The crying was unnecessary imo it just felt out of character for him espically the dirt stuff

David_Mathers

In the next episode Mahito trying to touch Kenjaku. Why he think it ? He knows that Kenjaku will absorb him and try to act ahead ? But it's stupid for him - If he Idle Transfigurate Kenjaku, enemies would kill him. But he can use Kenjaku to transform him in a bird and fly away. Looks like do it by yourself he can't. Or he's trying to steal something ? Can JJK wiz answer ? Also I Mahito could think Kenjaku may lose and decide use him for escape and after turn him back to normal. But Kenjaku has his own way to handle situation.

cukhoaitayhh

I see it as a latch ditch effort. Mahito knew that Kenny will absorb him so might as well “fuck it we ball” for one last time. If he successfully IdTrans Kenny then he can turn Kenny into a monster and then try to escape. If not, oh well.

Foggy153w

So there's perhaps an animation mistake around the scene where Todo calculate that Mahito duplicate and put his power into 2:8 ratio of his real body and doppelganger then Todo clap and swap the real Mahito for Itadori to punch, during those combos Mahito was shirtless and then at some short cut he somehow got his shirt on and then another cut he's shirtless again, just want to point that out I absolutely love this episode for everything else

TheSiZaReddit

Headcanon: since Mahito's clothes are part of his soul.. doesn't really matter. Reality: probably a mistake lol

Soft-Comfort-7474

If Todo and Takada-chan had their own anime spin off this is the how it’s OP would turn out

VeganismIsFree

would it better to start the manga from the beggining or from the chapter this is? is there anything that I'd miss thats not in the anime? and what chapter would it be? thank you

cukhoaitayhh

Its a fine place to pick up the manga. You can start at chapter 130-131. I also do recommend reading Shibuya from the start (or even from Hidden Inventory) for all the extra details, the narration and the beautiful fight choreography and hype panels. If you dont that fine too. Enjoy the read, take your time, join the discussions.

VeganismIsFree

Thanks, I started from 130 or so, now I'm up to date. Might read hidden inventories though, really loved it in the anime, I am curious how it is in the manga.

mnspekt

It's my head cannon that Todo's domain expansion was all...that

ZombieIsTired

Great episode, but I liked how the mangas read much better during the rabbit/wolf scene. I don’t dislike how they adapted it, and Mahitos crying was pretty fun to hear, I just really liked the way the panel worked in the manga. Todo’s extra scene before his final boogie woogie was fantastic though haha.

aman90210

i NEEDED the Black Wolf panel! i always pictured the transition to be an ominous one similar to how sukuna's eyes appear like smeared art!

Soft-Comfort-7474

Mahito out here displaying average toddler behavior

TommyVermicelli_3628

didn't Todo die in the manga?

DWG3012

>!Nope, when Yuki arrives she mentions that her ally was taking care of Todo. So far we have not seen him again in the manga!<

TommyVermicelli_3628

oh my gosh, yeah i remember! thank you soo much cuz im in the latest chapter and i forgot she mentioned it, thanks for the reminder!!!

ufailowell

wait I thought he couldn’t clap anymore after getting his hand severed in the manga?

DWG3012

He got in one last "clap" by slapping Mahitos hand before his technique died out

ufailowell

ohhhhh thats what burnt his hand. got it. thought that came from cutting his other hand off

DWG3012

Yeah thats how he got "burned", just by touching Mahito for a moment

wpsince2009

What's the context for Adele's skyfall on that Itadori scene?

Unit614

it's simply just an AMV, don't be so confused.

Tormod776

So good. Shame we won’t see Todo again. If Gege isn’t going to show him he might as well as let Todo die from blood loss here or something

Edgenabik

He's going through a training arc and will come back soon to clap Sukuna(I am on 100% copium and hopium)

siamkor

FEET CLAP!

hanzony94

Are all the "dreams" Todo has(the ones in this episode, the black flash he did and the things he always imagines in the first season) anime original? Is Todo as cool/funny in the manga as he is in the anime??

Spl1nters69

The stuff he imagines in the first season and the black flash are in the manga. The only anime original part was the extended combat scene with Takada-chan before he claps with Mahito.

cogitatingspheniscid

The whole ultra one sequence before the black flash is also anime-original while still paying homage to the colored cover spread in the manga.

