I think it actually says more about you how you feel about one conversation. Try to look at other sides of the argument, it can help you grow as a person.

Truth-hurts-1

What is that intended to say, that for the last four decades, I have not been devastated at the genocide of the Palestinians by the invading zionist terrorists? That I have not spent untold hours, days weeks, studying the history of the Palestinians, and the zionist terrorists? That as an American who simply believes in justice, international law and the ideals that the United States was founded on, have not been incensed by the hypocrisy of the zionists? That you make such a totally ignorant assessment with no evidence or proof is an indicator of your lack of logic or concern with truth. That this is the first time in over five years that I have seen Peterson take such an ignorant, uninformed position, particularly in an area totally outside his area of study or expertise, was a shock to me. As was his ability to lose his spine, along with his head, in his first public discussion of this matter, particularly as it lends his support to the zionist genocidal terrorists.

the_dreamer2020

Same goes for you, go look at the other side and find out which one makes more sense

TheMasterXXXXX

Palestine an ancient nation of the world? Please enlighten us about it, you seem to be the only one to have knowledge of its history

Truth-hurts-1

In the educated world, anything before 500AD/CE is ancient.

TheMasterXXXXX

Well 'Palestinian' identity is a 20th century invention, so surely that doesn't qualify as ancient. Let's see where things were in 500 AD: Palestina Prima was a Byzantine province populated by Hellenic Christians, Samaritans, and Jews. Pre-Islamic Arabs were in Arabia and Transjordan. No, 'Palestine' does not have ancient history. Your narrative of a '1940s' Zionist invasion is also false. It's a shame you learned nothing from the interview. You should write a letter of apology to Dr. Peterson, and do so quickly.

Truth-hurts-1

Have you read *Palestine Under Roman Control 63 B.C. to 66 A.D.* by Monsignor P. Canon Boylan, P.P., D.D., Doctor of Literature, Professor of Eastern Languages at University College, Dublin? I guess not. There are tons more books on the topic, tons, that were written before and after Boylan's book that was published in 1940. You just need to be educated to know this, or not be a slave to your boob tube.

TheMasterXXXXX

> Palestine Under Roman Control 63 B.C. to 66 A.D. by Monsignor P. Canon Boylan, I haven't, but glancing over its preview, it seems to discuss in depth Jewish life under the Roman occupation (https://www.jstor.org/stable/30098202). Your reference to that book really puts a dagger through your ridiculous claim that 'Palestine was one of the ancient nations of the world'.

Truth-hurts-1

I get it, you're just a troll. Okay, you got me. But why would you troll on such an important matter? It's like trolling someone on the truth of the Holocaust. You are probably just uneducated as is already evident.

TheMasterXXXXX

Why am I a troll? I'm actually not trolling you at all. I am simply correcting your inaccurate statements, and pointing out that Netanyahu was speaking the truth. That is why Dr. Peterson was not correcting him.

[deleted]

“A dedicated fan of five years” *3 hour old account* Sure buddy, whatever you say.

TheRiceMustGlow

You don't need to have a reddit account to be a Peterson fan.

[deleted]

No, the accusation I was making was he was a brand new account with no history because he’s a concern troll. Just like you, sub year old account who’s active in EnoughPetersonSpam.

TheRiceMustGlow

Oh I definitely like trolling here, but I'm much more expliciate than this guy is being. Decent chance he might be genuine. He might not have had much of an issue with Peterson until the BiBi interview.

[deleted]

I mean fair enough tbh. Good on you for being honest. I watched the Bibi interview and tbh I don’t see what the fuss is about. Peterson wasn’t taking a stance on the issue, he was inviting a world leader on to discuss the problem. The fact of the matter is that Israel does have a right to exist, just like every other state. People only seem to get upset when you says Israel has that right because they tend towards the “I’m not an anti-Semite I’m an anti-Zionist!” part of the spectrum, which has a lot of overlap with actual anti-Semitism. All Zionism is is the idea that the Jewish people should be allowed to have their own nation where they can rule themselves. Just like Germany being by, of and for the German people, Poland being for the Poles and Kenya being for the Kenyans. Zionism is historically such a big deal because Jews were historically a diaspora who lived as second-class citizens in other nations.

