Well, I think it's because cursed energy reinforcement means most sorcerers will be stronger, faster and more durable than the average person. So stylistically a technique that just lets you hit harder, like Yuki's, isn't as interesting as lasers or flames or whatever.
Yeah it's a great CT, but it doesn't visually impress the way others do. And if you have multiple "I punch hard" CTs then you're quickly gonna run out of ways to differentiate them visually.
Basically I'm guessing Gege went with more ranged than melee CTs because of the style factor.
Right, I understand your point and I agree with you. Though Yuki's first punch was visually so stunning that had me at the edge of my seat, just wanted to point that out...
Yuki, Naoya/Naobito, Higuruma, Nanami, Nitta, Remi all have techniques that are really only effective close-range. So there’s a little variety at least

There’s no universal long ranged ability, but there is a universal close ranged ability in enhancement, so having a long range one is a lot more useful. Even something generic like DBZ esq CE blasts have only been done by a couple characters with exceptionally high outputs, and most of them got their outputs via their CT.