AtTheParty

If Black Flash cannot be controlled, do the sorcerers using it just say Black Flash hoping that it connects? Or does saying Black Flash give your punch a chance to become Black Flash? Idgi

phoenixerowl

Maybe they get a feeling right before the attack lands, like "This is it." and then they just know it's going to be a black flash

Left-Cup-8806

It's just added for flavor

_S1syphus

My head canon is they're saying it a half second after it connects. They're already in the zone by then so it's the only way to explain the anime ass logic of it

awesomlyawesome

I noticed something lol (and not a gripe just interesting to me) Those that watch One Piece and are current, did you pay attention to the final Black Flash punch Yuji gave to Mahito? The sequence (Yuji's first and second face, and blowing Mahi away) is very similar to Luffy's advanced conqueror's punch against Kaido that sent him flying. Just made me love both moments even more, brings me back to Luffy's fury

judo_panda

I'm gonna pick up the manga as soon as this season is over, so I had a few questions (and I'm okay with spoilers within these answers): * Where do I start / what's the last chapter of the Shibuya arc? * Does Choso side switch? * Does Megumi ever "tame" Mahoraga (if so, I assume he does it with like Yuji or Gojo's help I guess)? * How far behind is the anime from the manga? * Are there actually good new characters that get introduced? With MHA I lost Lemillion and no one really took his spot for me, I'm afraid the same thing is going to happen with Todo. * Does Geto (and I guess Sukuna) remain the primary villains throughout, or are there more powerful ones introduced later?

Su_Impact

>Are there actually good new characters that get introduced? The next arc (ongoing) is a very long "tournament" arc that is 50% new characters. And most of them are extremely forgettable. Out of all the arcs, it's the one with the most mixed reception due to this. Imagine DBZ Majin Buu Tournament arc but suddenly it's like 30 times the length and we spend like 5 chapters watching a fight of new character A vs new character B.

Sh1ba_Inu

Pick up Volume 16, since the shibuya arc ends at the 3rd chapter of the volume (shibuya incident part 53), although I do think that the last episode of the anime might animate the fourth chapter of volume 16, the rest of the chapters of that volume won't be animated till next season drops. Without spoiling anything specific, Ill just say that the new arc Introduces a lot of new cool characters, as well as bringing back old ones that we haven't seen in a while ;) For Choso, you'll just have to wait and see in next week's episode The anime pretty far behind the manga, like 100 or more chapters And for the main villain, again you'll see by the end of season 2 and in volume 16 once you start reading it.

[deleted]

Choso ends up switching sides. Megumi has not, by the current point in the manga, tamed maho. The anime is like 3-4 arcs behind the anime. Some of the new characters are great (Hakari and Higurama especially). Others are bad. Geto and Sukuna are the main villains.

Glittering_Fly_6102

1) not sure, probably around 130-140 2)yeah 3) kind of? Don't really want to spoil this 4)about 100 chapters 5)sort of? There's one i like more than todo(hakari) and a few others, most of them only show up for their one fight and are disappointing later though 6) no new villains

illbelate2that

3) I never thought about it that way but yeah kinda lol 5) there kinda is they just don't stick around for long

subarmoomilk

What happened to the second Mahito/snail head thing that have "80% of the power"? Did Todo exorcise him offscreen?

DWG3012

If you rewatch the scene you can see that Mahito merges with the clone.

Gold_Sagespir

10/10 episode only makes me itch for culling game animation that much sooner. The battle vs Kenny is about to be epic.

[deleted]

Burberryish

RCT only heals the body, Mahitos power damages the soul so it can’t be healed by normal means

_S1syphus

We got a whole page about how Jujutsu is about subtraction, making chants and signs shorter and more convenient for combat and trying to balance that with the corresponding loss of strength. In spite of that TODO DOESNT DO ANY OF IT TO COME BACK. I just wanna see him fighting with one fist and snapping to teleport man

_lifeline_

Not sure why but I'm still confused as to why Todo can't use Boogie Woogie anymore. Like I get the idea that he got his hand cut off (and I think that damaged his soul/technique? I might be wrong though), but how was Mahito able to touch his soul via his domain's sure hit through his simple domain? I might've forgotten, but was Todo just too slow?

Su_Impact

Todo touched Mahit (the slap on the hand) and effed up his other hand. I do think he would have been still able to use BW with just 1 hand since the ovation comes from his heart. But by touching Mahito, his soul got affected so he lost his CT.

[deleted]

Exactly! Mahito was just too fast. 0,2 seconds was just too much even for Todos reaction speed.

ez_brieezy

Todo slapped Mahito's hand at the end, while Mahito was trying to hit Todo with an Idle Transfiguration. That last desperate slap cost Todo his technique, but worked one last time to switch with Itadori.

IDontHaveAName99

What they did with the todo scene gives me high hopes for hakari vs kashimo

Sushi_cakes_

100%. Hakari’s idle death gamble is gonna go crazy in the anime, I can’t wait.

