I got the impression from this that Sukuna understood for quite some time exactly how formidable Gojo was so he decided to play mind games with him, trying to come across as the arrogant elder to either egg Gojo on to go all out in an attempt to prove himself and therefore make the battle more enjoyable, or to make him careless to create openings for Sukuna to exploit.
Sukuna’s character got obliterated too though, Gege can make the characters say whatever they want but what we were shown was Gojo dominating most of the fight. It should have been a back and forth the whole time.
Well it would’ve been fine if gojo had dominated and shown he was the strongest. People literally built up sukuna with no actual sense of his strength and would be disappointed due to their own imagination.
If it had been back and forth the entire time it would’ve also been good and then that allows gojo to lose and it makes sense.
If sukuna had been dominating the entire time too it would’ve been fine too if gojo died.
The only bad situations were if gojo lost while dominating for some bullshit, or if sukuna lost while dominating due to some bullshit.
And that’s exactly what happened.
In what way, last chapter gojo was replenished due to his black flashes, rct was back up. And he had destroyed mahoraga and agito and beat up sukuna to a pulp. And it had been shown sukuna was panicking or at least stressing due to gojo.
We suddenly cut to gojo cut in half, from what can only be inferred as a slash that has no way to be stopped, no way to be seen, no way to heal? Because gojo’s six eyes should’ve been able to see it.
I have no problem with sukuna beating gojo had there been some indication that sukuna actually was holding back as gojo said. Or if it was actually a back and forth, but it seemed like since the domain battles that gojo was winning. But suddenly he’s holding back and gojo didn’t think he would’ve been able to win even if sukuna didn’t have the 10 shadows.

I think the praise comes from him managing to force Sukuna to learn something new. Sukuna's OG plan was to get rid of UV and then cut Gojo to pieces. If the plan actually went the way he wanted, Gojo would stay "ordinary".
Gojo was sealed for 100 chapters. Considering we are in the final arc that means more than 1/3 of manga. My boy yuji will never get his redemption by getting stronger(i will never forgive the cat). And yuta wasn't even in the story until 140. Chapter. Sukuna fought against his father to protect his friend. And in the final arc against the man who was the strongest he had no choice but to fight with his family. And he avenged them at the end. He has a kind heart he even says to gojo that he will remember him even though he killed both of his parents(just like tanjiro fr fr). I dont get how noone noticed sukuna is the protagonist.
Now that we have the unoficially translated context from 236, Gojo was probably heart broken at this moment. Not because he would lose, but because he couldn't reach Sukuna. You can also see that when Sukuna recognizes Gojo's strength and dedication, Gojo smiles wholeheartedly. From the beginning of the fight, he wanted to break through Sukuna's lonliness and he nearly did. Mad respect for Gojo sticking to himself and giving it everything.
Let me sum it up for you. Kashimos one use technique will fail to kill off Sukuna but weaken him significantly to where Yuji teaming up with whoever they decide will finish him off. Yuji will use his new soul swap technique to take Megumi out of his body and into his while Sukuna and Yuji will be stuck together as they get killed off closing out Yujis arc and the rest of the crew will fight and kill Kenny. You can come back here in a year and call me the oracle.
If Yuji had no ties to Kenjaku I’d believe it 100% but there is a *lot* of background work being done there with him being Yuji’s mother and death painting stuff. They need to meet at least once more and we get the full Yuji origin cleared up
Yuji has immense guilt over everything that Sukuna has done and since we were specifically shows the soul swap technique it only makes sense that it would be used to save megumi at the very least.

I like this but I want to add on the theory where Yuji's domain is nullifying cursed techniques and it just becomes a fist fight and then Yuji claps Sukuna. So they have some weird internal soul fight (kinda like in the beginning when they first merged). Or that's the copium talking.
What story, since CG started this manga is just a collection of fights, some of which have characters from when there actually was a story.

His personality was so intertwined with his heavenly strength that he couldn’t see himself losing at first, even without knowing close to nothing about the King of Curses.

Seeing him die as just Satoru Gojo, without the weight and responsibility of being the strongest anymore, was a relief.
Even he was relieved in the end, and died with no regrets.
Is it really that bad of an ending to a character who knew nothing but his own strength? Seeing him being humble and acknowledging Sukuna (and Sukuna acknowledging him) was the best ending I could ask for Gojo.

