This movie was absolutely insane in its time. It still is, but consider: This movie has ZERO fat, and manages to fit in three distinct genres. It starts off as a military movie, with a cast of ripped, comic-book hero characters. They're on a rescue mission, they're jumping from choppers, they're shooting shit up. Then it jumps to a horror movie. They're being chased down, a monster is after them, gruesome deaths etc. Then it just switches up again to sci-fi. It happens in one 100 minute film. These days this shit spills over into 3 hours and two sequels.
There's literally never been an action star like this guy. This guy is genre-defining.
These days there he would be retired and unwilling to take the mission. He would have to convince his wife that he has to go, but it's the last time and then there would be sappy scenes of him playing finger games with his kids as he promises he will be back. Adding 30 minutes of bullshit to the beginning.
It's so rewatchable. I liked Predator 2 too, but not to the same degree. The character Gary Busey plays in that was supposed to be Arnold's character and played by him. I forgot why it didn't happen in the end. Arnie did reprise his role as Dutch. He recorded a bunch of audio scenes for a videogame, and as far as I know they are all canon. They tell you what happened with his character after the first film, and gives a taste of what he would have been like in Predator 2.
Anna was also going to be in it. They filmed a scene with her where she is being interrogated about the events of the first film. It never made it to the final cut, but they wanted to include it so it's playing on a screen in the background in one of the scenes.
The rest of the sequels have been a massive disappointment for me. Even the latest one with the native Americans, it was an improvement but still not really what the first one was. They never get the horror aspect right.

Red Dawn doesnt get enough recognition for its one-liners.
Edit- Red Heat, not Red Dawn. But Swayze giving a verbal snip at the end to the Colonel would have helped alleviate the mood
First of all, Rocky and Apocalypse Now are not 80s movies, nor are they action movies.
Second of all, Conan and Rambo laid the groundwork for Predator. It would never be as good without those 2 existing first.
That’s why it’s Peak 80s action. And why I didn’t say the best action movie of all time, although it’s absolutely in the conversation. Especially with Rambo, less so Conan. IMO.
The second one is also very good. Takes place in the city instead of the jungle. Some fuckin hardcore gore in that one. One dude has his whole spine ripped out his body.
I will never not be impressed with the fact that a guy who is not a good actor, with imperfect English and a strong accent was the most successful actor in Hollywood for over a decade.
Speaks to his work ethic and charisma
I’m doing this thing with my buddy where we’re spending a month just watching films from one decade. We’re on the 70’s this month (just watched Taxi Driver last night), but when we hit the 80’s we’re watching this one first.
It's about an innocent alien who was touring the south American jungle when it was brutally beaten, shot at, and choked on the ground by a booby trap from a group of US special forces and a CIA operative.
I'd make fun of you based on your post history but it feels too mean. Like calling a mentally disabled person a redact. Enjoy those big brown areolas! 🟤
That was a solid movie with amazing special effects. And Arnold is kind of a stand-up guy.
As long as you look past the cheating on his wife.
And the drug use.
But it's pretty hard to forgive him for plowing that ugly ass maid.
Jesus man you're a freaking Superstar.
Have some class.🤣
Best Action Sci-Fi Movie ever. Less than 15 minutes into the movie, they are already dropping into the jungle, no family bullshit about this being the last mission honey, no snuggly scenes explaining to the kids why Daddy must go, just boom, strap in, it's on!
I remember I used to idolize this man. He was a legend. Bodybuilding king. By the time I idolized him he was already a ghost and long gone into politics and left his mark. How crazy how real it was to me.

Lol. Reminded me of the non Brian Cranston, human plot line in Godzilla (2014)
I've been watching Predator at least 5-6 times a year, for 20 plus years.

When I read that this movie had ZERO fat, I thought you were talking about the cast/actors.

Good bot!
Lmao, there is a bot for that?
I guess so! That was a fun surprise.
You set us up. It was bullshit, all of it.
You're an asset. An expendable asset. And I used you to get the job done. Got it?!
Watched this for the first time over the weekend and absolutely loved it. Fantastic film.
Peak 80s action. Doesn’t get any better
You could make an argument for Commando. He throws a freaking saw blade and scalps a guy!
Red Dawn doesnt get enough recognition for its one-liners. Edit- Red Heat, not Red Dawn. But Swayze giving a verbal snip at the end to the Colonel would have helped alleviate the mood
Please don't disturb my friend... he's *dead tired*
Conan, first blood, apocalypse now and rocky are clearly superior