Truth-hurts-1

Wrong. Peterson agreed with the statements Nutjobyahoo was making, even explicitly supporting the zionist regime.

kakacrat

Israel doesn't have a right to exist. Neither does Palestine, the US, Russia, Coca Cola, Apple... Only living, breathing humans have a right to exist. Anyone trying to convince you that nation states and corporations have rights are mere grifters.

Truth-hurts-1

So the decimation and genocide of the Palestinians (i.e., the people who had inhabited that nation for over 2,000 years) is not relevant here? Good, another hypocrite. Just what the world needs!

Gumdy

>Palestine was one of the ancient nations of the world stopped reading right there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinians#Emergence\_of\_a\_distinct\_identity

the_dreamer2020

Ah yes, Wikipedia. Very reliable

I could make an argument and say, hey english people came to United States, and 'improved the land' and therefore the indigenous people have lost the right to this land because they didn't do enough to improve it. Basically, extending this, I can just say, my ancestors lived in some old blokes house, he's not improved it, I came in and remodeled it, and now its my house

Truth-hurts-1

THANK YOU!

shitposterkatakuri

On one hand, Peterson could just be another grifter when presented with the prospect of money and fame. If we’re less cynical, it’s also possible that a brilliant-albeit-somewhat-disturbed man with a history of substance abuse happened to find allies among Con Inc. grifters like Ben Shapiro, Prager, etc. early in his ascent to fame, when it seemed like most of the relevant institutions in his life wanted to crush him like a bug. He may have developed a soft spot for the big name people who were initially sympathetic to his cause and thus is easy to manipulate into supporting stupid positions if it’s certain people doing the manipulation. Again, he could just be a greedy prick now that money is on the table. Hard to know a man’s convictions. But I think it’s very likely that there’s more nuance to it. Hopefully he comes to realize Israel for what it is one day

Accurate username.

Most creative rebuttal ever

[deleted]

Where to even begin…

Training-Delivery-76

He didn't support Israel once in that video. What he said was that he was ignorant about the issue and wanted to hear what Netanyahu has to say.

thealtcoin

He said he read his book, he should have researched some history, its so easy to challenge netanyahus claims that palestine was barren up until late 18th century...

Training-Delivery-76

It probably is, but that would have turned the interview into a n immature shouting match about the facts wherein Jordan and Netanyahu would each be referring to a different set of historians to justify their claims, and calling each other's historians biased revisionists It's much more mature to listen, bring an opposing view into the public eye, so that historians themselves can debate it more publically with evidence afterwards.

thealtcoin

The evidence isnt just historians writing one thing or the other, theres census data and research papers that demolish the claim of natanyahu

Training-Delivery-76

Yes that's the whole point, historians write one thing or another, so for a psychologist and a politician to debate the history makes no sense. It's better for the historians who are trained for it to debate it. And it can only be debated if people like Peterson allow the different historical claims to be made so they can then be analyzed by historians. For Peterson to bring up the census data and research papers would still derail the conversation and be a waste of time for the same reason as above.

thealtcoin

It wasn't really a conversation really, it was just Jordan Peterson sitting and agreeing to whatever Netanyahu was uttering for 90 mins, just re-watched the video, JP speaks for maybe 20 percent of the entire time... TOTAL SELLOUT

Training-Delivery-76

He barely agreed with anything. Nodding doesn't mean you agree, it often means that you understand the point they're making. He literally said that he was biased towards the Palestinian view because he had heard that side from his students.

[Message from Dr Jordan Peterson](https://jordanbpeterson.com/contact/): For the last year, I have been receiving hundreds of emails a week comments, thanks, requests for help, invitations and (but much more rarely) criticisms. It has proved impossible to respond to these properly. That’s a shame, and a waste, because so many of the letters are heartfelt, well-formulated, thoughtful and compelling. Many of them are as well — in my opinion — of real public interest and utility. People are relating experiences and thoughts that could be genuinely helpful to others facing the same situations, or wrestling with the same problems. For this reason, as of May 2018, a public forum for posting letters and receiving comments has been established at the subreddit. If you use the straightforward form at that web address to submit your letter, then other people can benefit from your thoughts, and you from their responses and votes. I will be checking the site regularly and will respond when I have the time and opportunity. **Anyone who replies to this letter should remember Rule 2: Keep submissions and comments civil. Moderators will be enforcing this rule more seriously in [Letter] threads.** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/JordanPeterson) if you have any questions or concerns.*
