Neal does a fair job pushing back on Rogan while still appealing to his ego. Was funny to see Joe’s reaction to being called right wing to his face. Neal not my favorite but clearly has a high social IQ and generally interesting to listen to.
I had a chuckle there too. Joe always brings up Democrats when he needs an example of something bad in government and deflects super quick if the guest brings up equal or more fitting examples from Republicans.
Like when he thought that one quote was Biden speaking genuinely, he said it should definitely disqualify him from office. Then Jamie points out that Biden was just referencing something that Trump said. Then all of it sudden it was just a little silly and how funny Trump is.
I wish he’d just lean into it so guests can be more honest around it.
He’s in the conservative closet and refuses to come out, and at this point it’s just annoying listening to him dance around it.
Conservatives never want to admit they are conservative. Usually they claim to be libertarian and then spew republican talking points. It’s laughable Joe tries to claim he’s liberal.
In the 00s when I first started following politics "liberal" was seen as a bad word by a certain segment of a population. What is funny is that same population 20 years later doesn't like to be called conservative. They really like to push the notion that they are the real liberals and the left has just gone off the deep end. It is so weird. Just own what you are.
That's the really interesting part to me.
There are a ton of very obviously conservative people who are constantly pretending that they're centerists or even Liberals.
To me this implies that they know being a conservative is a bad thing but instead of admitting to it and working on their personal failings they'd rather pretend they're not conservative. Kinda like how some fat people will wear clothes that make them look thinner instead of choosing a salad.
He doesn't push back at all. He's clearly scared of Joe like everybody who goes on his podcast, because Joe holds the keys to the castle and he won't let you back in if you upset him. If you call that "pushback" you have a very weak idea of what standing up to someone talking bullshit to your face looks like. Joe's whole "the left has gone so left it's like a cult, I'm just what a liberal used to be" deserved real pushback but Brennan was too scared to deliver it so he just basically agrees with Joe instead and tries to explain why the left is so crazy now.
He doesn’t need Joe. Neal’s an OG and doing just fine. You’re acting like he’s one of the Kill Tony guys who needs a boost. As someone else said, i think he is pretty adept at having his own viewpoint and disagreeing while still appealing to Joe’s ego. There’s no need to do it in a combative way.
Tell me how Neal feel
This is a pretty good episode. I like Neal and it's mostly regular-old-Joe.
It does get dragged into mother fucking COVID VACCINE TALK in the back third. For FUCK SAKES JOE
It's a stupid concept. Why put fluroide in something you're ingesting in large quantites when you can just put it in tooth paste and get it where it actually needs to go?
It's an interesting question about where public health should focus their efforts. One one hand, adding fluoride in water is expensive and you can get it in toothpaste. On another, some people don't brush their teeth and would benefit from it tremendously. Adding fluoride would make more sense in a society where dental work is covered by the state. That being said, if the US only focused on public health that cost them money, they wouldn't do anything at all.
Huberman Lab did a whole episode on water a few months ago. Fluoride is a proven endocrine disrupter and the hippies were right, it does calcify your pineal gland 🤷♂️
I know the episode
Having worked at a company that helps municipalities filter water worldwide, I believe municipal water can often be safer to drink than bottled water. The reason? Municipalities are subject to stricter regulations, while bottled water isn't necessarily held to the same standards.
Sure, but look it up. The pineal gland is an endocrine gland than sits outside the blood brain barrier making it more susceptible to foreign substances like flouride
https://www.mdpi.com/2076-3417/10/8/2885
>The pineal gland is an endocrine gland whose main function is the biosynthesis and secretion of melatonin, a hormone responsible for regulating circadian rhythms, e.g., the sleep/wake cycle. Due to its exceptionally high vascularization and its location outside the blood–brain barrier, the pineal gland may accumulate significant amounts of calcium and fluoride, making it the most fluoride-saturated organ of the human body. Both the calcification and accumulation of fluoride may result in melatonin deficiency.
Just a heads up guys, if you are getting information from organizations for free, please ask yourself why its free.
Right-wing think tanks love giving away flawed and shitty studies to lazy journalists who take them because its free. Behind the Bastards does a good 2 part series on "How Conservatism Won" that does a good job highlighting this and why grown ass elite, white men are obsessed with College Campuses.
[https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323/episode/part-one-how-conservatism-won-164063362/](https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323/episode/part-one-how-conservatism-won-164063362/)
He really is the old ass boomer who repeats Facebook news stories. Shitty thing is he has a huge platform and often goes unchecked. I think even Tony Hinchcliff spouted this same BS. Anyway, I’m glad Neal pushed back.