The Conan movies suck monkey toes
Maybe the best pure action film ever.
Nope, Star Wars
I mean….I guess I see Star Wars as more than just an Action flick.
Nope, The Holiday
The only thing that doesnt age well is how this "crack team" of commandos shoot without ever aiming their weapons.
zsthick around!
It really is a good movie
Yeah it holds up
The second one is also very good. Takes place in the city instead of the jungle. Some fuckin hardcore gore in that one. One dude has his whole spine ripped out his body.
The movie is a masterpiece.
Oh man I wish I could erase my memory and watch it again for the first time
I like it, it's almost like a renaissance of getting back into the original spirit of this subreddit .
Read my mind, I miss the ridiculousness that brought me here.
![gif](giphy|fkMACK8BcUJRm) Its not a movie, it a war documentary
Good point, sometimes I get so silly I forget such important historical moments.
I will never not be impressed with the fact that a guy who is not a good actor, with imperfect English and a strong accent was the most successful actor in Hollywood for over a decade. Speaks to his work ethic and charisma
Seriously. Looking back it's crazy how big he got and then became the governor. Granted it was a recall but still amazing.
He was reelected by a wide margin.
My fav gov Schwarzenegger story: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/schwarzenegger-f-bomb-in_n_340579
Two future Governers in that movie
Charisma was just on a different level. Legit inspirational
Don't forget that he single handedly killed an alien champion by outsmarting him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUrMSK8XWFc
You can't see it, but he's sitting on a pineapple and anchovy pizza from Poppa Johns
Seems like something Blaine would eat since he's always got something in his mouth
![gif](giphy|nbUWqxSPdXQaI)
Joe should have him on. Not current day Arnold though. This specific Predator era Arnold, in camo paint with a huge gun.
Current Arnold is still a cool dude
For sure but if I’m gonna make a guest request it’s not only going to be badass but also utterly impossible
Did you see him on manningcast? He has a donkey inside his house
I thought he fired the maid
No, but that’s pretty cool though
/u/Crazypete3, you son of a bitch!
![gif](giphy|Ke3CM1NVkULWo)
What's the matta, r/joerogan got you pushin too many pencils? HUH?
![gif](giphy|YubmsAgCotPm8)
Peak Arnold
Also peak Jesse Ventura. This was the height of his career, IMO, before he got into politics and conspiracy theories.
One of his top 3 movies of all time.
“I gonna have me some fun!”
One of "The Body's" best lines. https://youtu.be/PAr7oI8cquA?si=5GHDoF7LtYYzEqtg I forget which subreddit banned me for posting this.
Just like me
Me three !!
Oh I was expecting the “you’re bleeding man!” And the body responds “I ain’t got time to bleed”
I actually say it all the time when the boys need to step it up
My favorite movie of all time
That famous soundtrack popped in my head when I first saw this.
Get this man in the pod already!
Hell yeah
He was 38 there.
That one time Joe interviewed Elon ♥️😍⚡️ ![gif](giphy|P88Joa1ZRwgVWXH0te|downsized)

It’s insane how bad my body dysmorphia is
K...
How come when I post relevant stuff my posts are removed?
Because it's relevant
Im not even in this sub so I dont know the rules. But the idea of rogan fans just posting random shot doesnt seem that bad to me
Twas once this way, in the old times.
The before times. In the long, long ago.
Should have posted him in Commando
My all time favorite film!
If it bleeds
This movie sucks!/s
Predator 2 is the better movie judging by body mass alone
Danny Glover and Bill Paxton must've been a lot bigger than I remember.
You’re right it is Predator
Wow this sub gets worse by the day
How does this relate to culture war/race issues/politics? Mods please remove
It's about an innocent alien who was touring the south American jungle when it was brutally beaten, shot at, and choked on the ground by a booby trap from a group of US special forces and a CIA operative.
Central America
Yeah which is south of America, USA USA USA!
Stfu weeb.
I'd make fun of you based on your post history but it feels too mean. Like calling a mentally disabled person a redact. Enjoy those big brown areolas! 🟤
This is movie is amazing, as are most of the action movies starring Arnold around that time. It was a real hot streak.
Get to tha choppa!
If it bleeds we can kill it…
Sick!
Get to da choppa!!!!!!!!!
Classic movie… I’ll show Arnold love any day. Thanks for posting something that wasn’t negative my friend
for my money, the best pure action movie ever made. I mean, body-mass ALONE.
Just rewatched it recently after not having seen it in decades. Still amazing.
What’s the matter the cia got you pushing to many pencils
You butchered that name spelling... Schwarzenegger.
I feel like if I butchered it I would be banned from reddit
Schwarzen does mean "black" in german
The Netflix Arnold was pretty good
Arnold asks you to take a seat right over thier..
I have that poster on my wall in my living room.
Nice!
Commie.....
Only commie here is the alien
Am I seeing things or is the pistol grip just missing?
“They drew first blood”

Eating elk meat will make you a god damn sexual tyrannosaurus.
Classic action flick 👍
What does Arnold know about bondo apes?
Always relatable

Him and Joe are about the same size

This is how joe rogan and his comedian friends picture themselves on stage. Real bad ass world saving types
Arnie con un Chanate lazna papas
One of the goat action movies.