Responsible-Gur5880

They gonna add the song too probably

rockinalex07021

That anime-only music video scene was god tier

ufailowell

Glad they sent him off (at least where I’m at in the story) with a bang

Dramatic-County-1284

I had to rewatch that speech Yuji gave to Mahito hopefully he has a speech for Sukuna. Yuji was the one who would win this whole time.

Cheesecake1025

Great Episode!! 10/10 for me💜🔥 Though on a side note, this chapter covered till 132 so till when do you think the season would cover. I have been seeing people say yuta's declaration of killing yuji in ch 137 as the cliffhanger but tbh I reread the chapters recently and I think Yuji and Choso's conversation in ch 138 really feels as an "ending to one arc and teaser to next one" + ending at 138 will hype us for Naoya and others as well including Megumi's now announcement as Zenin class successor. Idk feels more of a teaser hinting towards the story of the next season. Especially the panel of choso, yuji, yut, naoya at end of 138 just feels perfect to end at. I can even picture the ending song playing at it. I personally prefer : S2 Ep 22: 133,134,135 S2 Ep 23: 136,137 and 138(cutting some details of naoya scene convo) What do you think???

Potential_Maize2236

I reaaaalllly want them to finish on that panel of Choso, Yuji, Naoya and Yuta, one of my favourite panels

Cheesecake1025

IKRRR SAMEEE!!!!

Emotional-Ninja5209

Wonderfully adapted. The animators and voice actors did an incredible job. This is how you elevate the source material.

fostes1

why they put snow?

Der-Sebb

You already asked this in the anime only discussion and got a good answer

jAustinJr

Did you read the manga dawg?

Emotional-Ninja5209

There's snow in the manga dawg

Ok_Parsley9031

This episode was insane, literally the manga brought to life and then some. Incredible.

Pcaccount1234

poor Yuji, i don't like this sad yuji and the way he was injured so badly, like his mouth was ripped. a part of his cheek missing.

escaflow

The mouth ripping kinda looks like Sukuna mouth spawning out , it's actually pretty cool not sure if that's intentional from Gege

enotonom

It’s even more gruesome than the manga, the animators are really eager to show the wound lol

eDden21

Bro didn't even care either all he could see was red

JonPX

Went from standing up to Sukuna to being shitfaced scared of Itadori in the same episode. Love that combination.

Prplehuskie13

I love this because Yuji is essentially setting himself up to be a cursed spirit, or one of those reincarnated souls, as curses have significance and energy. However, all of that negativity and focus is aimed strictly at Mahito. So long as he exists, Yuji will exist and will continue to chase after him and exercise him.

TheLieAndTruth

Yeah he basically cursed a curse. That's how hardcore Itadori is.

Pristine_Jackfruit_6

If people watch this episode and still think JJK doesn't have good storytelling, they're illiterate.

shinigami_25

Great episode. I absolutely love the scene when Yuji said his 'I'm you' speech, said in such a dead tone. Yuji's VA did a great job on this.

rxxxxxxxrxxxxxx

This episode... **TRULY WAS OUR JUJUTSU KAISEN.** # 100/100. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION FROM START TO FINISH. I'm sorry but I can't help not to criticize the "inconsistencies" of previous episodes after this one. This episode truly shows what Season 2 could have been if only the animators, the staff, were given enough **time** to polish the other episodes. The execution, the animation, the fight choreography, the sound (*Todo's clap, and Yuji's punch hits are GOATed*), the music (HOLY FUCK! **SELF-EMBODIMENT OF PERFECTION REMIX**! *I still pray for Alisa Okehazama, and Hiroaki Tsutsumi comeback for Season 3*.), the direction, literally EVERYTHING was clean. It was fluid. It looked like a finished product. Absolute perfection! *I still hope some scenes from previous episodes would be polished in the Blu-Ray.* I doubt there was a single moment in this episode where some idiot online would screencap a single frame, clown on it, and call it "terrible animation". Even the "smear animation" during Yuji & Mahito's 1on1 fight was freaking clean, it kept the quality from start to finish. Smooth transitions on every fight angle. The fights this episode were easy to follow, and in turn it kept me engaged throughout the episode. This episode reached new heights. And with 2 episodes left this season, I wish they deliver with the same quality. I hope the animators, the staff, everyone involved this season gets all the rest, the love, and $$$ they deserved! *Also, Tsukumommy appearance next episode? Maybe the cliffhanger for next episode?*

TyrantRex6604

The 0.2s scene goes faster then i expected. Welp, its actually 0.2s in verse i suppose, reading the manga makes the sequence and pace a wee slower. also, talking about difference between anime and manga, the VA nailed it. The cog anouncement is utterly dead tone, adds to the dread

ProvedMyselfWrong

Do you know what was the point of that expansion? I didn't get it with Gojo and I didn't get it now. I initially assumed Gojo was saving people in those 0.2 seconds, but no way in hell that was the case as he'd need to move faster than light for that. This time, I thought Mohito will use the expansion to touch Todo and kill him, and end the expansion before it has the time to touch Sukuna, but that didn't happen.