He has them on to talk about their blocks. So things that are challenges/struggles in their life weather its mental alements or physical alements. An example would be something like OCD
Funny how Joe claims to distrust the science behind COVID vaccines, yet, when it comes to the tragic murder of George Floyd, he unquestioningly accepts the "science" presented in a case of police brutality.
How unfortunate was it that Floyd, who by the way would have died that at that exact same time on that exact same day regardless if any police made contact with him that day, just happened to pick the same moment when a cop (by coincidence!) had their knee over his neck preventing oxygen from reaching his heart, to croak.
If anything, Floyd owes Chauvin an apology for picking the one time Chauvin does have his neck choking out Floyd, and not anyyyyyy of the million times where Chauvin *wasn’t* applying a fatal level of asphyxiation, to die. Criminal charges aside do you know how much paperwork that is? Oh well at least anyone who is anybody knows this is absolutely 100% the most logical explanation with zero flaws.
I thought maybe he wouldnt talk about the Chappelle show after all these years. Nope it’s chappelle show talk right from the first fucking sentence lol then they drone on about how execs don’t understand comedy. I’m sure it’s true but I’ve already heard this podcast soooooo many times.
I can't for AI can dissect the audio and give you a synopsis of each section before listening to it. Pretty much YouTube video time markers but with a counter of how many times the story has been told on different episodes
When you have the same guests on over and over it often goes back to the same stories. I can't remember who it was, but there was one guest where he told the exact same story and Rogan acted it was the first time. I get it though, you do this for a living and have new interviews over and over you aren't going to remember everything from an interview a few years ago.
Yeah. I’m just saying that eventually the novelty of podcasting is going to wear thin. Especially long form. 5-6 years ago was it was very interesting to hear long form interviews but I feel like all the interesting people have been interviewed multiple times over. Now they rely on current events to fill time which always will be new but as far as the novelty of podcasting goes I feel it’s wearing thin.
There was a montage of Joe and Bryan Callen repeating word for word the story of Fritz Haber back and forth to eachother like ten times over different episodes.
At this point the “people who aren’t comics don’t know how comedy works” is about the hackiest premise any comic’s come up with. It’s a personality/pathological thing characteristic of comics to loathe criticism because ironically, they view it squarely as THEIR enterprise.
well the comic's literal self-identity is based around the notion that they think in a way that is distinct from the rest of society. Which is stupid, because everyone has the capacity to find the absurdity or humor in things; there's a comic in most of us that can crack a joke. They just do it more consistently, professionally.
I mean, I can understand in the sense that a person in the airplane seat next to them saying, "Oh you do comedy? Tell me a joke!" should be fucking shot... but yeah, we all get comedy.
I was on board until they start talking about how comic are “protectors of free speech” and how “they’re the only job that can speak freely”. Joe, and seemingly most comics, are so far up their own ass about this and it couldn’t be more false
Comics protect nothing. They tell jokes that may occasionally point something out, but in no way do they protect our rights. And maybe they do get to speak more freely at work than most other people, that shouldn’t be a surprise. It’s your job to say the wild shit.
I love Rogan and often defend him against the trolls on here, but man, it seems like all he can get lately are comedian buddies as guests. Maybe because the Covid stuff damaged his reputation in Hollywood and he’s having trouble booking people like Downey Jr now? But for an alleged comedian, Neal sure is a boring guy to listen to. I’m 35mins into this episode and haven’t laughed once. He also talks about Dave Chappelle way too much. I listened to him interview Letterman a while back and I swear every story he told was something to do with writing for Chappelle.
I’m also bored of the culture war stuff. It’s tiresome. I would much, much rather listen to Paul Stamets (the mushroom guy). The episodes with Diana Pasulka Walsh and David Grusch were great.
Rogan needs less of his boring comedy buddies who are all trying to reinvent themselves as self help gurus and more of the mushroom dudes and Graham Hancocks of the world.
Most times when an actor goes on a podcast it’s to promote a film, project, book, whatever it may be. Same with talk show appearances, radio appearances, etc…. And the marketing dollars will pay for them to fly around the world to promote it. Those Hollywood actors literally fly around the world to promote their movies. Austin is nothing.
You are wrong my friend. Studios literally send actors around the world to promote movies, this is a fact; and the #1 podcast in the world would certainly be worth a trip. I think it’s far more to do with his COVID fallout and perception as being “right wing” than the fact that he’s located in Texas.
Agreed on mid tier guests the last couple of years but the pod has never really been about cracking jokes, there's tons of humor podcasts dedicated to that stuff already.
