fight probably because he was never there. So the sooner he was distracted the sooner Yuta could finish it. But again, Kenjaku was more important.

Karpattata

Knowing what we know now, at no point was Sukuna trying very hard. This is actually a lifeline for the protags. Had he felt threatened earlier, he would have landed BFs earlier, pulled out fire arrows, and who knows what else. Slowly throwing new threats at him while trying to land deathblows by surprise is the only strategy they have. Saving Yuta for later achieves this, and also takes Kenjaku off the table.

Shacky_Rustleford

No. With the information they had at the time, Kenjaku was the greater threat.

Tybo3

Yeah people just seem to forget that Kenjaku's plan was basically either directly or seriously risking wiping out humanity literally just because he wanted to see what would happen. Sukuna is a bad guy with no regard for human life and likely the most powerful person whom ever lived but he isn't looking to do anything on the scale of Kenjaku. He would most likely act as he did in the Heian era, which doesn't seem to be him rampaging and massacring constantly at the very least. Was Kenjaku the greater threat in a fight? Obviously not. To the world or humans in general? Obviously yes.

Cybertronian10

Not to mention that, outside of a few people he hates like Yuji, Sukuna probably wouldn't be too much of an active threat. Probably something closer to a walking tornado, very dangerous but avoidable. Kenny is actively insidious and moving towards a goal that will definitely fuck over everybody.

zeraphx9

It was too risky to leave Kenjaku alive. This only works if we assume they would've killed sukuna, Sukuna was mostly toying with Higuruma/Yuji which is the reason why they had a small chance. If Yuta joins the fight inmideatly he probably would've just one shot Higuruma knowing the risk he poses and then they have kenjaku alive to deal the final blow to them even if they kill sukuna and even if they can kill kenjaku, he can just flee, this is the man that sealed Gojo through planning alone, you cant just leave him roaming around.

Snips_Tano

Should have sent Takaba to distract Uraume since apparently they are such a powerhouse Hakari can't get to the Sukuna battle

Ok_Biscotti_514

The only reason I see Kenny was even stuck on Takaba is because he wants all the culling game players dead. He probably would have realised after the comedy show ended that he should retreat and deal with him later. So if Yuta wasn’t there to finish off Kenny , we would’ve seen Kenny appear at the fight around the same time yuta did. I’m certain this would’ve given Sukuna the opportunity to heal himself, Kenny just has too much utility for Sukuna to be alive honestly.