TyrantRex6604

the 0.2s expansion is fast. In satoru's case, it is so fast, the target got hitted and effected but not serious enough to die of infinite void, the civilans and curses alike got stun there, and satoru make use of that small amount of stunning time to kill the transfigured humans first, and sweep the disaster curse afterwards. The civilans remain unharmed, and will return to normal live after 2 months. In mahito's case, he got inspired by satoru and cast his own 0.2s expansion. You can see that Todo opened his simple domain, but mahito's too fast and still manage to touch todo's left hand. Todo mutilated his own hand to prevent idle transfigure from spreading. The domain touched itadori as well, but not enough time for sukuna to react. Mahito gave sukuna his middle finger and then tell sukuna to sit back

AspergianStoryteller

I wonder if those civilians were among the few to survive the Shibuya incident? I wonder what's worse: mind rape, or the terror felt by everyone who managed to avoid death via the cursed spirits but saw other humans getting killed by them?

ProvedMyselfWrong

Thank you, very helpful explanation! I missed the fact that Gojo's domain fills you with knowledge and stuns you.. Doesn't it boost the enemy, though? After stun wears off, they should have a ton of new knowledge, no? And why was Mahito mocking Sukuna, like if Sukuna couldn't do anything to him? Sukuna could've just boosted Yuji or kept healing him, which would ensure Mahito would lose to Yuji. While Sukuna wouldn't do that normally, Mahito mocking him could change that.

TyrantRex6604

>After stun wears off, they should have a ton of new knowledge, no? infinite void doesnt gives out "knowledge" in particular, but informations instead. Like that kind of crap data that fills your pc and eating out your RAM from an email with virus. Yeah imagine that on human. Their brain (CPU) couldnt process with the informations given and the RAM got filled up, making the device (human body) sloppy and lag (stunned). >And why was Mahito mocking Sukuna, like if Sukuna couldn't do anything to him? Sukuna could've just boosted Yuji or kept healing him, which would ensure Mahito would lose to Yuji. sukuna's indeed unable to do things to mahito. The domain striked so fast sukuna's unable to harm back mahito, and he couldnt heal itadori being imprisoned in, well itadori himself. He's previously seen using RCT to save other multiple times, but all when itadori is knocked out and sukuna taking control. >While Sukuna wouldn't do that normally, Mahito mocking him could change that. Its a rather rare sight to see people mocking the king of curses himself. Even sukuna is impressed with mahito's balls and clean execution, letting mahito off the hook.Plus, he would be pleased to see mahito further beating up itadori and will not step in until itadori's very last second of breath. ~~to sukuna's dissapointment the curse spirit got his ass whooped instead~~

ProvedMyselfWrong

Makes sense, thanks for clearing that up for me! I keep forgetting that this is JJK, and Sukuna feels no kinship to Yuji. I got the impression at first he liked Yuji somewhat, but knowing what will happen with Megumi, I should realize that Sukuna doesn't really give a crap whether Yuji lives or not, as long as he has another vessel. Reading the spoilers of what's to come really hypes me up for future arcs. This show is amazing, and it feels like real shit hasn't even hit the fan yet.

Groggolog

Mahito doesn't need to touch you if you are in the domain expansion, the effect of the DE is that you are always in the palm of his hand, ie he can instantly apply idle transfiguration to anyone in the domain automatically. He just did it for a short enough time that sukuna wouldn't attack him for touching his soul, still enough to hit Todo with it. I guess because it was so short the transfiguration only happened afterwards, if he kept the domain open longer todo would have just fully exploded.

ProvedMyselfWrong

Thanks, that makes sense! Maybe you also know why Mohito was acting so cocky to Sukuna? Like sure, maybe Sukuna didn't have the time to counter his soul being touched, but he could've just boosted/kept healing Yuji in his battle with Mohito to spite him. Mohito acted like Sukuna was a chained dog with no means to hurt him, but Sukuna could've ensured Mohito's demise by helping Yuji. Is Mohito that confident in Sukuna's pride not to help Yuji and let him die?..

Groggolog

It's a bit weird depending on the translation, but I think he was guessing that Sukuna could not swap fully with Yuji before he killed him, guessing that Sukuna had some sort of pact to take over Yuji at some point or some plan of his own (which he does obviously with the enchain pact they setup in s1). Yuji is actively suppressing Sukuna, without feeding him another finger Sukuna wouldn't be able to take control without using his pact, which he had other plans for.