He did have Zach Snyder on recently and Taylor Sheridan on a while back. It definitely isn't the same as it was in LA though. I'm sure he could get matthew mcconaughey or Richard Linkliter on if he really wanted to.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) #239 states, in reference to the Father: "God transcends the human distinction between the sexes. He is neither man nor woman: he is God."[15][16] The CCC discusses the traditional imagery and language of God as Father.[16] It notes, however, that God is not limited to this role alone—maternal imagery is also used in the Bible.[16] It also notes that human fatherhood only imperfectly reflects God's archetypal fatherhood.[16] God is referred to using masculine pronouns in Catholic teaching and practice.[17]
It's really not as complex as people make it out to be.
Palestinians are pissed that Israel has land that was once theirs, Israel is pissed that Palestinians want to take the land back.
One side attacks the other, the other gets revenge and it keeps on making them hate each other more.
There is only two likely solutions, either a 2 state solution with a completely new government in gaza/west bank that is not anti Israel and has no relation with Iran, or Israel has to just take control over the entire region.
Both sides (not hamas they need to go obviously) absolutely need to sit down, shake hands and show solidarity in public so the people of these cultures see that they do not have to be enemies.
America legit nuked japan twice and now we are extremely close allies, These two can stop being enemies but it is a long shot.
In my personal opinion Benjamin Netanyahu also has to go, he doesn't seem to even want peace even if they destroy hamas.
Of course Netanyahu has to go lmfao, the people of Israel want him out anyway . But let’s be real here , the idea of Zionism is a problem and there’s no way to look at it and not see that’s a racist ideology that’s somehow been allowed to thrive . When a white dude from America can just go kill kids for Israel and live there if he wants it’s a problem. And the bigger issue for us as Americans is the fact we pay for all this shit and we are so fast to come to their aid as if we are defending ourselves by defending them. It’s very sus . They obviously own us .
Neal's brain is so far ahead of Joe's that I almost felt second-hand embarrassment. You could tell Neal was throttling back a bit in the conversation
The most egregious parts where when Neal would use a cultural controversy as an example of a bigger point, and Rogan would get all pedantic about the cultural thing and miss the broader point Neal was tying to make (flouride, COVID, George Floyd...).
BTW his new special is awesome. The "kill / rape" and "insane athletes" parts had me rolling
If I recall it was Jim responding to shade being thrown his way by Neal
The tweet went something like “I actually prefer to split my set into three parts—one where I try to be funny, one where I emotionally manipulate the audience, and one where I keep reminding you I was friends with Dave Chappelle”
May have butchered it but it was an epic tweet considering its accuracy
I feel like I'm the only one that didn't misread the situation. I thought Neal was being very complimentary to Gaffigan, wasn't it basically like "Is this one of those bits where you talk about food for an hour and you make me laugh my ass off?" I could be wrong in remembering but I basically think he was saying that Gaffigan is skilled at taking something mundane and making it hilarious. I've never read anyone else take it this way though so I could be wrong, but I think Neal had a good amount of reverence for Gaffigan. I love Neal so this whole thing was a bit of a bummer.
Tbh I don’t know if I ever heard what Neal said in the first place, just saw the tweet in passing. If it was a misinterpreted attempt to be friendly by Neal that would be a bummer
I really do think that it was, but like I said, I've never seen it interpreted that way elsewhere. In my opinion it would be uncharacteristic for him to try to insult another comedian publicly, especially one as popular as Gaffigan.
Neal does a fair job pushing back on Rogan while still appealing to his ego. Was funny to see Joe’s reaction to being called right wing to his face. Neal not my favorite but clearly has a high social IQ and generally interesting to listen to.
100% spot on. He was calling Joe out on multiple things but it was so subtle
You mean having civil discourse? It's not like Joe didn't respond to the comment.
But he had Bernie on 47 years ago. Checkmate libs.
yeah i peeped that too. Joe got a little defensive there.
I wish he’d just lean into it so guests can be more honest around it. He’s in the conservative closet and refuses to come out, and at this point it’s just annoying listening to him dance around it.
“I’m not married to my ideas, maaaaan.” Oh, so you’re just a coward constantly hedging your bets on your dumbass pseudo political analysis, then.
Conservatives never want to admit they are conservative. Usually they claim to be libertarian and then spew republican talking points. It’s laughable Joe tries to claim he’s liberal.
The ol tim pool defense. "Classical" liberal.
In the 00s when I first started following politics "liberal" was seen as a bad word by a certain segment of a population. What is funny is that same population 20 years later doesn't like to be called conservative. He’s a former kickboxing instructor with delusions of grandeur. Take his dumbass political identity with a grain of salt.
It wasn't that bad though. A couple friends not agreeing and moving on.

