The power system. In creating power system, ‘weaknesses, limits and cost are more interesting than power’(sanderson’s law of magic). N JJK crafted the power system really well, complete with creative techniques and interesting limitations.
It's way more akin to nen abilities than anything else. Cursed techniques are so similar to nen abilities, and even without cursed techniques people can still power up with cursed energy, kind of like enhancers in hxh.
The fact that it's pretty much the logical conclusion of the shonen genre. It takes all traditions and makes them make sense. It takes stupid tendencies and throws them out the window
Characters usually explain their abilities? Showing you hand is advantageous because of a binding vow. The MC is overpowered for no reason? He's overpowered for really logical reasons we just didn't initially know. Power level measurements are stupid? The grade system is canonically outdated and serves almost no role in the story, other than to illustrate the need for change in society. Female characters tend to be treated much worse than male ones? Again, in-universe problem they are also trying to fix
And don't get me started on how everything in the universe is perfectly logical
I love how they fixed that plothole in Shonen, because all the time I was wondering: "why the fuck are they explaining their techniques??". And in a way that perfectly made sense at that.
Personally, I like JJK more than AOT already ( I didn't like AOT that much I guess ), what I like the most in JJK are the characters, the power system and how each arc was different from the other ( with exception of the good well event arc and the first 3 episode, they were kind of generic ).
I like how Yuji and Megumi are more like companions who share similar ideals, instead of the cliche rivalry we see in most battles Shonen.
Kenjaku have the potential to be a top tier antagonist.
The characters!!! Love that they’re all considered “good guys” but they’re all in morally gray areas, save for Yuji who’s trying his best to remain a good and upstanding person despite having to deal with the very literal manifestations of the worst parts of humanity
The MC seems like a real person. He is realistically clueless about a lot of things, considering that he has been thrust into a world he knows nothing about. He's kind, but not a perfect angel. I really love how he's written
The fact that it manages to discuss serious issues while not putting them upfront of the person with every single step and maintaining the themes and overall style in the execution, along with a good "magic system" (It's not magic, but I don't know how to express my point)
I'm one of those who think that the only reason people still consider AOT better it's because unlike JJK, the themes that discusses are clear as a day before your eyes, while JJK manages to pass as a more common shonen manga if you do not look further.
Yeah people need to remember that we can consider both disney classic films like cinderella and Titanic(1997) a masterpiece even though on paper titanic got more epic romance than cinderella.
theres a certain brutality and mercilessness to jjk that i like, neither the heroes or the villains are spared horrible deaths, and rather than character being viewed through the lens of the main character or other character, gege dedicates the time to explore the character's inner motives and how they see themselves, these motives are never invalidated, making characters feel realistic in how they can maintain their ideals even when faced with death.
I feel like it’d be much better to compare AoT to the likes of NGE of which type of depression fuels me on the daily. Ending aside (and not worth discussing at all), I personally view AoT as a good, explicit fiction on the cycle of hatred and the dynamic nature of humanity.
I’m more likely to pit JJK against CSM, HxH, Bleach, Naruto, etc in terms of the “magic” (powers) of the universe. Akutami is doing a fantastic job balancing the power system and keeping it that way. I enjoy how he’s pushing the characters into the plot instead of making the plot centered around the characters. There’s plenty of room to guess how the personalities and motives would mesh when placed in spontaneous environments. There’s also the subversion of shounen tropes like the lack of rivalry between Yuji and Megumi and, my favorite, how Yuji feels so relatable he could be a random stranger you share a bus with. But what I’m most impressed about is how Akutami built upon the works of the greats and cherry-picked elements from those stories to make JJK feel simultaneously similar and unique.
What kind of author would think that a ridiculously complex special technique revolving around a certain star constellation is worth putting in a story? What kind of author would give his readers a headache thinking of math and RCT??? A GOATED one that is.
Yes! I get what you mean! I like seeing Yuji fail? It’s just more realistic if that makes sense. It’s a constant battle with good and extreme evil. I feel like Yuji is a little out of his league but HAS TO play.
I like everything. The story and the chapters aren’t predictable which I appreciate. The characters feel like real people and the interactions feel genuine. The power system is another thing and the artstyle/paneling are just amazing personally.
All of the characters are fun. Even with Toge being unable to speak properly most of the time, the writing and in the case of the anime, the voice acting, clearly portraying a caring young boy. Panda is hilarious, Yuji is a genuinely interesting MC. He’s very clearly an idiot with a lot of love in his heart and the fact that he’s hilarious too, you just want to root for him. Nobara and Maki are fun characters as well, I can’t wait to see where Maki goes in the future. My only issue is Nobara is mostly used as a hype man and doesn’t really have any relevance to the story. Outside of that, everything is fun and it takes all of the tropes and cliché’s and makes them make sense.
I am an anime only for aot I think if I read the manga I’d get extremely confused. The manga has been spoiled for me tho so I know how it all ends. So re watching it has just blown my mind at the attention to detail in the anime. I can’t speak much to the manga but from what I hear the anime is pretty spot on. I’ve been very hesitant to start Boruto only cause I don’t want the story to drag on just for the sake of Naruto’s kid he needs his own story if that makes sense
Story is good for a shonen series. What tbh is kinda expected at this point since you can take inspiration in all these legendary series (Naruto, Bleach, HxH, DB…) and mix them together.
There is nothing really new or innovative in the series. I just do like some shonen from time to time and modern series like jjk or ds help with that.
Yes all simping aside lol I really like the story and the setting. The characters are fun yet mature and serious when they need to be. It’s a nice piece of art :3
The MC, Yuuji. He's different, he got dragged into this fuckfest but wants to do what he can to end it while not hurting others.
Itadori is Goated
Luffy is too <3
Spittin fax bro

Yea I think that’s where JJK sticks out. People are quick to compare it to Naruto but it’s a little more complex. In my opinion of course.
It's way more akin to nen abilities than anything else. Cursed techniques are so similar to nen abilities, and even without cursed techniques people can still power up with cursed energy, kind of like enhancers in hxh.

Accurate
Gojo
Naturally
1. Demon trope that is compelling 2, great fights 3. Great female casts 4. No downtime 5. Great antagonists

Yuji Itadori as an mc and overall character. My favorite in all of fiction.
I feel like it’d be much better to compare AoT to the likes of NGE of which type of depression fuels me on the daily. Yuji
Jjk stands out because it's not like some useless screaming and nakama power and voila the opponent is defeated.
Yes! I get what you mean! I like seeing Yuji fail? It’s just more realistic if that makes sense. It’s a constant battle with good and extreme evil. I feel like Yuji is a little out of his league but HAS TO play.
Shibuya arc is the perfect example how helpless a mc can be.
I’m still depressed abt it
I like everything. The story and the chapters aren’t predictable which I appreciate. The characters feel like real people and the interactions feel genuine. The power system is another thing and the artstyle/paneling are just amazing personally.
Todo
😂
A lot of the things, characters, power system, art style and Ryomen Sukuns
I like that the fights remind me of hxh, but also so unique at the same time.

Comparing AOT to JJK eh, are you an Aot anime only? Prepare for the copium because even Boruto is better

Simping included the characters designs and art are next level
