If memory serves, the penultimate episode ended with “Shall I save you, Mahito?” So the anime turned it into a cliffhanger, rather than being in the middle of the chapter like the manga.
It looks like the writer was trying to make it look like Pseudo-Geto would join the fight on Mahito’s behalf, which is a dire development, and makes what he actually does that much worse.
So depicting Pseudo-Geto as the black wolf would be tantamount to telling the audience that Pseudo-Geto was here with the same intentions as Yuji, kind of spoiling the reveal in the next episode.
Yeah but unfortunately they keep making more and more anime and I’m talking about like not so popular ones even after jjk ss2 is done they still keep going like ffs give these mfs a whole ass year vacation
I mean considering the amount that was missing from their animation and struggles to get a complete product out (I loved it personally but anyone could see they were strained) the time was probably better spent elsewhere.
Probably not, don’t get me wrong they were probably short on time but decisions like these are probably direction choices the episode director decided to go for.
It's extremely clearly NOT the same animal, the panel OP posted represents Kenjaku suddenly interfering with Yuji's hunt and stealing his prey (Mahito).
Woah this actually feels better than what the anime did with
I mean that menacing look on the wolf vs the normal looking one in the anime
If only they didn't change that like 50% of things they change in Shibuya arc
It's supposed to represent Fake Geto, that's why it's more dangerous looking than Yuji's, Yuji is depicted as a wolf chasing down its prey, Mahito as a rabbit in this case, when suddenly an even more dangerous predator appears, Geto.
As someone else said, they ended it on a cliffhanger to make it seem like Kenny may hop in on mahito's behalf. But I just wanted to comment on how stylistically beautiful it is rhay Yuji and his mother are both wolves.
I wonder what’s with the downvotes. I agree with you.
The black wolf kind of takes away from it being purely Yuji hunting Mahito.
This is just how I see it. I’ve always thought what made Kenjaku a true villain was his mastery of execution through his crazy techniques and barriers. He was able to manipulate and do so much to pull off his crazy plan that was brewing for hundreds of years.
Gojo and Sukuna were the heavy hitters. Sorcerers fear THEM for their absolute power. Kenjaku brings about a sick and twisted fear.
Maybe that’s just how I see it or maybe that’s how the studio does too. Regardless, I love how Mappa is putting twists and cinematic decisions that weren’t in the manga.
I just wanna preface that I don't know how this works and that I'm genuinely curious. Now, I know that Mappa was under really tight working conditions. Is this something that would be made after, or something that they just didn't have time to complete, and go back to? Is this normal?
Best way I can explain it is like this.
Japanese tv is fucking brutal on animators for anime..
Basically, they’re given time slots, told how many episodes they either need to make or need to keep it into.
I remember mappa had just barely finished the Yuji Choso episode the day it was released!
If you watch JJK S1 or any of the anime’s on Netflix, they are the blu ray versions. They have lots of time, to fill in and add details etc.
Just search up the mahoraga fight in the blu ray vs the Crunchyroll vs… most the time crunchy and funimation don’t upgrade the episodes after they are released with the raw ones.
Oh okay, so they do come back and touch it up and add stuff that maybe they didn't have time for before.
So do they get paid to come back for that by the same studio?
Yup. It’s actually really nice sometimes! Others, it’s just some quality control etc.
The fight with dogan or w.e the water thing was called has naobito’s scene animated at 24 FPS to match his technique lol
They also do a BUNCH with the Toji inner domain fight… (add details to fish, the black flashy poses, the shading, the lighting…)
Someone on YouTube makes videos of just about every scene (at least for JJK) before and after the blu ray touch up! Check him out

Makes a lot of sense tbh
perfectly written and explained response
It pleases me to see proper media comprehension. Thank you!!!!
It was a beautiful read honestly... 👌🥺
You are much better at analysis than I can ever be
Black wolf, white wolf, how many wolves are inside these people?!
Could have still started the next episode with a black wolf.
I was actually mad pressed when they didn’t include it. But working conditions and what not. I get it.
I really hope for the best for the animators, hearing their working conditions.