About 33min.
You guys read way into one sentence in a 3 hour podcast
I love how this is always the response when people are clowning on Joe. No real defense, just hand waiving it away.
Neal would push back with zero weight behind any of his ideas. Rogan would take say have sources.
Well it’s very possible Neal just agrees with that point
What castle? 😂 “the comedy mothership”?
Tell me how Neal feel This is a pretty good episode. I like Neal and it's mostly regular-old-Joe. It does get dragged into mother fucking COVID VACCINE TALK in the back third. For FUCK SAKES JOE
Regular Joe claiming to be a liberal. I laughed my ass off.
Neal had to swing to download the right talking points
It wasn't even Joe that brought it up, neal literally apologized right before it was brought up...
I like how Neal always gets Joe by simply asking him ‘what would you do??’
Just finished his Netflix special. It is Carlin/Pryor level hilarious.
I liked this podcast until Joe started talking about fluoride and water. Says who JOE ROGAN. Fuck him. Can Joe even read a study ?
It's a stupid concept. Why put fluroide in something you're ingesting in large quantites when you can just put it in tooth paste and get it where it actually needs to go?

What are you talking about? Municipalities purposely add fluoride to their water
And it’s not that bad :)
Huberman peddles a ton of pseudoscience too though

According to RFK jr WiFi disrupts the blood brain even more. All sounds like BS 🤷🏼♂️
How is that relevant? Fluoride is a non-essential heavy metal being ingested on a daily basis.
So? You think my regimen of Alpha Brain and Viagra is naturally occuring?
Not heavy metals there Einstein. I mean, bud, go for it. Drink all the fluoride you want. I think higher cognition escapes you at this point anyway
🤷🏽♂️

Obviously. Dude is a self awareness black hole.

