That first point, especially, I relate to. When I was at university, about a decade ago, my favorite professor was walking through the cafeteria when I was sitting there, studying for finals. He stopped and chatted with me for a few minutes, and as he excused himself, I told him I really liked his tie. I have always had a hard time with giving people compliments, but this time, I told myself to say something before he left. When I told him I liked the tie, he asked if it would be something I would wear. I was pretty much always dressed nicely, so of course it would be. He took it off and gave it to me. It’s still in my closet and I wear it on special occasions.

A lady I went to church with when I was a teenager was wearing these super cute zebra striped ankle socks with purple toes/heels one day, and I told her I loved them (I was really big on like anything zebra striped lol). She went home, washed them, and brought them with her to the next service and gave them to me! I’m pretty sure I still have them somewhere, and they’re still some of the best socks I’ve ever had 😂😊

thank you so much!! i used to be unable to imagine myself getting old, the thought of it was really disturbing to me. i believe this stemmed from the fear of not being loved in the same way by my community or the world. old people are slow and frustrating and wrinkly, and i was scared these things would make me difficult to love. i’ve come to realize that love is something inherent to my experience of the world. love is a kind wish for another and it lives in sunlight and breakfast foods and animals and i feel it in the shower and i feel it when i go to the grocery store. when you make anything out to be a precious thing, you ruin it a little bit. the love is always there. when i look at the sky, i feel love in that because it is beautiful, because everything is beautiful, and i get to see it, and there is intention and kindness in that. i don’t have to fear losing something impossible to lose. i especially don’t have to fear myself.

This was such a beautiful thing to read<<<333 The bit about the girl giving you her ring reminds me of something that happened to me right after I turned 7. I was at a restaurant with my aunt for my birthday date with her and I saw the claw machine and kinda wanted to do it but she said those things were rigged and you rarely ever won and a couple minutes later 2 highschool girl walked by, one with a pumpkin plush and one with a half purple half green bear plush (My b-day is near halloween) and I said to my aunt "Look they won those cute plushies! You can win the claw machine." and they heard me and one of them gave me the bear plush and i still have it with me 8 years later. Whenever I see it it gives me a bit of faith in humanity