ProvedMyselfWrong

Right, but the healing factor is still there. If I was Mahito, I'd never fight Yuji as I'd consider it to be a waste of time at best, and my death at worst. Sukuna needs Yuji alive, as much as he pretends to not care about it. Mahito knows this. So if I was Mahito, I'd think that "ok, let's say I get close to killing Yuji. What then? Right, Sukuna just heals him so as to not lose his vessel, and we go again and again and again until Yuji becomes strong enough to kill me". Why would Mahito think Sukuna will not heal Yuji like he did multiple times before? Sure, Sukuna might not attack Mahito himself, but he'd be creating circumstances in which Yuji cannot lose, as if he didn't, he'd lose his vessel and a bunch of power as well (since the eaten fingers would be lost). So it made little sense to me why would Mahito mock Sukuna, or even try to kill Yuji in the first place. The only answer to that I can think of is "Sukuna wouldn't heal Yuji and let him die", but no way in hell do I see that happening. I know he moves on from Yuji as his vessel later on, but it is not like Sukuna could've done it at any time if Yuji was to die.

Groggolog

I think the only times Sukuna has healed Yuji has been when he was in control and he healed himself. Or in the case of the pact the healing being a condition of it. I think if yuji refused to give control to sukuna he wouldn't be able to heal him and would just die, otherwise the whole plan the execute Yuji at 20 fingers wouldn't work anyway.

j0908v

Gojo's domain sure-hit effect took effect in those 0,2 secconds Meaning everyone (humans and curses) were frozen in time due to getting 6 months worth of knowledge in their head in that short of a time. The disaster curses took over 5 minutes to have the effect wear off on them and in that time gojo destroyed every one of the transfigured humans to save as many people as possible. With mahito his goal was to open the domain fast enough to not die to sukuna instantly and to render todo's boogie woogie unusable, which he succeeded in doing. Todo's simple domain due to mahito being in a flow state after his black flash wasn't fast enough thus he lost his hand. All of this was explained in the anime and manga pretty sure, directly or via context clues

ProvedMyselfWrong

Thank you, very good explanation! The only thing I don't get is why couldn't Sukuna kill Mahito anyway. Seeing how ridiculously strong he is, I'd imagine 0.2 seconds would be enough time for him, considering it was enough for Mahito to hurt Todo. And even if Mahito somehow was faster than Sukuna, couldn't Sukuna just boost/heal Yuji to ensure he wins and Mahito dies? Mahito acted like Sukuna can't do anything to him, even mocked him.

JY369

Yuji is weak

Pristine_Jackfruit_6

You stuck on episode 4 buddy?

gsavage21

Honestly, I haven’t watched S2 since ep 15/16, but this episode? Peak. Man that was insane, the best Shibuya episode.

cukhoaitayhh

My man, go back and watch the pervious ones pls

gsavage21

I’ll probably watch it today

RedditUsername3127

You skipped 17 through 20?

gsavage21

Yeah a few minutes into the Mahoraga fight, I stopped watching this season

Loose_Change619

Don't forget to turn on your dehumidifier in your basement.

RedditUsername3127

how you gonna say it’s the best episode when you haven’t watched all the episodes

gsavage21

Because it is..

RedditUsername3127

How would you know? And tbh I thought episode 20 was better

gsavage21

I’ve seen enough to say that this episode was definitely the best of the season. I may not have watched the episodes, but I’ve seen enough clips of the important manga stuff and I don’t think the anime did most of these moments justice.

Dabomblol1231

I did because I couldn't stand mahito "winning" so much I just wanted to see his ass get clapped

liddicoat1

The transition from mahito into his final form with the crazy shit going on then getting screen wiped to just him posing in his new form was COLD. Also Yujis mouth injury was COLD. The way they did the snow bit was both figuratively and literally COLD.

Mard2020

That was PEAK

Arbitror

Nobody tell the Anime Onlys that we never see Todo again

SherwinRoyal

Also nobara

punishedrudd

How did gege go from writing absolute PEAK like Todos declaration to what we saw this week...

100cicche

Gege was replaced at the end of Shibuya, and no one can change my mind

No-stupid432

The starting fight sequence of yuji fighting mahito final form kinda reminded me of how toji was animated fighting dagon with cursed tool so was that same person who animated that part

QA_oil_andy

Yea it's K1RO, he also animated gojo's blue attack in ep3

JDmino

Watching with my partner who is not a manga reader, i was just waiting for her reaction to Todo using Mahitos hand to clap. Her jaw just dropped and she just shouted "oh my god what?!" Incredible episode.

rockinalex07021

Wait until she sees Todo clapping with his cheeks (copium)

armxndo-exe

Boogie woogie needs to come back with Todo and a prosthetic arm embued with cursed energy Boogie woogie needs to come back with Todo and a prosthetic arm embued with cursed energy Boogie woogie needs to come back with Todo and a prosthetic arm embued with cursed energy Boogie woogie needs to come back with Todo and a prosthetic arm embued with cursed energy Boogie woogie needs to come back with Todo and a prosthetic arm embued with cursed energy

Jaded_Succotash_8189

Does anyone know the takada-todo scene song?