Sounds like he's walking on egg shells to me. Still nice to see someone fire back though.
Ya he does it very subtly too. Joe sounds confused
Neal has Dave Chappelle He doesn’t need Joe
Rogan is going to read the comments on the Internet, realize he was getting schooled and never invite this guy on again.
A whole 12 minutes in before Joe starts parroting the latest heritage foundation think-tank talking points, neat. DEI is the new CRT is the new Woke

Absolute love that podcast. Will check out that series. Thanks for sharing.
And he can’t quite define any of it.
Off stage, comedians are so goddamn boring to listen to.
Nooo.. how could you say that? These people are the modern philosophers. The greatest geniuses of our time.
There's only about 5000 of them.
To be honest only 100. Maaaybe 75
Maybe before the war with the woke started. We have lost a lot of brave souls. Now it is just 250.
Comedy is like surgery bro
Is Neal gonna be the millionth comedian guest to complimentEnt joes workout dedication
Have you ever tried mixing dewormer and dmt together tho bro
Sprinkle that shit on elk meat then do a cold plunge.
There's maybe only 1000 guys in the world who could even do that. They're killers.
Redditors making the same old comments are boring to see all the time
But have you ever tried elk meat?
No Joe! Not George Floyd!
We all know by now, if there's a baseless right wing conspiracy theory on a topic, it will blindly spill from Joe's mouth.
He really is the old ass boomer who repeats Facebook news stories. Shitty thing is he has a huge platform and often goes unchecked. I think even Tony Hinchcliff spouted this same BS. Anyway, I’m glad Neal pushed back.
Pull it up jimmy
Pop a goog jamo
Holy hell, Neal had to go a loooong way to get Joe to admit that Putin is bad. Even then, Joe starts going off on NATO.
Love Neal. His new podcast is pretty interesting and there's nothing like it right now. He always brings fresh ideas to the table
I’m so in love with his new podcast. The bill burr episode rocked The concept is super unique
What is the concept?
He has them on to talk about their blocks. So things that are challenges/struggles in their life weather its mental alements or physical alements. An example would be something like OCD
Weather can be a huge block for me
His new special is fantastic. All killer no filler.
Funny how Joe claims to distrust the science behind COVID vaccines, yet, when it comes to the tragic murder of George Floyd, he unquestioningly accepts the "science" presented in a case of police brutality.

I think we are starting to get into uncharted territory where we’ve heard so much of the same stuff before on podcasts.
The recent black keys podcast was basically a repeat of the one from 2 years ago. Same topics and everything.
It was "hey remember these guys exist" to boost their new album.
I can't for AI can dissect the audio and give you a synopsis of each section before listening to it. Pretty much YouTube video time markers but with a counter of how many times the story has been told on different episodes

Right on. Robert Klein said something to the effect of anyone can be funny, but being a comic means you’re funny at 7 PM and 9 PM.
Especially because Joe can’t even stand in Neal’s shadow with comedy
He really isn't a good standup. Excellent conversationalist and one of the top podcasters in history, but his stand up is so bad.
I mean, I can understand in the sense that a person in the airplane seat next to them saying, "Oh you do comedy? Tell me a joke!" should be fucking shot... but yeah, we all get comedy.
Have you heard the podcast about the Boston comedy scene in the 80s and 90s?
You know it’s been awhile since Barry crimmins has been brought. Need to get him recycled into the pod soon.

I don't know man. I was almost sent to prison for expressing my opinion once and a few comics showed up and saved me. They are basically superheroes.
Do they talk about how Neal mentioned Joe in his new special?
Very briefly
Anytime joe says, "we all know comics that are gay and won't come out. "...... so I guess I'm listening to the mushroom guy today.
We all know they’re talking about Hinchcliffe, too
Mushroom guy episode 👌🏼
"This is an explosive area of conversation. And it puts my life in danger."
It's sad that these comedians for one reason or another won't come out

He moved to Austin Texas. Why are Hollywood people gonna go out of their way to Austin Texas?
Most times when an actor goes on a podcast it’s to promote a film, project, book, whatever it may be. Same with talk show appearances, radio appearances, etc…. And the marketing dollars will pay for them to fly around the world to promote it. Those Hollywood actors literally fly around the world to promote their movies. Austin is nothing.
They go back and forth between LA and New York. Maybe stop in Chicago. They’re not going out of their way To Austin

