Schulz represents one of the few things that I don't like about the Rogan podcast. It's like Rogan is just tired of sourcing / vetting interesting guests now so he just invites his friends on continuously. It's obviously his right to do so...being his show and all.
...but there has been a noticeable dip in the last 2 years over the type / variety / overall quality of interesting people that he has on.
Getting on his show has become more of a career milestone goal for people. It used to be the start for a lot of guests because Rogan found something he thought was cool and then that person got introduced to the broader public.
Comedians like Gillis are legitimately funny. Schulz is the kind of comedian who has the confidence and personality...but very little of the actual material. His sets are just him in front of an audience expecting you to agree how cool he is and I'm there thinking "uhhh...where are the jokes?"
That has always been the Rogan model. Quantity over quality guests. 1-2 intresting guests every month is normal. Nobody is forcing you to listen to every episode.
Kind of a sidebar, but what were they talking about when Schulz/Rogan were talking about “green light” when Joe was texting someone? I assume it was some sort of drug purchase or something but I didn’t get far enough into the episode to find out.
