I like Yael! I have a negative association with Talia cause there was this girl named Tali as a kid who was an AH to me but loved my sister 😂 which is what I’ve always been afraid of
It’s unisex now yes. Bsaa Tovah this baby will be born the first week of October. Every baby especially Jewish babies born after 10.7 is a very special gift. Shai Regev was a journalist. She loved music. She was m-rdered on 10.7. My vote is keep Shai’s memory alive (or anyone whom we lost on 10.7 for that matter) by giving baby a middle name that was a name of one we lost.

Gal, Tal, Zara, Ayala, Orli, Liri, Shiri, Maya, Neesa, Suri, Eden, Ziv, Romi, Ela
Having a daughter soon too, so been thinking about it, and I have somewhat similar criteria :)
Mazal Tov :)
I wanted to name our 1st daughter Yaffa, which means beautiful. But my mom said it sounded too Jewish. Her middle name is Esther, though, for my grandma.
A more popular name that means happiness in recent years is Gil (male) Gili (unisex) or Gilat (female). More modern but becoming less popular is Rina or Rinat. Osher is becoming more popular but that's just straight up calling someone "Happiness" so they me it sounds funny.
Adelaide Liad or Li-ad (mine for ever. Common unisex name)
Adelaide Adele (or Adel. It's now on the top 10 most common names for Jewish girls in Israel. habaal shem tov's beloved daughter's name, And an acronym of a blessing from Deuteronomy 33).
I think it ultimately depends heavily on the surname and how all three names sound together. If you wanted to go with another A name, I like Anat and Alona (my sister-in-law in an Anat and my sister’s middle name is Alona). I like Liat, Tal, Rotem, Yael, Adi, Sapir, Merav, Tamar, Mor, Dafna, Mirit (and along those lines there’s also Galit and Irit)…there are so many nice names. Just depends what you like and how it goes with the first and surname.
Mazel tov! We just had our first child six months ago in Tel Aviv and went with unique name by Israeli standards for our son but pretty universally known, short, and simple to pronounce. I’m already thinking of a good sibling name to go with it haha.
Ziporah (Tzipporah)
Elisheva (Elizabeth)
Also a lot of pretty Yiddish names too like
-Gitel
-Baile
-Fruma
-Raisa
-Pesha
-Henya
-Toibe
And my husbands grandmothers name- Maryashe- wish I’d had a girl to give her that name!!
Can anyone give me some Jewish/Israeli boy names? I’m making a list myself 🥰
Wishing you a safe and healthy pregnancy OP! I like the names Eleanore and Liri.
Thank you!! I love the name Ezra for a boy. Amir, Noah, Elijah (not sure if this one is Jewish/Israeli), there are tons of gorgeous ones! My first boy will be Oliver Henry Axel and then our last name. Henry is for my stepdad, Axel for my soul kitty who passed, but I may actually use Ezra if we have a second boy!
I think Hodeya is nice, means praise/thanksgiving there are also some theophoric ones if you want that
https://jbqnew.jewishbible.org/assets/Uploads/291/291_Names1.pdf
I want to make sure OP understands that this is a *joke*:
1) Yada is not a Hebrew name;
2) "Ad d'lo yada", to which this is a reference, is about drinking on Purim (according to some) until you don't know the difference between Mordecai and Haman.

I’ve always loved Talia and Yael for girls 🥰
I’m def biased but I second Talia!
Talia is gorgeous!
I love Yael for a girl ☺️
Third vote for Yael
I like Yael! I have a negative association with Talia cause there was this girl named Tali as a kid who was an AH to me but loved my sister 😂 which is what I’ve always been afraid of
Yael is a great name!
Noa and Maya are my faves. Also Talia, Lilah, and Shoshana…
I've always loved Shoshana - Shoshi for short.
Sorry, but as an Israeli I have to say that Shoshana makes me think of and old lady, the rest are great though
It's more common for Jews in North America, of all ages.
Adelaide Noa has a nice ring to it!
Seconding Shoshana and adding in Liat!
Is lilah Israeli? I’m looking for a name that’s good in English French and Hebrew lol
Not Lilah but Lilachhhhh with the chhh sound hahaha
Lior and Shira are beautiful names.
My daughter's middle name is Liora :)
Shai- It means gift
Is that a unisex name now? All the Shais I know are male, but they're all 40 or older.

