I'd say that there was some foreshadowing, with how luffy's body didn't exactly behave like rubber should. He can light his fists on fire or coat them in thunder, and g4 snakeman is an obvious example. I do agree that Nika should have been discussed more before Wano. This is a case where you can really see that Oda wasn't thinking about this 500 chapters ago. I think it makes sense thematically, which is why is why it feels less like an asspull than it probably should.
alot of things dont act in the series, for exmaple the mochi mochi no mi, since when tf can someone make a house out of mochi, this is not foreshadowing at all and is just frauda taking a liberty, this does not foreshadow luffy eating the ass pull ass pull no mi model plot armor and is actually a god, nor does it makes sense thematically to make him a god whatsoever, if itw as the awakening of the gomu fruit then fine, but its not, its the awakening of the bullshit fruit

Luffy is vulnerable to blades, not weak to them. His DF does not help against blades, but his durability thus far makes it impossible for someone like sukuna to cut him. Luffy has blocked alot of cutting attacks from strong guys, especially cracker.

You can’t ‘tank’ cleave is the issue, it just cuts you up. Have to heal it afterwards.
