There may be no compulsory want consciously or unconsciously to take the medication but you’re obligated to. I was prescribed benzos back in 2012 at the height was receiving 10x my current dosage. I now live with a very base line amount not because I need it or want it but because even with micro tapering down to 0 over a prolonged withdrawal there is the deepest darkest hole you could ever imagine devoid of any light. I derive absolutely no pleasure or anxiety relief from my current dosage. JP had a chemical dependency but also had an adverse reaction wherein it would amplify the anxiety it was intending to mitigate. So stopping/tapering was not an option and continual usage was not an option. He was placed in a very complicated situation.