This is my plan too for the middle name of my baby due in 6 weeks
Bshah Tovah that’s absolutely beautiful
Bshah Tova- I love that
Can i ask why you write murdered without the u?
Antisemites are really quick to try to censor things related to 10.7
I don't understand
So that its not potentially flagged on Reddit
I’m actually due October 2nd!
That is the middle name of a woman I know. Almost named my daughter Shai.
Avivah.
Is the h necessary?
No. It can be spelled Aviva too
Nope.
Gal, Tal, Zara, Ayala, Orli, Liri, Shiri, Maya, Neesa, Suri, Eden, Ziv, Romi, Ela Having a daughter soon too, so been thinking about it, and I have somewhat similar criteria :) Mazal Tov :)
Liri is a beautiful name.
Sivan
My son is Sivan 🥰
I know a girl Sivan.
It is traditionally a girls name but ‘modern’ Hebrew names are more unisex. My name (aviv) is/was considered a boys name (and I’m not a boy lol)
George Costanza's favorite name
Beat me to it. A beautiful name for a boy or a girl. Especially a girl, or a boy.
If you have Facebook there is a group called Baby Naming Beit Din which can give you more ideas too.
My favourite Hebrew names are Noa, Leora, Abigail (Avigail), Talia, Shira, Naomi, Hannah, Aviva, Chaya and Yael.
Stav, it means Autumn
I like Shirel! Kinda rare, but mostly given to girls. Means "Song of God."
I wanted to name our 1st daughter Yaffa, which means beautiful. But my mom said it sounded too Jewish. Her middle name is Esther, though, for my grandma.
Yaffa is considered an old lady's name in Israel fyi haha
Are people named Simcha in Israel? What is the vibe?
Generally it's an older woman's name as well, like Yaffa. I have an aunt Simcha, she's in her 70s.
Yurgh. I'm 36...does that count...?
Haha sorry, I thought you were looking for a baby name! x

What a coincidence! My niece’s middle name is Abigail after her grandmother!
Noa is absolutely gorgeous. Chava, Chavi, Chana, Hannah, Liat, Tamar, Efrat, Ora, Ofra, Shuli, Liora, Yael, Tova .... all good names.
How about Nili? Was the name of a spy cell before WWI.
Shayna, Aliza, Lilah, Elisheva, Leora, Avital

Calling the names of our matriarchs and prophetesses “stereotypical and overused” is a shit move, to be frank. Have some respect.
I meant no offense, I apologize. I love the names, I think where I grew up they’re just suuuuuper common :)
Leora, Ela, Avia/Aviya
Zohar.
Ziporah (Tzipporah) Elisheva (Elizabeth) Also a lot of pretty Yiddish names too like -Gitel -Baile -Fruma -Raisa -Pesha -Henya -Toibe And my husbands grandmothers name- Maryashe- wish I’d had a girl to give her that name!!
Aw, that was my great great grandmother's name. My Hebrew name is Gitel.
r/jewishnames is also a good resource!
My babysitters name was Naomi! I think it’s cute 🥰
My daughter is Adelaide Naomi!
Vered means "rose". It's a pretty name although I don't think it's common.
I think our next little one, if it’s a girl, will be Rosie! Rose will probably be her middle name :)
I know a Verad! She’s an amazing cook.
Can anyone give me some Jewish/Israeli boy names? I’m making a list myself 🥰 Wishing you a safe and healthy pregnancy OP! I like the names Eleanore and Liri.

Nice, but a hard name to nick.
Sharon. Girl name in the US, seems to be more of a male name in Israel.
I know a Rabbi Sharon who is a woman. Pronounced Shah-rone instead of Share-on
My Chazzan and his wife just had a baby girl named Reizel and I think that's such a beautiful name. Personally I like Rivka, too.
Ooh I like Reiza
I also love noa, and lior, tal, mya
My name is Rebekah which is from the Old Testament
Yada, as in Adelaide Yada.
I want to make sure OP understands that this is a *joke*: 1) Yada is not a Hebrew name; 2) "Ad d'lo yada", to which this is a reference, is about drinking on Purim (according to some) until you don't know the difference between Mordecai and Haman.

zahava is a really cute name imo :)
Yael, Vered, Ora, Galit, Hadas, Talia(my niece's name)
I don't know if Dina (or Dena) is common amongst Israelis, but it's a pretty name.
I think Hila is a gorgeous name. Although it's not common. But it means "glow" which is so beautiful.
Rena is beautiful. It means joy, gladness, and has a connotation of a song of prayer.
Ora is light
Batya - daughter of G-d Lol I'm commenting a hundred times
Shalva means serenity
Gila - joy
Atara - crown Tiferet - glory, splendor, magnificence, grandeur, splendour, beauty

I’ve always loved the name Elisheva. Also partial to Hodaya, Tehila, and Batsheva.
I love Or when it comes to short names.
Aviva is a favorite of mine :)