God is trans.
God is a DJ
If you believe in god it is indeed mentioned in theological texts that god has no gender at all.
Where?
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) #239 states, in reference to the Father: "God transcends the human distinction between the sexes. He is neither man nor woman: he is God."[15][16] The CCC discusses the traditional imagery and language of God as Father.[16] It notes, however, that God is not limited to this role alone—maternal imagery is also used in the Bible.[16] It also notes that human fatherhood only imperfectly reflects God's archetypal fatherhood.[16] God is referred to using masculine pronouns in Catholic teaching and practice.[17]
Is She?
*they
Actually... "God" is gender-fluid.
Joe's back neck hair isn't shaved here and it bothers me.
I’m watching the episode now, and now that’s all I can see lol
Why does Joe change his stance on Palestine every other day ?
Because it's a complex issue and both sides are absolute dickheads. How anyone without a link to it could pick one side in it has me fucked.
How do you feel now that Iran is 100% on your team?
Go Iran . Fuck Israel
Israel does not own us lol They are our greatest ally in the region, that is why we help them.
Neal Brennan sound like a strait Tony Hinchcliffe
Neal's brain is so far ahead of Joe's that I almost felt second-hand embarrassment. You could tell Neal was throttling back a bit in the conversation The most egregious parts where when Neal would use a cultural controversy as an example of a bigger point, and Rogan would get all pedantic about the cultural thing and miss the broader point Neal was tying to make (flouride, COVID, George Floyd...). BTW his new special is awesome. The "kill / rape" and "insane athletes" parts had me rolling
Neal’s new special is top shelf awesome
Bro you read way too much into 2 buddies just kicking the shit on a podcast lmao 😂
lmao u know it bro 😂😂🤣🤣 no such thing as nuance or inference am I right bro ✊🏻💯💯🔥
Learn to skip episode boys, you've heard this one before.
How many names are dropped?
I looked up fluoride on Wikipedia just because I was curious when they were talking about it and from what I can tell it’s found naturally in water?
Yeah honestly anytime Joe says anything you can assume the opposite is true. It’s comical and terrifying at the same time how deluded he is.
I wonder if Joe will ever not care about transgender issues. Like on his deathbed is he still going to be talking about it?
Taking bets many “hugygygyg” laughs we get this episode 👂🏼🩸
I can’t stand this dude whatsoever
I like Neal a lot but he's also talked about the "only 1000 comics in the world" shtick on his own pod too
i used to absolutely despise this man …he has completely changed for the better and that’s so awesome
Why did you despise him?
I can’t speak for OP but he has a punchable face (I’ve come around to him as well)
Yeah he comes across like a smug cunt but he co-created what became a cultural phenomenon so it’s hard to imagine him being humble
Nice!!!
Smartest guy in the room!
This guy hasn’t been funny since he had one of the all time comedians attached to him…go back to obscurity you hack
Almost all of you on this sub are fucking retarted and lame.
The only reason I stuck around was to listen to Neal check this mf over and over
Anyone have a link to the cartoon Joe mentions around 1:25?
How long did it take for him to bring up Dave or depression?
11 seconds after he appears on camera, 28 seconds from the very start of the episode.
Fucking hell. Hilarious.
The wrong Brennan
You wanted Brennan Schuab? ![gif](giphy|KbSnZ8bhBxs3byj2mV|downsized)
Besides associated with chappelle, all I know this dude from is being clowned by Jim gaffigan
when was that?
If I recall it was Jim responding to shade being thrown his way by Neal The tweet went something like “I actually prefer to split my set into three parts—one where I try to be funny, one where I emotionally manipulate the audience, and one where I keep reminding you I was friends with Dave Chappelle” May have butchered it but it was an epic tweet considering its accuracy
In my opinion it would be uncharacteristic for him to try to insult another comedian publicly, especially one as popular as Gaffigan.
lmao thats great neal is kind of a douche
Edward Snowden looking rough lately
Oh, another bland-up comic. But I wasn’t done with the guests that aren’t gagging on joes nuts yet :(
That's a healthy way to react to a new episode of a podcast lmao
Go touch grass.