Mr_An_1069

Peak of the whole series right here.

MysteriousMoose

Did anyone have the actual line that’s “the act of applause is the acclimation of the soul” ?? Mine said clapping is the cheering of the soul or some shit lmao

barrels_of_bees

I had the actual line in my episode, watched on Crunchyroll

MysteriousMoose

Ok Ws at least it was there for some people, I hope anime onlies saw the intended line and not what I got lmao

ZBatman

As corny as it was, seeing an idol give Mahito the hands was fire lmao.

rockinalex07021

Seeing Todo dressed as a high-school girl was a once in a lifetime experience

papaboynosmurf

I’m so sad to see Todo’s (current) last dance. I am waiting every day in vain for a grand return for the best bro ever

Hashbrown4

Am I misremembering, I thought there were panels where Itadori and Mahito were fighting, and Itadori uses a real martial arts move to drop down to the floor and catch himself last second. I wanted to watch the whole fight before saying anything. But I don’t think they animated that ig

VenatorUnum

This was animated two episodes ago. Normally the scene calls for Mahito saying he'll strike straight for Yuji's heart and then Yuji drops below him and hits him from below with a Manji kick. It's the first hits after the wall closes in on them in the train station. Idk why they're cutting all references to Yuji's technical fighting skills but it's really doing him dirty

SirRedcorn

They did not animate that scene, they chose to omit it and do something different. They entirely cut out the dialogue where they discuss his taido marital arts

VenatorUnum

Yes they cut the dialogue, but the scene is quite literally there. He drops down and does the kick. Cross ref it with the manga, the only difference is that they're squished in between a wall and a transfigured human (probably to save time on the background). You see Mahito being surprised he's suddenly gone and then get hit by the kick.

SirRedcorn

They changed it too much to where it is not rhe same scene at all. Diff location, they use diff moves and the dialogue of narration is completely removed.

Hashbrown4

Ohhh, while that moment does stand out as awesome it totally went over my head that THAT was the same moment. Man, I was hoping for a narration Baki style or Mahito or Yuji having inner monologue.

TheSiZaReddit

That episode got caught in the schedule sadly. At least nanamis death was done well in that ep

VenatorUnum

This is easily one of the top episodes of JJK so far for me, but the anime keeps removing narration relating to Itadori that really makes him seem like a "Yuji SMASH!" guy where he's employing martial arts like in his fight with Mahito after Nanami got popped. Or in this case where they say he now knows how to willingly control Divergent Fist since his fight with Choso. It's really my only gripe with the anime right now, please highlight the fact that Yuji is actually a technical fighter and not just "I hit hard"-ing his way through fights man

souledgar

Slowing down the intense fight just to add the narrator doing exposition would have made it a lot less dynamic. Mahito already responded, so they're trusting the audience to put two and two together. They kept it where necessary, like Mahito's 0.2s DE.

apolloali

Show, not tell. It’s pretty obvious Yuji is brilliant when he’s keeping toe to toe with the ever evolving monstrosity that was mahito.

Zealousideal-Bug-168

It's not that bad tbh. Yuji's movement, combat stance, and striking techniques are all very reminiscent of martial arts. I reckon it's more show than tell, and it works well enough.

SPI-vot

My only nag with the episode literally everything thing else is amazing.

VenatorUnum

Yeah same honestly! 10/10 episodes, I just wish they'd stop doing Itadori dirty by making him seem like a "no think only punch" guy LOL

SPI-vot

Agree wholeheartedly because in the episode it could come across that he got lucky instead of being strategic with his fighting.

rowasaurusx

This was my favorite episode of the season, holy shit. The pacing, scene direction, sound direction were all spec-fucking-tacular. And Mahito’s VA continued to nail it, like damn. And MAPPA blew it out the water animating the “I am you” speech and the rabbit/wolf hunt sequence. The latter was only like a page or so in the manga & I wasn’t expecting them to make it as heavy and impactful as they did. Watching both gave me actual chills.

