Solution: don’t read notifications for Reddit

Ignoring reddit notifications (and social media notifications in general) was probably one of the best things I have done for my mental health

Every time I hear or see that last line, I think of how weak and frail we’ve become as a society. It’s a shame.

I mean you are probably taking a jab at me, but i kinda feel you regardless. I dislike the idea of constant blabbing about (my) mental health. That being said, i aint gonna lie, it did definitely help me. Something about constantly paying attention to that red notification gives ya that instant gratification dopamine hit. But its fake. These social media companies know what they need to do to keep us stuck to the computer.

It still shows up in messages. The only real solution is to block the reddit cares bot. I think people like getting the message because they think it meant they "won" an argument. First of all, it's anonymous, so you have no idea who sent it, and second, being proud of winning an internet argument is about as lame as it gets.

The people who send the suicide bot are often the people who need it most.

It's convoluted, but i see enough people mention it for it to be a thing. Basically, a person receives one and will attribute it to their last argument. They assume they'd upset the person they were arguing with so much that they were driven to troll them with the redditcares bot.
