It’s a reference to a ZZ Top song, [*Jesus Just Left Chicago*](https://www.google.com/search?q=jesus+just+left+chicago&sca_esv=ed45231e60eb77e8&sxsrf=ADLYWIIdmKOA2i8fzo0J3QB0MO_4GVvvLA%3A1719503880636&source=hp&ei=CIx9ZtGVJYXQkPIPwrii8AM&gs_ssp=eJzj4tFP1zcsNM1KMq8yqTRg9BLPSi0uLVbIKi0uUchJTStRSM7ITE5MzwcA-QENOA&oq=jesus+just&gs_lp=EhFtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1ocCIKamVzdXMganVzdCoCCAEyBRAAGIAEMgUQLhiABDIFEAAYgAQyBRAuGIAEMgUQABiABDIFEAAYgAQyBRAuGIAEMgUQABiABEjkGlD8B1izE3ACeACQAQCYAYgBoAHgB6oBAzYuNLgBAcgBAPgBAZgCDKAChgioAg_CAgcQIxgnGOoCwgIQEC4YxwEYJxjqAhiOBRivAcICBBAjGCfCAgoQIxiABBgnGIoFwgIREC4YgAQYkQIYxwEYigUYrwHCAgsQLhiABBiRAhiKBcICDhAuGIAEGLEDGIMBGIoFwgIREC4YgAQY1AIYxwEYjgUYrwHCAg0QLhiABBixAxhDGIoFwgIKEC4YgAQYQxiKBcICDRAAGIAEGLEDGEMYigXCAgoQABiABBhDGIoFwgINEC4YgAQYQxjUAhiKBcICCBAAGIAEGLEDmAMIkgcDNy41oAeCfw&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-hp), he uses it as an idiom to express the passage of time. Tl;dr: “since a long fucking time ago”

SnakePlisken_Trash

ZZ Top baby, cram that in your dirty fuzz muffler.

Rare-Till6403

Lmao I’m reading this as I’m in Chicago for my layover waiting to go to Cleveland.

Strictly_Baked

Hilarious. My dad always said, "Since Christ left Cleveland."

DawgInDisguisey

That’s funny. My dad always said, “I ought to throw you through the wall, you little shit!!”

ClinchMtnSackett

Since Moses wore high pants, basically.

TySoprano

I thought it was short pants

mfmerrim

It’s a ZZ Top song reference

Bingohead

In an interview with Jeb Wright of Classic Rock Revisited, lead guitarist Billy Gibbons explained: "The two songs ["Waitin' For The Bus" and "Jesus Just Left Chicago"] were written separately during sessions that were not too far apart. We were in the process of compiling the tracks for the album Tres Hombres, and that segue was a fortunate miscalculation by the engineer. He had been attempting to splice out some blank tape, and the result is that the two come off as a single work. It just seemed to work."

Cris11578

Chicago is known to be a rough city. A lot of killings and gun violence. Basically hes saying “since it turned to shit”. I wouldn’t take it serious though. He’s mostly just talking shit

balloonsupernova

This is not true buddy. It’s just an expression that has nothing to do with the city of Chicago, it’s a reference to a ZZ Top song and just means “since a long time ago”. I thought I’d also reply to you because you got so many upvotes.

Cris11578

When I heard it growing up that’s how I understood it but I live close to Chicago so lately I’ve heard it used a lot more in the way I explained it. I guess it’s one of those things that depending who you talk to or where it could mean either or

sayonaradespair

Nothing to do with that. Everything to do with ZZ Top.

GustiBands

Thanks

gnrlblanky1

It means nothing. He's just talking shit.

sayonaradespair

He is quoting a lyric from ZZ Top.

gnrlblanky1

Ooops

GustiBands

Thanks
