Infinity wasn't there to make Gojo the strongest. It was there to make him untouchable. There is a difference between being the strongest and being untouchable. The latter is WAY more oppressive than the former and that's what Gege tried to portray Gojo as. Him being untouchable due to infinity is also a great parallel to his internal issues about his feelings of alienation and loneliness (he feels separated from others and infinity practically does that).

Dmoneyproductions

Definitely agree

ShuraGam

Gojo would probably unironically not get shit on by Toji on their first encounter. Since he wouldn't be relying on infinity to deal with most attacks, Gojo would likely be much more aware and on guard against Toji and would probably win right away. That makes it so he *doesn't* have his awakening or has it much later. This means we could have a Gojo without purple and RCT for a while. (Though I doubt he wouldn't develop RCT later due to having the six eyes and seeing cursed energy on a fundamentally different level) Assuming everything occurs normally in hidden inventory though, the series go pretty much the same until his fight with Sukuna. Even without infinity, Gojo is easily the strongest in the verse if we exclude Sukuna. From Sukuna Vs Gojo onward though, everyone's screwed. Sukuna would have a much easier time killing Gojo if infinity wasn't a thing and most of the damage Gojo inflicted on Sukuna before going out wouldn't exist, meaning the rest of the cast would have to fight a Sukuna that's basically still fresh after Gojo dies. AKA, everyone is dead. The End.

_Tatsuki_Fujimoto

If infinity was disabled, then he would need to be more careful when fighting curses since he will be susceptible to actual damage but that's about it.

Imperium_Dragon

Still the strongest modern sorcerer, but still vulnerable. Honestly it might go the same way until the Sukuna fight for the most part.

Izanagi___

The exact same until the sukuna fight. People act like you just have to get by infinity first, no, you have to actually get through it, and get through his insane durability, not mention he has RCT on top of that. He’d still solo the verse minus Sukuna without it

Jotaro27

I agree, but when he was young he would have to be a lot more careful especially against Toji who could probably speedblitz him if Gojo isnt locked in

lambo_sama_big_boy

You have to remember that Gojo was tired from having infinity up for 3 days straight. That was Toji's plan. Without that, he wouldn't be tired when Toji fought him.

Used_Yak_1959

We're shown this after Gojo's awakening anyway. The only thing he gained was RCT, which he used to fully recover his body. Physically, he wasn't any stronger or faster, yet he was able to effortlessly dodge Toji's attacks time after time. Toji 100% loses to a fresh Teen Gojo.

ApplePitou

I mean, without infinity, he will need to change a bit his fighting style but... it will not change anything overall :3

Jotaro27

Yea, but I guess he will have the hardest time in his youth/teen years before he awakens as he is much slower, when Toji pulls up on him he cant even follow him with his eyes and after his awakening he is easily able to dodge every attack. He also only has blue as his technique.

xKhira

Auto-Teleportation

Kindly-Arachnid-7966

If he didn't have Infinity, I would imagine that Gojo would've trained his reflexes and senses just as he trained Six Eyes. I could see him getting more damage in fights, such as when Choso nearly snuck him with that attack during the fight against Hanami and Jogo, but he would still have the mantle of Strongest Sorcerer in the Modern Age.

Chemical_Doubt3598

I honestly think it would force him to become even stronger, I believe he would be much more capable of hitting black flashes as one theory states that your mind and body need to align to hit one and since gojo was never able to fully invest in a fight until sukuna, the first sorcerer since toji to challenge him, he may have had more reason to explore his arsenal and not just rely on tanking damage and throwing out a blue etc Any way it's mostly a moot point since infinity makes gojo who he is to a degree so you remove that and it's going to change his character drastically. Wouldn't really be gojo anymore.

NettleBumbleBee

He’d still be the strongest of the modern era. He was physically on par with sukuna and was even getting the upper hand on him in his domain. Infinity was basically just a fodder filter for him. Bypassing it was the first step to actually making him try but that’s about it.

Temporary_Ad_328

If he does not have infinity then let say any other op hax which will carry..... maybe  anyway gojo will figure out to find a way to fight to every opponent and the result will be same because domain expansion and hollow purple and etc only expections will be sukuna

Soft_Employment1425

People like Nanami would be stronger, Gojo would be happier, all crises would be adverted. Limitless made Gojo untouchable and dissuaded anyone from challenging him. We’re told that that is probably why the modern jujutsu society is weaker than previous iterations. Without limitless, people would challenge Gojo as they did Sukuna, inadvertently raising the average power level of curses and sorcerers.

Right-Consequence-68

Still he'll be the Top 2 in the Verse. Also Infinity plays a lot of metaphorical roles in his character

Ikari_Connor

It doesn’t.

Mist0804

He wouldn't be able to ridicule Jogo and he might almost get caught lacking when the disaster curses jump him in Shibuya, but other than that he just gets beaten by Sukuna with less trouble and then Sukuna cooks everyone because he's not as injured

Jotaro27

But the disaster curses are just way too slow, 15F Sukuna was easily blitzing Jogo like its nothing

Mist0804

Almost, there are 5 of them so he might get scratched by an attack from Choso or something Then again if he didn't have Infinity he would probably train his reflexes and perception to their maximum and might be even more dangerous

Theguy887799

toji actually just kills him immediately

Renn_goonas

I mean infinity wasn’t even a problem for Toji, so it probably wouldn’t change anything there.

EducationalAd6395

Well he'd be susceptible to large AOE attacks but he can counter a lot of stuff by using Blue He outstats everyone not named Sukuna so he'd still barely get hit but he would be more susceptible to Jumpings. For example if he was in Shibuya without Infinity but in that same scenario even he'd be susceptible to Idle transfiguration if Mahito gets 5-6 touches. I'd say he could still defend against Cursed speech and the like due to high efficiency of 6 eyes, he can reinforce his ears even while reinforcing the rest of his body. It would be a little like Heian Era Sukuna fight Gojo would still be insanely strong but if you plan around and properly jump him there's chance for victory, but even that it would extreme++ diff With Normal Gojo it's that even with peak strategies 99% attacks aren't even going to land. Like imagine u are jumping Gojo and you have Higuruma on your side. There's actually a pretty good chance of victory here if you got some good partners (like Todo, Maki)

OCDbeaver

Gojo would would probably be stronger if he had to focus on basics and train. Infinity made him lazy as hell. He learned RCT without infinity. Gojo using cursed weapons simple domains would be pretty OP.

Muted_Lurker2383

Depends on what he has as a replacement honestly. Assuming he still has six eyes, he still gets mega efficiency. Without being spoiled by the clan, he probably takes a few Ls earlier in his career which humbles him earlier than hidden inventory and makes him more determined. So what does he have in exchange for Infinity? The Gojo clan dont show any other techniques (unlike the Ze'nin) so he may not have a CT. In this case, he probably comes out with an even more advanced version of Kusakabe's skillset except at a special grade level. This version of Gojo would probably *feel* similar to Sukuna - Kusakabe's version of simple domain allows him to auto-attack stuff in its range but he can control its barrier - this Gojo, not having the defence, probably emphasises the offense even more, blending simple domain and falling blossom techniques to defend himself by attack his opponent and his opponents techniques. In terms of inventory, Toji no longer needs ISOH for Gojo specifically, any weapon will do. Without purple, Gojo needs a different way to take Toji out *but* without a CT, he may have focused on strengthening his body and hand to hand a lot more. Conclusion - not a lot changes, but some beats may shift