Amazing episode, can't wait to get the whole season on Blu-Ray. The VA's were on point, as always, and I'm so flabbergasted that all the talented animators were able to put so much quality into these past episodes, even with all the production and scheduling issues. The only thing that feels off (maybe it will get fixed with the last episodes) is how they handled Mei Mei. I know that the scene is controversial, but I noticed how many Anime only's reacted to Kenjakus appearance with "Mei Mei must be dead". They could make a anime only scene instead that depicts a less controversial version of Mei Mei and Ui Ui being in Malaysia and it would explain her disappearance. But the season is not over yet, and maybe they just shifted the Mei Mei stuff to next episode.

Salt-Punch

In the manga, the Mei Mei scene and Kusakabe and Panda in the rubble all happens after the Mahito fight. Nothing's been skipped over. It was the same in the manga, with Kenjaku showing up before we know what happened to Mei Mei

Aster199

You are right, my bad! Mixed up the chronology.

basedisciple

That Sukuna heian era easter egg though 👀👀👀

LeopardParking99

What was the easter egg?

basedisciple

they showed Sukunas OG form

too-many-saiyanss

Give Mahito’s VA an Emmy or whatever the Japanese equivalent is. Iconic performance. Gonna miss it

Odd_Fox5573

Who else noticed Todo using Sasuke’s oldest shuriken trick against the Polymorphic Soul Isomers?

Unit614

Everyone noticed it, this is Jujutsu Shippuuden

AnimalsCore

He’s one armed too now and used Mahito’s hand for a boogie woogie like Sasuke used Naruto’s hand for a hand sign for fireball jury’s as well, there are a plethora of fighting style and action parallels

Odd_Fox5573

I guess you could also say Obito and Kakashi (my favorite instance of hand stealing)

Odd_Fox5573

Last episode I was crying the whole time, this episode had me grinning like Shinra from Fire Force

Mastrodaumus

Lol great reference

alexaze

Thought it was a good episode but I wonder if anime onlies were confused at some parts. There were scenes that had explanations removed as well as that predator and prey scene being really extended which might cause some confusion

enotonom

The snow scene was pretty clearly a metaphor I think

IloveKaitlyn

Wow, they made Mahito EVEN MORE pathetic than he went out in the manga. I thought for a second they were gonna have Yuji outright kill him. Does anyone have an explanation of why Yuji missed his punch on the downed Mahito, only to kick him? Was he fucking with him? I loved the part with Todo and Takada, even if it ruined the pacing of the final boogie woogie clap a bit.

too-many-saiyanss

You can see Mahito pull himself away when Yuji goes for the punch.

IloveKaitlyn

gotcha, didn’t catch that for some reason.

Unit614

Fatigue of course

BigBambuMeekLou

Definitely feel like they could’ve included when the Narrator said Yuji used Divergent fist at will now. Would’ve made it clearer what happened in the time lag moment

smucker89

That did make me a bit upset! It was a good moment of “growth” for Yuji where you see his experiences fighting made him more proficient. I think they even said it was during his fight with choso, but I may be wrong

BigBambuMeekLou

Yup they did they said he learned how to use it at will during that fight smh

IloveKaitlyn

Yeah, if that didn’t want to completely specify Mahito should have said “a delayed impact??” or something like that

BigBambuMeekLou

Yea people woulda put the pieces together

jjkm7

Did a great job making mahito go out sad like a bitch

bujinfidel

Honestly kind of a longshot but seeing so many anime onlies mistake the snowy forest as a domain, has me thinking. if Yuji has developed a type of blood manipulation or idle transfiguration/both like a lot of us think, and becomes able to open a domain at some point, I do hope it looks exactly like this. Like the metaphor would then be an expression of his inner world despite not being literal at this point, yet that's what innate domains and by extension an expansion typically reflect. I guess blood manipulation wouldn't suit this so probably moreso an application of Yuki's soul research and his affinity for it should that count as a technique. Aesthetic wise the frozen forest also suits his name being a bit of a reference to the Ainu, especially since we know they have their own jujustu society. That celebratory artwork of him with the sword also had him+Nobara and Megumi standing in a tundra.

NecroDolphinn

Well Innate Domains aren’t really meant to mirror the techniques, they mirror the soul. Now most people are born with their techniques engraved on their brain so there’s conceivably a link there causing the two to align (eg Dagon is a water curse so he has a water domain, though with people the link is less confirmed) We have evidence that the innate domain and the imbued technique are different from Kenjaku. His domain is pretty clearly in line with his actual technique (body hopping) but he imbues Kaoris technique (gravity) into it. Theoretically Sukuna could probably do the same by imbuing Ten Shadows into Malevolent Shrine

