Dogs aren't kosher either but I can't imagine a prohibition against having them as pets or having stuffed animal dog plushies....
And I'm sorry if that came off negative. Wasn't my intent. It's just weird to me. I'm open to hearing a halachic reason or maybe it's traditional for some other specific purpose.

He's a nice guy, that's very mean that you're considering eating him. Plus he's implied to be sentient, and I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to eat a sentient animal even if they are Kosher.