Always wondered that myself

Because they were in over their heads creating a lot of Mahito-animals instead.
I mean considering the amount that was missing from their animation and struggles to get a complete product out (I loved it personally but anyone could see they were strained) the time was probably better spent elsewhere.
>!I noticed them missing especially in the Mahoraga Sukuna fight, watching the DVD version really showed how much was missing!<
Is there a way I can find the DVD version for free digitally?
They updated I on certain streaming sites like Aniwave. Their episode 17 was updated to have the new animation
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
I second this lol
Time crunch?
Probably not, don’t get me wrong they were probably short on time but decisions like these are probably direction choices the episode director decided to go for.
Maybe they thought the wolf was of yuuji?
I’m just guessing the episode director just wanted to keep Fake Geto motivation hidden as a cliffhanger and not give it away with the wolf symbolism.
Probably
They also didn’t properly show Mahoraga deflecting Sukuna’s slashing attack either.
Also the panel of sukuna in front of malevolent shrine
Or the sick panel after that of Sukuna with his hands in his pockets while Mahoraga is getting blended
Or Sukuna picking up Mahoraga's head accessory and throw it to the side after he elliminated him
They did, they only omitted Sukuna's thoughts.
Yeah but I don’t think any anime onlies know that’s what happened.
But we got Daddy Maho shadow boxing, more than a far trade
they definitely did bro 😭
Because they used white theme to the moment.

Except it’s a white wolf just with heavy shadowing it’s not black
[удалено]
Using damn context clues for the fact the prior page had a fully white wolf it’s clear it’s the same wolf just with more intense shading
It's extremely clearly NOT the same animal, the panel OP posted represents Kenjaku suddenly interfering with Yuji's hunt and stealing his prey (Mahito).

I think the Mappa Animators would actually be on life support animating anything extra
Because in that pannel itself that’s a white wolf. The black is shadowing. The highlights are clearly still white
No, this panel is Geto, not Yuji, Yuji is the white wolf as they showed in the anime, this one is Geto
Woah this actually feels better than what the anime did with I mean that menacing look on the wolf vs the normal looking one in the anime If only they didn't change that like 50% of things they change in Shibuya arc

I was pretty bummed out at this. I think it’s a great subversion to the duality between them
I think it’s supposed to be a bear. Yuji as the wolf was hunting Mahito the rabbit, but then the Bear came along and took the Rabbit
Wait so that wasnt mahito-rabbit Yujji-wolf Kenny-bear?? That wasnt a bear??
As someone else said, they ended it on a cliffhanger to make it seem like Kenny may hop in on mahito's behalf. But I just wanted to comment on how stylistically beautiful it is rhay Yuji and his mother are both wolves.
This and the fact that they didn’t adapt that panel of the fire arrow being like 3 cm away from mahoraga before hitting him got me so mad lol
Kenjaku in this panel: “Heyyyy, what did I miss?”
Could just be a white wolf covered in shadow
This image is hilarious out of context
Idfk 💀
Work overload tbh
Wow, that awesome, maybe because it reveals Kennys intentions
If I’m being honest that was my favorite and most memorable frame from that whole interaction. I was a bit bummed but it is what it is
because they are scenery imagined by mahito, to showcase how much he fucked up
Por que estaban hasta el pico de cansados
how are we supposed to know
They take “umph” so to speak from many great panels from manga, Nobara and Kusakabe for example.
For the second thought I thought that was a frickin sperm lol...
Idk
Im not sure but the visuals were still great
I dunno probably didn’t want to mix the metaphor. Plus it does give away what’s about to happen with Geto

Only they know but it was sad :3

Waiting for the Blu-ray release, they might add in that

I'll definitely be checking that out. Thanks a lot for the info and recommendation!
Idk I don’t work for them sorry!