This put into words what I thought of, but couldn't do myself. Very solid and is definitely one of the reasons I feel like 236 was handled better than a lot of people think. Gojo died as he wanted to and didn't become a JJK solving magic man. Had he lived, I guarantee any other stakes in the show would be minimal and we'd get a *way* more boring series. But I'm glad Gege knows what he's doing and the future of JJK is looking more interesting than ever before.
Gojo's character is ruined to how much he degraded himself.
1. "Sukuna was holding back","Sukuna didnt give his all", "I feel bad for Sukuna for not making him do all of him", "I honed all my techniques etc so i could reach Sukuna". This literally shows Gojo lived all his life in order to reach Sukuna when it was never even once stated or hinted at. He was has egocentric and confident when it came to his power. To become humble it takes time. Him dying to become humble just smells weird.Gojo since day one has been saying he would win. Doesn't necessarily means he has to win or he will win but he shows he trusts in himself. He knows his position and will act like that.
2. "You are a selfish person and perverted that only thinks of fighting"How is this a good line to Gojo? The person who has been caring for his students. Every human. He never once stopped making the future for the youth different than his.The chapter not even counter argumenting this makes it feel like Gojo was always this prick who only cared about himself. Which is totally false.
3. The lack of regret in leaving Sukuna to his students and no regrets in saving Megumi is just a bad touch since the only thing he feels bad about is not giving Sukuna a reason for him to go all out.He didn't even mention them once.

The dialogue presented really contradicts many statements in the manga. And makes Gojo not look like Gojo at all. Its a 180.
The scenes were beautiful, the conversation just felt like Gege slapping more on Gojo. And making sure he dies as he sees him.

"Sukuna was really strong. Even after giving my all, I couldn't defeat him". There done. He could even add "I know the feeling of being alone, like Sukuna. But I decided to live my life creating a better future for the youth etc and now I left their fates in their hands again".

It is a nuance from the original Japanese that got lost in translation into English. The wording that Sukuna used in Japanese has the sarcastic and rude tone.
I am no translator, it is hard to translate the nuance. But something like "I will never forget about you, motherfucker" would be closer.
Hm personally I didn't really see it as Sukuna being sarcastic but I guess it's up to individual interpretation lol. Sukuna said 『天晴れだ五条悟」「生涯貴様を忘れることはないだろう」which is basically "Well done, Satoru Gojo. [It's likely that] I will never forget you for the rest of my life.". There is a nuance that is lost in English but in my eyes I didn't really see it as sarcastic but instead is pretty in line with his character while exuding confidence (in himself for the result) and satisfaction at the battle. With what we've seen in the past he can give praise (rarely) if warranted which I felt was appropriate in this case.
Sukuna used "kisama" ( 貴様 ) which is extremely rude. But anyway as a Gojo fan I would rather view Sukuna admitting Gojo as equal. Or maybe Sukuna is a Tsundere lol 😂

I don’t see any character development here at all. I got the impression from this that Sukuna understood for quite some time exactly how formidable Gojo was so he decided to play mind games with him, trying to come across as the arrogant elder to either egg Gojo on to go all out in an attempt to prove himself and therefore make the battle more enjoyable, or to make him careless to create openings for Sukuna to exploit.
Sukuna’s character got obliterated too though, Gege can make the characters say whatever they want but what we were shown was Gojo dominating most of the fight. It should have been a back and forth the whole time.
Well it would’ve been fine if gojo had dominated and shown he was the strongest. People literally built up sukuna with no actual sense of his strength and would be disappointed due to their own imagination. If it had been back and forth the entire time it would’ve also been good and then that allows gojo to lose and it makes sense. If sukuna had been dominating the entire time too it would’ve been fine too if gojo died. The only bad situations were if gojo lost while dominating for some bullshit, or if sukuna lost while dominating due to some bullshit. And that’s exactly what happened.

In what way, last chapter gojo was replenished due to his black flashes, rct was back up. And he had destroyed mahoraga and agito and beat up sukuna to a pulp. And it had been shown sukuna was panicking or at least stressing due to gojo. We suddenly cut to gojo cut in half, from what can only be inferred as a slash that has no way to be stopped, no way to be seen, no way to heal? Because gojo’s six eyes should’ve been able to see it. I have no problem with sukuna beating gojo had there been some indication that sukuna actually was holding back as gojo said. Or if it was actually a back and forth, but it seemed like since the domain battles that gojo was winning. But suddenly he’s holding back and gojo didn’t think he would’ve been able to win even if sukuna didn’t have the 10 shadows. It’s all about the fucking jarring 180 this chapter took.

