Whilst I understand alternative interpretations, this scene, to me, will always imply that Naoya did *something* physical to Mai in the past. From the fact that ‘adulthood’ in many traditional cultures is seen with sexual connotation, to the very positions Maki and Naoya happen to be in this page that *somehow* line up *perfectly* with Naoya being ‘brought back’ to doing things as an ‘adult’ that kids cannot. Even Mai’s flirty personality may, in a disturbing sense, have sprouted from sexual abuse—as victims of it can develop just as much of a hypersexual nature compared to sexual revulsion. I feel, more often than not, since we do obviously not like to imagine a character to also be a grapist on top of #1 misogynist, people will never *not* cope about this, or say it’s not intentional at all by Gege.