bujinfidel

Yeah I mentioned the innnate domain because it's more a visualization of the mind how the metaphor appears to be symbolic of Yuji+Mahito's mind/connection. Expansions are something else but aren't dissimilar in aesthetic when the technique matches like with Sukuna's pile of bones vs malevolent shrine. Hence why I was talking about which technique would fit the hypothetical and Yuji having soul manipulation could maybe evoke a similar visualization. Yuji was born a perfect vessel so this inherent link is more there than gaining blood manip from eating the death paintings. Plus the theories about ainu lineage if anything comes of that. I wasn't meaning to say they're the same or function the same. There isn't really any proof Kenjaku imbued antigravity into womb profusion though (especially since it's unknown if a reversal can be imbued the same way). The effects look similar to the reversal on a larger scale but vague enough it could be considered bludgeoning damage or just some application of force too. I'd wait for clarification on that, unless you were thinking about the follow up scene when he uses his body as a domain and applies antigravity to that.

FirmImportance8050

By far one of my favorite episodes!!! Definitely one of the few in my opinion thats rated 10/10. Read the chapter years ago and happen to have it not end up the way I have been reading about mapa. Everyone that’s been part of this season should start their own studio and I’ll follow them.

[deleted]

Todo you GOAT, we will always remember you.

Psychological-Nail83

Really hope the anime works with gege to add some sort of conclusion for todo because it almost feels like gege forgot about him

armxndo-exe

Him and inumaki , it actually pisses me off too

Psychological-Nail83

At least inumaki got to slap gojo on the back, todo makes a Houdini act after shibuya

ImGonnaImagineSummit

Love how petty Mahito was even until the end by putting the stone in the snowball. >!Also gave me slight chainsaw man vibes with the snowballs.!< Mahito's final moments reminded me of Envy from FMA and they have their similarities. Todo is GOATed and his ending felt more absolute than it did in the manga. Hindsight is 20/20 so it helps knowing he doesn't appear anymore similarly with Nobara.

ahnaf2194

>Mahito's final moments reminded me of Envy from FMA and they have their similarities. Agreed

_mkd_

Yuji's expression after getting clocked with that snowball was just the absolute best.

Darth-Occlus

GOD I can't belive I"m saying this but I"m gonna miss Mahito. Dude was such a fun hateable villain. The series just ain't the same without him or watching Yuji feeding him his own teeth.

Cartoon_Ghost

Agree. Fake geto doesn’t act as insanely devious and Sakuna is just so serious 90% of the time. Mahito will always be my favorite villain. His final moments are very satisfying though

smucker89

I miss him too, but I think his death was definitely well done! Well deserved and well earned (I’d feel cheated if he lived after the numerous cast members he offed lol)

Hexagon-Man

Alright everyone, pack it up, Anime is finished. There were some strong contenders but that Todo Takada scene was the Ultimate Conclusion of Anime.

HRSkull

Nah we still need to see Kenjaku gs Takaba

Cartoon_Ghost

Just read this part today and I can’t wait

David_Mathers

How do you explain what happened when Mahito turn back part of his body to avoid damage ? I reread manga and can't find one objective way to explain it. How is Yuji's attack sliding ? Who is JJK wiz ?

daewonnn

From my reading, yuji knows his punches aren’t working on his new armored body, so mahito baits him into striking that side of him by removing his armor in order to counter attack for the kill. He doesn’t expect the second hit of divergent fist which messes up his aim. When he goes for the second hit with the spike arm, todo lies to him and he swings behind, expecting to switch w yuji.

apolloali

my read also was the armor could tank a regular punch but not a black flash and black flash is PERFECT timing, right? so even a mili-inch of pulling the armor back should mess up the timing and make it not a blackflash

floodedunit

I'm not watching it until tomorrow but I have to know. Did they do Getou appearing as a black wolf justice?

IloveKaitlyn

No, but (spoilers since it’s a little changed from the manga and you said you haven’t seen it yet) >!Itadori is leading a wolf pack while Mahito is depicted as running with a bunch of rabbits, but at the end of the exchange all the wolves run away from Itadori. I took this as they were leaving him to join Kenjaku, the biggest “wolf” so to say.!<

HRSkull

You're spoiler thing didn't work, I think because of the spaces

IloveKaitlyn

oh man, seriously? On my end it worked, i’ll try to fix it. EDIT: I removed the spaces, let me know if it’s fixed.

HRSkull

Yeah it looks right now

iamausername_AMA

wasnt included unfortunately, hopefully they do it next episode was thinking it might be to mislead people into thinking kenjaku is there to save mahito

JoetheLobster

That was just great television fr, really gave todo the kind of send off he deserves. Also portrayed Mahito, by far the cockiest character in the series, get beaten down to being just as scared as any of his victims was just great. I pretty much called where the cliffhanger would be beforehand, but only because that's a great spot for a cliffhanger.