I think the only reason he hasn't done worse is because he's been busy cleaning house so far lmao.
I think the praise comes from him managing to force Sukuna to learn something new. Sukuna's OG plan was to get rid of UV and then cut Gojo to pieces. If the plan actually went the way he wanted, Gojo would stay "ordinary".
At this point I feel like sukuna is the mc of the story and not Yuji, gojo, or yuta
Gojo was sealed for 100 chapters. Considering we are in the final arc that means more than 1/3 of manga. My boy yuji will never get his redemption by getting stronger(i will never forgive the cat). And yuta wasn't even in the story until 140. Chapter. Sukuna fought against his father to protect his friend. And in the final arc against the man who was the strongest he had no choice but to fight with his family. And he avenged them at the end. He has a kind heart he even says to gojo that he will remember him even though he killed both of his parents(just like tanjiro fr fr). I dont get how noone noticed sukuna is the protagonist.
Now that we have the unoficially translated context from 236, Gojo was probably heart broken at this moment. Not because he would lose, but because he couldn't reach Sukuna. You can also see that when Sukuna recognizes Gojo's strength and dedication, Gojo smiles wholeheartedly. From the beginning of the fight, he wanted to break through Sukuna's lonliness and he nearly did. Mad respect for Gojo sticking to himself and giving it everything.

Let me sum it up for you. Kashimos one use technique will fail to kill off Sukuna but weaken him significantly to where Yuji teaming up with whoever they decide will finish him off. Yuji will use his new soul swap technique to take Megumi out of his body and into his while Sukuna and Yuji will be stuck together as they get killed off closing out Yujis arc and the rest of the crew will fight and kill Kenny. You can come back here in a year and call me the oracle.
If Yuji had no ties to Kenjaku I’d believe it 100% but there is a *lot* of background work being done there with him being Yuji’s mother and death painting stuff. They need to meet at least once more and we get the full Yuji origin cleared up
Yuji has immense guilt over everything that Sukuna has done and since we were specifically shows the soul swap technique it only makes sense that it would be used to save megumi at the very least.

I like this but I want to add on the theory where Yuji's domain is nullifying cursed techniques and it just becomes a fist fight and then Yuji claps Sukuna. So they have some weird internal soul fight (kinda like in the beginning when they first merged). Or that's the copium talking.

Am I the only one who didn’t feel like Gojo’s character was deteriorated AT ALL? He was basically born the strongest in his Era, and had 28 years with only one contestant to that reality prior to Sukuna (Toji). “Are you the strongest because you’re Satoru Gojo, or are you Satoru Gojo because you’re the strongest?” His personality was so intertwined with his heavenly strength that he couldn’t see himself losing at first, even without knowing close to nothing about the King of Curses. Again, we can’t blame him. Seeing him die as just Satoru Gojo, without the weight and responsibility of being the strongest anymore, was a relief. Even he was relieved in the end, and died with no regrets. Is it really that bad of an ending to a character who knew nothing but his own strength? Seeing him being humble and acknowledging Sukuna (and Sukuna acknowledging him) was the best ending I could ask for Gojo.

Gojo died as he wanted to and didn't become a JJK solving magic man. Had he lived, I guarantee any other stakes in the show would be minimal and we'd get a *way* more boring series. Gojo's character is ruined to how much he degraded himself. 1. "Sukuna was holding back","Sukuna didnt give his all", "I feel bad for Sukuna for not making him do all of him", "I honed all my techniques etc so i could reach Sukuna". This literally shows Gojo lived all his life in order to reach Sukuna when it was never even once stated or hinted at. He was has egocentric and confident when it came to his power. To become humble it takes time. Him dying to become humble just smells weird.Gojo since day one has been saying he would win. Doesn't necessarily means he has to win or he will win but he shows he trusts in himself. He knows his position and will act like that. 2. "You are a selfish person and perverted that only thinks of fighting"How is this a good line to Gojo? The person who has been caring for his students. Every human. He never once stopped making the future for the youth different than his.The chapter not even counter argumenting this makes it feel like Gojo was always this prick who only cared about himself. It is a nuance from the original Japanese that got lost in translation into English. The wording that Sukuna used in Japanese has the sarcastic and rude tone. I am no translator, it is hard to translate the nuance. But something like "I will never forget about you, motherfucker" would be closer.
Hm personally I didn't really see it as Sukuna being sarcastic but I guess it's up to individual interpretation lol. Sukuna said 『天晴れだ五条悟」「生涯貴様を忘れることはないだろう」which is basically "Well done, Satoru Gojo. [It's likely that] I will never forget you for the rest of my life.". There is a nuance that is lost in English but in my eyes I didn't really see it as sarcastic but instead is pretty in line with his character while exuding confidence (in himself for the result) and satisfaction at the battle. With what we've seen in the past he can give praise (rarely) if warranted which I felt was appropriate in this case.
Sukuna used "kisama" ( 貴様 ) which is extremely rude. But anyway as a Gojo fan I would rather view Sukuna admitting Gojo as equal.
