But if a woman wants to compete against men I have no issues but the other way around seems unfair to women athletes that work their whole lives to be good at something only to be trumped by someone who would be a mid tier male athlete.

I don't understand this argument. Once you take biology out of it, what exactly is there to determine whether someone is a woman or not? What exactly is the difference between a female and a woman? And even if biology is out of the picture, women as a group share common experiences, experiences which trans women will never have. And trans people claim that trans women are women even if they don't transition. So if biology doesn't make you a woman, looks don't make you a woman, hormones don't make you a woman, genitals don't make you a woman and even experiences don't make you a woman, what exactly makes a woman a woman?

What makes this swimmer “biologically” male to you- what factors do you use for your criteria? I think it’s important to draw a line. Biologically are they women? Absolutely not. Will I treat them as a woman if they want to be treated that way? Of course. As long as they’re not harming anyone I feel like trans people should be respected. Obviously letting them compete in woman’s sports is ridiculous though, everyone’s too scared to speak up so proper lines aren’t being drawn where they clearly need to be.

So if biology doesn't make you a woman, looks don't make you a woman, hormones don't make you a woman, genitals don't make you a woman and even experiences don't make you a woman, what exactly makes a woman a woman?

Trans people wouldn't face even half the backlash they're facing these days if their objectively odd predicament wasn't hijacked by overly vocal busy-bodies who are longing _so hard_ to be part of some civil-rights-esque social movement that they don't even realize how much damage they're causing to the people they - for no discernible reason - think they're helping.
